Wasteland Hideout: Upgrading from the Sewers
Chapter 537: Nearly Shameless Tactics, Equipment Overwhelm
"What's the situation with that plane up in the sky?"
Inside the Reyes Legion convoy racing toward Dead Mine Town, the Commander squinted at the aircraft circling overhead.
"Commander, that should be a plane from Quis's side. I saw it very clearly just now—it flew in from the direction of Dead Mine Town."
The assistant answered the question promptly.
But even as he replied, the shock and tremor in his voice were unmistakable.
In truth, he himself found it somewhat unbelievable.
This was the wasteland, after all!
Where the hell did Dead Mine Town get an aircraft?
Wasn't that place just a mining site?
If they already had an aircraft, didn't that mean they also had the supporting airport and logistical maintenance systems?Even the simplest supporting infrastructure would be incredibly astonishing in the current wasteland environment.
From what they knew, only the Dawn Consortium might have a dedicated airport and pilots. No other faction had such conditions.
Wasn't that saying Dead Mine Town now possessed strength on par with the Dawn Consortium?
That was simply a fantasy.
The Commander had clearly considered all this as well, but he understood even more clearly that their movements had been completely exposed under the enemy's watchful eyes.
Watching the plane already turning back to return home, he issued a low, firm order:
"Notify all units to advance at full speed toward Dead Mine Town. Also, contact the Dawn Consortium—before we launch our attack, have them provide long-range fire support."
"Understood!"
The massive convoy accelerated once more, quickly crossing the wasteland wilderness forest and entering a final stretch of open ground. They were now less than three kilometers from Dead Mine Town.
"Notify the Dawn Consortium that long-range attack can commence—" the Commander's voice had just begun.
But before he could finish speaking, every electronic instrument inside the command armored vehicle fell into a state of interference.
The instruments failed. The radio communications were cut off, leaving only white noise.
Even the convoy's full-spectrum surveillance monitors dissolved into snow static.
"What's going on?!" The Commander immediately sensed something was wrong.
"Dammit, prepare for battle!"
He quickly opened the armored vehicle's roof hatch and looked toward Dead Mine Town—and saw a shocking sight.
He saw a torrent of steel—a convoy of vehicles surging toward them like an unstoppable flood.
It was an armored vehicle force that far outnumbered their own.
The Commander was completely dumbfounded.
He could even hear the roaring engines of the enemy vehicles, the dust they kicked up half-shrouding the sky.
And above that steel torrent, shells were already hurtling toward them in rapid succession.
—
"Ghost has completed electronic signal jamming on enemy targets!"
"Mammoth and Fortress have completed encirclement of the Reyes Legion…"
Alpha listened to the battle reports coming in without lifting his head, his gaze fixed on the tactical command screen.
"Peregrine Falcon, flank right and assault the enemy's rear. Focus on locating the command vehicles—prioritize them for strikes." Alpha issued the order.
"Understood!"
With Alpha's command, the Peregrine Falcon high-speed assault vehicle in the convoy abruptly broke away and began its rightward flanking maneuver.
The Mammoth heavy assault vehicle and the Fortress fire support vehicle twisted their engines, charging forward with unstoppable momentum toward the Reyes Legion convoy.
Behind them, the Battering Ram assault artillery vehicle had already completed its first round of shelling and was adjusting its angle for the second round.
The Steel Rain wheeled artillery began precision strikes, calling out and eliminating the enemy's heavy firepower units.
Boom! Boom! Boom!—
The Reyes Legion convoy, battered by artillery fire, began to lose formation.
Yet they still mounted a counterattack immediately. They had already been on combat alert, and despite suffering significant losses in the first wave, their response was anything but slow.
30mm auto-cannons, assault guns, and grenade launchers all opened fire.
The heavy tank turrets also began to turn, locking onto the charging Mammoth heavy assault vehicles that were leading the charge, ready to fire.
But as the primary targets of the attack, those tank units had already been marked for destruction.
The moment the tank convoy appeared, the Mammoth heavy assault vehicles' anti-tank missile systems had locked onto them.
With a series of fiery trails shooting up,
Anti-tank missiles streaked into the sky, arcing toward the tank convoy within the Reyes Legion formation.
Without any surprises, one tank after another was precisely hit by the anti-tank missiles, turning into fireballs.
The armor plating on the Mammoth heavy assault vehicles also became pockmarked under the Reyes Legion's barrage.
But as armored vehicles crafted from Bronze-rank, Silver-tier [Mechanical Armor Vehicle Blueprint], their defense and attack power were clearly beyond comparison with ordinary armored vehicles.
The Reyes Legion's attacks simply couldn't penetrate the Mammoth heavy assault vehicles' armor defense.
It was a completely overwhelming battle for the Reyes Legion.
Especially the Mammoth series, known for its heavy firepower and defensive resilience, actually charged straight through the Reyes Legion's hail of bullets and crashed into their convoy, tearing their defensive line apart.
The Mammoth heavy assault vehicles led the charge, with the Fortress fire support vehicles right behind, turning into the "catfish" that stirred up and disrupted the enemy's formation.
Relying on their superior defense and firepower, they completely shattered the Reyes Legion's combat line.
The Mammoth heavy assault vehicles rampaged through the Reyes Legion convoy, their frames already thick and towering—far larger and higher than the Reyes Legion's armored vehicles.
Against such behemoths' violent collisions, the enemy had no resistance whatsoever.
The Fortress fire support vehicles followed behind the Mammoths, delivering finishing blows to the armored vehicles that had lost their balance and ability to fight back.
Their attack focus was solely on the enemy's vehicle-mounted weapons and tires.
Once they had destroyed a vehicle's mobility and onboard weapons, they ceased their assault and moved on to find the next target.
The attack objective was clear and precise.
And while the Mammoths and Fortresses were tearing the Reyes Legion apart,
The Peregrine Falcon high-speed assault team had also flanked from the right and reached the Reyes Legion's rear.
"Lock onto enemy command armored vehicles. Three suspicious targets. Initiate synchronized strikes!"
"Prepare 105mm rapid-fire cannons. Prepare rocket launchers. Fire!"
With the order, accompanied by a series of "hiss-hiss-hiss" sounds,
The dust covers on the missile launchers popped off, and over a dozen rockets shot toward the three command armored vehicle targets.
The rapid-fire cannons also opened up.
The Reyes Legion, which had been dealing with the frontal assault, suddenly took a devastating hit from behind. The three command armored vehicles exploded on the spot.
The other armored vehicles, startled to find enemies at their rear,
Tried to turn their guns around.
But their movements could never be faster than the shells.
Under the bombardment, one by one they were knocked out.
The Peregrine Falcon's attack targets were also the same as the Fortress's—their primary focus was on the enemy's vehicle-mounted weapons and tires.
Wheeled armored vehicles had their tires shot out; tracked vehicles had their tracks blown off. There was only one objective: render them all immobile.
Soon, the Mammoths, Fortresses, and Peregrine Falcons converged, officially sealing the Reyes Legion's fate.
Behind the armored vehicle convoy were the Pioneering Group members clad in mechanical armor, Yo-yo Assault Rifles in hand, quickly sprinting up to the Reyes Legion's now-immobile armored vehicles.
"Surrender and you won't be killed! Get out of the vehicles and surrender now!"
"Resist… and die!"
