“I’m not going back,” Wen He replied simply. “This is for not helping me when I needed you most.”

Manager Yu continued to beg until she finally got impatient.

“Fine, fine. I’m a little busy tomorrow, so maybe the day after.”

“Then you gotta squeeze in a few more performances,” Manager Yu said.

“Don’t push it!”

After some more back and forth with Manager Yu, Wen He ended the call. By then, she had lost her mood to sleep and decided to bring forward the task that she had planned for tomorrow.

She packed some things and changed into refreshing a long dress. Then, she put on a pair of sunglasses and headed out with no particular rush.

She hired a taxi to bring her to a prominent restaurant and got herself a private room. After ordering some dishes, she waited quietly for her appointment.

Half an hour later, her lawyer arrived.

“Mr Feng.”

“Good day, Ms Wen.”

They shook hands briefly. Wen He invited him to seat and started on her meal. “Have you prepared the divorce papers that I requested?”

“I have them printed out here for you. Please have a look, Ms Wen, and let me know if you need anything amended.”

“Okay.”

Wen He took the papers and browsed through them quickly.

Dissolving a marriage that involved a military staff was slightly more complicated compared to an average person’s divorce. The processing time would be longer, the process was about the same and required both parties to agree to it.

She and Huo Chen had married in a rush and were not entangled with each other financially. Thus, once they signed the papers, they would be completely separate individuals once more!

“It’s looks alright.” Wen He nodded and extended her hand. “Give me a pen.”

After signing on the dotted line with her own name, Wen He took the divorce papers, bid farewell to her lawyer and left the restaurant.

Her high heels clicked rhythmically against the floor as she rummaged through her bag while she walked.

After turning around a corner, she saw a shadow over her bag but could not respond in time.

She collided heads-on with the other person.

She dropped her bag, which fell on the floor and scattered its contents all over the place.

“Sorry.”

Wen He mumbled a quick apology and bent down to pick her up things.

To her surprise, a lean and angular arm went for some scattered documents and picked them up before she could reach them.

She looked up and saw that it was Huo Chen.

His inquisitive eyes were studying the papers.

“Huo Chen?!”

Wen He was realized in shock that he was reading the divorce papers.

She tried to snatch them away but missed. Huo Chen raised the divorce papers up high and looked at her grimly.

“What is this?”

Wen He pursed her lips and then sneered at him.

“Can’t you read?”

In the next moment, she could practically see a blizzard raging in his eyes. The air around him turned cold as he slowly stepped toward her.

Wen He felt a chill ran down her spine and took a step back.

She looked away to avoid his icy cold stare and tried to speak as calmly as she could manage, “I was going to ask Bai to send this to you, but since you have seen it, then take it with you.”

It was the last thing she could do for her.

Huo Chen was not listening to her. His mind was fully occupied with only one thought.

She wants a divorce!

“Why?”

“Huh?”

Wen He smiled sarcastically like she had just heard a joke. “Huo Chen, that should be obvious, right? Since we have made our decisions and you have gotten the special pardon papers for me, this marriage holds no meaning anymore. Since you’re already here, just sign the papers. It’s for our own good.”
