Chapter 2714 - 2715: Specialization

Chapter 2714: Chapter 2715: Specialization

As before, the green pattern hidden in the glove began to dance at Angel’s fingertips.

Soon, the green pattern at the fingertips formed a familiar structure.

"Release, Channel, Door"

A faint mist-like aura emanated from Angel’s fingertips.

In the eyes of others, the energy released by Angel carried a strange aura, extending continuously and finally probing into the True Words Tome.

Because along the way, whenever Angel released illusion techniques, similar energy auras would permeate, so no one doubted that this energy did not come from Angel.

Even the Wise Sovereign who signed the contract with Angel had not the slightest doubt.

When the energies of both parties were absorbed by the contract, Angel and the Wise Sovereign simultaneously felt the power within the contract flowing slowly, and the power of the contract began to extend from the Book of Admonitions.

Until the contract power connected Angel and the Wise Sovereign together.

In an instant, a scene appeared in Angel’s mind. In the scene, there was a Triclops Blue Demon, massive as a mountain. However, unlike other vicious-looking Triclops Blue Demons, its expression was calm, filled with wisdom, standing on an unknown mountaintop, looking up at the starry sky.

A meteor suddenly streaked across the night sky, heading straight towards the Triclops Blue Demon on the mountaintop.

In a trance, the Triclops Blue Demon reached out as if trying to grasp the meteor.

However, when the glowing meteor reached in front of the Triclops Blue Demon, it was discovered that it was merely a light, without any substance.

And this light wasn’t caught by the Triclops Blue Demon but directly merged into the center of its brow.

The gigantic blue body was bathed in the glow.

The light grew more intense until Angel’s mind was completely engulfed in golden light.

The unbearable light lasted for several seconds, and as the glow gradually faded, the Triclops Blue Demon on the mountaintop was gone, replaced by a grand group of palaces. A delicate youth with an eye on his brow stood on the Star Observation Deck under the starlight, continuing to gaze at the starry sky...

These images continuously formed in Angel’s mind and finally transformed into a contract, imprinted in the depths of the Mind Space.

Undoubtedly, the Triclops Blue Demon in the image was the Wise Sovereign.

From the moment he gazed at the starry sky, he had awakened his spirit intelligence. The meteor descending from the heavens was not a real star but a symbol, representing the enlightenment of wisdom.

In the end, after undergoing the baptism of wisdom, the Triclops Blue Demon became a sage.

After viewing the scene, Angel was still in a daze.

It was his first time signing a contract on the True Words Tome, which was completely different from the contracts he signed before. He was actually able to briefly glimpse the life of the Wise Sovereign through the energy left on the contract.

This was an experience he had never had before.

Through this experience, Angel felt as if he had lived through the life of the Wise Sovereign, becoming more acquainted with him, and also gaining a better understanding of him.

Whether this was a good or a bad thing, Angel did not know. However, Angel was now a bit worried about the situation on the Wise Sovereign’s side.

Since Angel could see a brief life of the Wise Sovereign, then according to the nature of the contract, wouldn’t the Wise Sovereign also be able to see his past?

At this thought, anxiety began to build up in Angel’s heart.

He was not afraid of his past being spied upon, as his growth trajectory was straightforward, with no major differences from others in this world, except after Jon joined, making it unique.

However, Angel feared that what the Wise Sovereign saw was not himself.

Angel now somewhat regretted using the energy of the Nightmare Realm to replace his own... Although, this statement is not entirely accurate. Angel used energy full of the Nightmare Realm’s aura, but ultimately it was still "self-produced and self-sold" by Angel. Strictly speaking, it was still his energy.

Yet, the source of this energy, even now, Angel hadn’t fully deciphered. He only knew that the green pattern was an intermediary, connecting to the Nightmare Realm.

But the Power of the Nightmare Realm couldn’t possibly flow out without reason, it was highly likely related to that one.

So, what Angel was worried about now was that the Wise Sovereign might see the life of "that one." And that one was not a benevolent presence. The last time that one was spied upon, it resulted in the fall of a Demon God...

Angel pretended to unintentionally glance across.

The Wise Sovereign had not yet opened his eyes, seemingly still immersed in the imagery given by the contract.

Seeing this, all Angel could do was to silently pray. Hoping everything would proceed smoothly...

...

The contract on the True Words Tome indeed allowed one to see some of the past of the other. However, Angel misunderstood what this past truly meant; it wasn’t a real past, but rather a specialized, summarized past.

Just like the scene Angel saw, the Wise Sovereign reaching out to grasp the meteor, standing on the Star Observation Deck gazing at the night sky, in reality, none of these ever happened.

The Wise Sovereign never did these things; they are merely a generalized "specialization" or "beautification."

It is the power of the contract, simulated through some unknown means.

And because it’s fabricated, there’s no worry about one’s secrets being discovered by the other.

Otherwise, the Wise Sovereign would never have freely signed the contract. Angel has secrets—does he not have secrets as well?

At this moment, the Wise Sovereign, as Angel suspected, was indeed viewing the "past" specialized by the contract’s power.

However, the more the Wise Sovereign saw, the more puzzled he became. What exactly was he seeing?

His current perspective was on a pitch-black balcony, where, besides the faint light from a window, there was no other light source. There wasn’t even starlight or moonlight; the sky was completely dark, and the Wise Sovereign doubted whether there were even clouds?

Because it was so dark, he couldn’t clearly see the surrounding scenery, only vaguely making out that he seemed to be standing on the balcony of a noble’s castle.

"Noble castle." This implied that Angel once was a noble. From some of Angel’s mannerisms, the Wise Sovereign also reckoned he indeed had noble roots.

So why was the area surrounding this noble castle so dull? Was it because the specialized scene just happened to fall on a lightless night?

The Wise Sovereign couldn’t see the circumstances around him clearly and could only peer inside through the window.

Inside, there was indeed a faint glow, but... to the Wise Sovereign’s frustration, the curtain was closed!

Luckily, the curtain had a small gap, allowing him to glimpse a bit inside. But, the view was indeed limited.

One could only see that the interior seemed delicately arranged, with a desk nearby, the lamp atop it aglow.

On the desk, a hand rapidly scribbled something onto the crumpled parchment.

But that was the extent of what he could see, as the rest was obscured by the curtain.

Even the owner of the hand is unclear. However, this is just a complaint in the mind of the Wise Sovereign; the one appearing in this specialized image is undoubtedly Angel.

Since the Wise Sovereign cannot clearly see Angel, he seeks a way to glimpse what Angel is writing.

But the more he looks, the more puzzled he becomes, as there is no writing on the parchment. What’s going on? Clearly, a feather pen is used for quick writing, but the page is completely blank?

As question marks continuously popped up in the Wise Sovereign’s mind, the hand that was writing suddenly stopped.

The Wise Sovereign distinctly sees the reflection on the table suddenly elongate.

"Angel" stood up!

The sound of footsteps is heard as Angel walks towards the window!

The Wise Sovereign even catches a glimpse of the long golden hair tail through a gap. This matches the image of golden long hair reflected in the initial True Words Tome.

Back then, the appearance wasn’t clearly visible, but now that the person is walking towards the window, the appearance should be visible, right?

As the Wise Sovereign is pondering this, the curtain is pulled open.

But simultaneously, the image is cut away.

The Wise Sovereign sees nothing but the "rustle" sound of the curtain being opened, and suddenly his view is filled with dim yellow light before the scene switches to another location.

The Wise Sovereign feels slightly regretful for not seeing Angel’s true face. Yet, he understands that image transitions in such specialization represent elongated time scales or, in other words... "Growth."

The previous image likely estimated that "Angel" was still a mortal, engaging in some noble’s daily life.

And now this image should be after "Angel" has grown to become an Extraordinary Life.

With this thought, the Wise Sovereign gazes around, and then he... falls silent.

Standing on the balcony just now, surrounded by pitch darkness was bearable, but now the second image is equally dark, what exactly is happening?

Why are Angel’s specialized images so bleak? Is it because his heart is very dark? The Wise Sovereign speculates wildly, but realistically he cannot tell how dark Angel’s heart is.

Despite current concepts of Black Wizards and White Wizards, the Wise Sovereign being a veteran who’s seen countless people, can generally discern whether one’s spirit leans towards darkness or light.

Angel is absolutely not inclined to darkness.

Yet, his specialized images are simply like this.

The Wise Sovereign can only attribute the responsibility to the contract’s power, World Will, as these simulations are formed by the contract, and the contract is the World Will’s manifestation.

Returning to the scene, although it’s completely dark making it hard to discern the surroundings, this darkness is not absolute as there’s a button-sized hole in front through which faint light is visible, allowing one to roughly guess the situation around.

...Looking at that button-sized hole, the Wise Sovereign inexplicably feels familiarity; this sensation is much like when standing on the balcony before.

The balcony was also pitch-black, with only the light from the curtain gap filtering through. And here, the only light is coming through the hole.

Shaking off these chaotic thoughts, the Wise Sovereign begins observing the specific location in the image.

But upon seeing this, the Wise Sovereign’s expression becomes more puzzled and complex.

This world is actually inside a cabinet?!

In Angel’s specialized images, why are perspectives becoming more bizarre each time?

As the Wise Sovereign is filled with complaints, a familiar sound of footsteps reaches his ears.

Previously, outside the window, the Wise Sovereign heard this familiar footstep sound; but then it arrived at the window and opened the curtain when the scene cut away.

Thus, the Wise Sovereign can pretty much determine that the footstep sound surely comes from "Angel."

The footsteps grow louder, suggesting Angel is probably walking this way.

Judging from the sound source, the footsteps come from directly ahead, implying that through the button-sized hole, Angel’s true face should be visible?

At this moment, the Wise Sovereign no longer considers why he must see Angel’s true face; it is perhaps an obsession?

The Wise Sovereign eagerly leans forward.

The Wise Sovereign yet does not notice that the footsteps outside have vanished.

As his eyes align with the hole, his long-dormant heart suddenly skips a beat.

This... this is...

He thought he would see Angel’s true face, but instead, he sees an eye through the hole.

An eye peeking into the cabinet.

At the moment he sees the eye, the surrounding image seems to be infused with water, restoring light; he has snapped out from the specialization produced by the contract.

Meanwhile, a glow flickers on the True Words Tome as the contract gradually fades away. This means... the contract is finalized.

However, the success of the contract signing does not cause much fluctuation for the Wise Sovereign. More than this, he is interested in the pair of eyes outside the hole.

Those are extremely special eyes.

Azure blue irises with densely woven green light patterns surrounding the pupils; these light patterns look like "blood vessels" in the whites of the eyes, yet they are pulsating, spreading. It appears uniquely beautiful but also extremely eerie.

Are these Angel’s true eyes?

The Wise Sovereign can’t help but raise his head, looking towards Angel directly opposite him. Currently, Angel’s eyes are golden, not resembling the specialized image.

Yet, in Angel’s right eye, the Wise Sovereign can vaguely see several drifting green patterns.

Seeing this, the Wise Sovereign confirms that Angel’s true eyes indeed possess strange green patterns.

Although he does not know what these green patterns are, the Wise Sovereign refrains from inquiring, as this might be Angel’s talent, probing someone’s abilities casually isn’t polite.

Nevertheless, while the Wise Sovereign doesn’t ask about the green patterns, he cannot resist making a snide comment to Angel.

"How terribly hideous is your true face? That you need such heavy concealment?"

Reality obscured by Shapeshifting Technique and Illusion Technique is one thing, but now even in the specialized image formed by the contract, his true face isn’t visible.

Angel: "Ah?"

Angel relaxes slightly seeing the Wise Sovereign’s awakening. However, upon hearing the Wise Sovereign’s question, he is utterly confused.
