Chapter 1429: Chapter 606: Imperial Court_3
Laine understood this, after all, the Church needed to make a living. The Death God Sect rarely manages to collect tithes; their main income comes from funeral fees and donations from nobles.
The greatest followers of Lady Justice Vanrena are the residents of Brunswick and Nuer, especially the upright bureaucrats, enlightened nobles, scholars, wizards, and those reasonably educated citizens. Vanrena is also the wife of Death God Moore.
"Hmm." Laine planned to begin implementing the circuit trial system; having heard this, he decided not to say more.
After visiting the Imperial Court’s trial, Laine and others entered the Imperial Palace to have lunch with the Emperor’s family.
On the snowy afternoon, along the snow-covered cobblestones, the Emperor and the Rick Guards led Laine and his entourage towards the Brunswick Royal Zoo.
Carl Franz wore a purple and gold shirt and breeches, covered with a luxurious imperial satin robe. The Rune Fang of Rick Territory hung at his waist, symbolizing his status as the Grand Prince of Rick. As for the Divine Hammer Gail-Malaz, it was not present; reportedly, this hammer is enshrined within the Justice Cathedral when the Emperor is not out waging war or asserting his imperial authority.
"Last time you came to Brunswick, you mentioned wanting to visit the Royal Zoo," Emperor Carl Franz chuckled. "But when I arranged a tour for you, you were in a hurry to leave, so you didn’t visit in the end. Why were you so eager to leave? It seemed like you had some goal in mind."
"Hehehe, at that time, it was Lord Tygris who told me he planned to return," Laine replied, slightly embarrassed, using Tygris as a shield. "He said he’d been in the Old World for a while, and the Royal Wizard Academy of the High Elf Safuri Kingdom Hos White Tower Mage Council could not be without him, the Supreme Grandmaster, for too long. As he left, I felt I shouldn’t stay much longer either."
"I see." Indeed, the Emperor of the Empire naturally admired and liked Tygris, considering the tremendous accomplishments and contributions Tygris brought to the Empire through the Great Holy War and the establishment of the Royal Wizard Academy. Hearing it was Tygris’s intention, the Emperor said no more and began introducing the history of the Imperial Royal Zoo: "The Imperial Royal Zoo was established by Emperor Dairte IV, long before the Great Holy War and the foundation of the New Empire. This is the largest home and repository of dangerous animals in the Old World, also providing sufficient mounts for the Imperial Army."
After speaking, the Emperor suddenly smiled meaningfully: "The zoo is also the primary producer of Imperial Warhorses; these warhorses mainly come from Avey Territory, a plain abundant in warhorses... Laine, you and Lady Surya rode your own mounts here, correct? Are you interested in bringing them around for a stroll? We have many beautiful mares here."
"As long as Grape finds it appealing, I have no objections," Laine laughed. "However, I won’t force my mount to do anything; I should remind you, Grape has a bad temper."
"Good mounts are always scarce," the Emperor caught Laine’s underlying meaning and shrugged: "Of course, my mount, Death’s Claw, is also here."
"Your Majesty Carl Franz." At this point, Surya, holding Laine’s arm, spoke with great interest: "I heard there’s a dragon in the Imperial Zoo?"
"Well..."
