Chapter 1399: Chapter 596: Birth of the Heir Apparent

Actually, the departure of the Ancient Saints didn’t leave entirely without any contact.

In the Mist City, there is a very peculiar ancient device; using it allows one to hear echoes from the depths of the stars—a sound extremely old and obscure, no one knows whether it’s a language or a communication device left by the Ancient Saints.

Once, the first generation of Demon Toads, led by Great Lord Crok, knew how to operate this thing. Unfortunately, during the Chaos Invasion, all first-generation Demon Toads died in battle. The remaining second-generation Demon Toads hadn’t been passed down enough knowledge, which led them to know how to maintain the device but not how to use it.

Everything changed after the Emperor arrived in Itaza. The Master of Humans decoded the knowledge of the Ancient Saints. Though the knowledge was incomplete, he still utilized the Ancient Saints’ technology to establish a stable communication channel with the Throne Hall.

Then now, the instrument often spouts the voice of the Primarch of the Thousand Sons, Magnus.

"Father told me that the Subspace storm surrounding this planet has become stronger," Fugen said softly. "Since he has already blessed Princess Surya, all matters here are entrusted to me to handle."

"Very well." Laine, a bit disappointed, quickly came to terms. After all, the Emperor has countless matters to deal with. How could he possibly rely on his Supreme Power to traverse the eternal giant Subspace storm to come back to this world frequently?

"Is that all he said?" Angerong was quite dissatisfied as he stuffed long bread filled with vegetables, salad dressing, and roast pork into his mouth. "His two favorite sons are here! One was given a sword and armor; the other, just a sword. How come he didn’t say a bit more?"

"Hehehe, Angerong, can you guess what father has been up to lately?" Fugen maintained a standard smile, which seemed rather forced.

"How would I know? Probably digesting Ancient Saint’s technology." Angerong shook his head. He indeed was uninterested in these matters and didn’t understand them.

"The Space Wolves Chapter Master Logan Grinner has already sent something to Holy Terra," Fugen continued, knowing Angerong was uninterested. "Do you remember? You confronted each other on Armageddon."

"What thing was sent to Holy Terra?" Angerong seemed to recall something painfully from his memories when he was the Ascension Demon Primarch under Khorne. He could vaguely remember that he attacked Armageddon, initially succeeding at each step, and Ruth’s pack of sons were no match for him at all.

But the Grey Knights appeared, and the Space Wolves eventually teamed up with the Grey Knights to defeat and banish him on Armageddon.

As Angerong was still puzzled, Laine already sensed something.

Space Wolves? Ancient Saint’s technology?

Before Laine could voice his question, Fugen spoke: "Remember the youngest lad among Ruth’s favorite personal guards?"

"Bjorn - Deathblow, the first Head Wolf after Ruth," Fugen smiled. "Do you remember the technology father acquired in Tiriel?"

"Reforge the soul into an immortal Heavenly Warrior?!" Angerong remembered. "Casting the strong soul into the immortal Divine Fire to reforge it—reforging the mortal soul... Wait! I’ve got it, Ruth’s wolf cub! Bjorn - Deathblow, he’s still alive! The thing the pack of sons was escorting must be?!"

"Yes, exactly, the Space Wolves’ Fearless with over ten thousand years of history," Fugen nodded calmly. "It contains Bjorn’s remains and his soul."

"Through the close collaboration and repeated experiments by father, Vulcan, and Kaur, Kaur has successfully completed numerous experiments on many Mechanicus-Priests within the Mechanical God Cult’s Titan Order. Facts prove that the technology left by the Ancient Saints is entirely feasible, combining Vulcan’s hammer, father’s Light of the Star Torch and Endless Great Power, and Kaur’s advanced technology—under the Light of the Star Torch’s flame and mighty thunder, a new warrior has been reforged on Terra."

"Father decided, the first veteran to undergo reforging and prepare to return to the battlefield is the elder of the Space Wolves Chapter, the first Head Wolf after Ruth, Bjorn - Deathblow." Fugen’s eyes burned with flames. "Those veterans from the Great Expedition Era, as long as their souls remain, will gradually return to the battlefield."

"This is truly... I must say, not bad at all." Angerong was moved. After a moment of silence, he said, "It seems father is also very busy; we have to handle matters on our own for now."

"We’re always meant to rely on ourselves." Fugen frowned. "Since he sent Laine to this world, he’s begun his layout."

"Is this world that important to father?" Laine interjected, the Grey Knight Primarch also furrowing his brows. He initially thought the Emperor sent him to this world for practice, but now it seems far more complex.

"Extremely important. This world is equivalent to a second Cadia," Fugen nodded, his brows tightly knitted. "This planet is exceptionally special, very, very special!"

"Father told me that the Ancient Saints chose this planet precisely because it has become linked with Subspace, similar to Cadia. If this world is conquered and destroyed by Chaos, the Chaos Demons will gain a new passage to freely enter and exit the Main Material Universe! A second Eye of Fear."
