War God Long Ao
Chapter 597: Divine Beast Water Dragon
Chapter 597: Chapter 597: Divine Beast Water Dragon
Everyone knew that Long Ao had already left Cloud Island.
Long Ao’s identity was no secret.
Wang Hao and Yang Jian knew full well that to find Long Ao, they would first have to leave the Outer Sea and travel to Kyushu.
Although both were Divine Dao Martial Artists, they still had Reincarnation Bodies. If they rashly traveled to Kyushu at this time, their efforts would likely backfire.
The two nodded to each other. Wang Hao spoke first, "Even if we team up, we might not be a match for Long Ao."
"Why don’t we awaken our Divine Spirits first? Once we break through to the Great Emperor Realm, we can go after him."
"It’s a deal."
"And our word is our bond."
Yang Jian hadn’t destroyed the Long Family estate. After all, its members were already gone. If he hadn’t even spared the buildings, wouldn’t he have become a laughingstock?
News that the entire Long Family had vanished, and that Long Jian had made the trip for nothing, spread throughout Yun City.
Only then did everyone realize the Long Family had been prepared all along.
They had vanished without a trace long before Long Jian even arrived. Now, Cloud Island had no overlord. Only the Ye Family remained as the sole major power.
In the past, the Ye Family would have certainly seized control of Cloud Island, living a fine life as its "Supreme Emperor." But now, even with the Sacred Land destroyed and the Long Family’s whereabouts unknown, the Ye Family didn’t dare to casually claim dominance over the island.
The Ye Family weren’t fools. The Long Family had only left temporarily out of fear of Yang Jian’s revenge.
If the Ye Family were to claim control of Cloud Island, how would they face the Long Family when they eventually returned?
Given the Long Family’s current power, their ten Holy Beasts alone would be enough to annihilate the Ye Family with ease. That was why, despite the Sacred Land’s destruction and the Long Family’s disappearance, no one dared to claim dominance over Cloud Island.
「Outer Sea.」
Tsunamis ravaged countless islands, and no sect or family dared to venture into the Outer Sea. Whenever such waves swept through, anyone caught in them—even a Divine Dao Martial Artist—would be instantly torn to pieces.
Long Ao lay quietly on the surface of the sea.
With a low groan, Long Ao’s eyes snapped open. A single glance was all it took for him to breathe a sigh of relief.
’I’m incredibly lucky to be alive.’
Long Ao knew he had only escaped the Golden Tiger Shark’s pursuit for two reasons. First was his Desolate Divine Body. Second, he had the tsunami to thank. Otherwise, the Golden Tiger Shark would have surely found him.
A Divine Beast’s power was enough to shatter the heavens and sunder the earth. Even in the vast Outer Sea, it wouldn’t have been difficult for it to find him.
But then, the tsunami had suddenly swept across the entire sea. He believed that not even a Divine Beast would dare to defy its power. In a way, the tsunami had saved his life.
Gazing at the terrifying waterspouts and tsunamis around him, Long Ao’s expression instantly grew grim.
’How could I possibly withstand a tsunami that even Divine Dao Martial Artists fear?’
"Long Fu, can you help me get underwater and hide?"
Although Long Ao was a powerful Saint, he couldn’t hide in the sea indefinitely. No one knew how long the tsunamis would last. If they continued for ten days, or even several months, he would be out of luck.
’It would be a terrible waste to survive the Golden Tiger Shark only to die in a tsunami.’
"One moment, Master."
Long Fu seemed to understand the urgency of the situation and didn’t dare to delay. He produced a small, eye-sized, aquamarine sphere from out of nowhere and handed it to Long Ao. "Master, this is a Water-Repelling Pearl left behind by the old master. It’s incredibly precious. As long as you carry it with you into the sea, you will be fine no matter how long you stay."
Taking the Water-Repelling Pearl from Long Fu, Long Ao felt a surge of frustration. ’Something this good, and you’re only giving it to me now? I almost got killed!’
Long Ao didn’t dare hesitate for a moment. Who knew when the tsunami might crash down on him? If his luck ran out and he got swept away, there would be no one to complain to.
’Luck doesn’t stick with you forever,’ Long Ao knew.
Carrying the Water-Repelling Pearl, Long Ao plunged directly into the sea.
In all his life, this was Long Ao’s first time in the Outer Sea, and his first time submerging himself in it. Everything about the world beneath the waves was completely new to him.
Nevertheless, Long Ao remained cautious and vigilant. According to legend, the Outer Sea was teeming with Divine Beasts. If he were unlucky enough to stumble upon one, he’d be like a lamb in a tiger’s den—utterly unable to escape.
He had to admit, the world beneath the sea was truly beautiful. It was a kaleidoscope of colors, filled with all sorts of Spirit Beasts and other creatures. This was nature in its purest form.
This time, Long Ao’s luck wasn’t quite as good; he didn’t have another epiphany.
Even so, Long Ao was quite satisfied. For a Martial Artist, an epiphany was a matter of chance, not something one could actively seek out. Some Martial Artists might go their entire lives without experiencing one, which showed just how rare they were.
As Long Ao carried the Water-Repelling Pearl, a small pocket of Space seemed to form around him, which the seawater could not penetrate. The pearl truly was a magical item. No wonder Long Tian had kept it safe.
’A Water Dragon?’
Suddenly, Long Ao froze. His eyes bulged in disbelief as he stared at a Giant Dragon, as large as a small mountain, in the distance.
The creature looked no different from any other Giant Dragon, with one exception: its entire body was a deep, watery blue. It was fast asleep, and if not for its thunderous snores, Long Ao likely would have never noticed its presence.
Water Dragons were an incredibly powerful branch of the Dragon Race. In the Outer Sea, a Water Dragon’s might could rival that of a Five-Clawed Golden Dragon. On land, however, their strength would plummet; they couldn’t even compare to a Five-Clawed Golden Dragon, let alone defeat an ordinary Giant Dragon.
Long Ao never would have imagined that less than an hour after entering the sea, he would encounter such a powerful Divine Beast Water Dragon. It seemed the Outer Sea was truly full of hidden masters. Even Divine Beasts were a common sight.
Long Ao just watched quietly, not daring to approach and disturb it. The Divine Beast Water Dragon’s strength was terrifying; not even ten Golden Tiger Sharks would be a match for it.
Long Ao decided not to press on. He still didn’t know when the tsunami would subside, and he had been grievously injured by the Golden Tiger Shark. This was a perfect opportunity to rest and recuperate.
If he went somewhere else, he could run into other Holy or Divine Beasts at any moment. He might even have the bad luck of running into the Golden Tiger Shark again. The risk wasn’t worth the reward.
’The Divine Beast Water Dragon is likely the most powerful existence on the Outer Sea Floor. If I hide and cultivate near it, I believe that even if the Golden Tiger Shark comes after me, it won’t dare to act rashly.’
With a sly grin, Long Ao immediately sat down and began to recuperate.
The tsunamis continued to rage, and the sea’s surface churned violently. But deep on the ocean floor, the Five-headed Golden Tiger Shark was frantically searching for its enemy’s corpse. There were, however, certain places it dared not approach—like the domain of the Divine Beast Water Dragon.
’It’s here.’ Long Ao’s heart sank as he watched the Five-headed Golden Tiger Shark slowly approach in the distance.
