War God Long Ao
Chapter 578: Golden Dragon Divine Pill
He hid quietly inside the cave.
All Long Ao could think about was the Path of Reincarnation.
Nine reincarnations. The ultimate cycle of nine.
Long Ao never would have imagined that Long Tian had actually reincarnated nine times. He had to admit, Long Tian’s courage was truly admirable.
‘It’s back again.’
He cursed inwardly. After all this time, the Celestial Dao had clearly not left. Its aura still blanketed the area. If he showed the slightest fluctuation, the Celestial Dao would discover him instantly.
The Celestial Dao and Long Ao. At this moment, the two were clearly locked in a contest of patience.
‘Could this person have already left?’
Suspended in mid-air, its aura blanketed Spirit Beast Island and even the entire Outer Sea. But after all this time, it still hadn’t sensed any Origin Aura.
The Celestial Dao had absolute confidence. No matter who it was, as long as they had stolen the Origin Aura, it would be able to sense them instantly, regardless of where they hid. But now?
The Celestial Dao considered that the thief’s power might far exceed its own comprehension. ‘Even if they aren’t on par with Long Tian and the Ancient Divine Dragon of old, they can’t be far off. Who could it be?’
The Celestial Dao ran through the list of the most powerful beings in Heaven and Earth, but it still didn’t have the slightest clue.
At that moment, the Celestial Dao’s expression was unbelievably grim.
The Celestial Dao was now genuinely wary. It didn’t fear experts coming for a challenge, but it dreaded someone stealing the Power of Origin. Fusing with the Power of Origin was no simple matter, but one could never be too careful. It was the “what if” that was most terrifying.
The Celestial Dao would not give up.
Even if there was only a one-in-ten-thousand chance, the Celestial Dao would nip it in the bud.
However, the Celestial Dao did not linger on Spirit Beast Island. It had absolute confidence in its power and had scanned the area with its aura no less than a hundred times. It seemed the person had truly left.
Although, the Celestial Dao had no idea how this person had managed to leave.
After much thought, the Celestial Dao could only come up with one possibility: a Teleportation Array. The person must have used a Teleportation Array to leave Spirit Beast Island. Otherwise, no one in the world could have escaped its senses.
Ultimately, the Celestial Dao left Spirit Beast Island, but it had no intention of giving up.
The Celestial Dao wouldn’t let even the slightest chance slip by. It was now anxious to an extreme. It prepared to seek out the few most powerful beings in all of Heaven and Earth besides itself. If any of them were responsible, the Celestial Dao would not spare a single one. Kill.
Although he sensed that the Celestial Dao’s aura had vanished, Long Ao didn’t dare let his own energy fluctuate in the slightest.
No one knew if the Celestial Dao had truly left.
Sure enough, three minutes later, the Celestial Dao’s aura returned, blanketing the area once more. It lingered for a full few minutes before gradually fading away.
But Long Ao still didn’t come out. Three minutes later, the Celestial Dao’s aura returned again. This happened two or three more times, as if the Celestial Dao was reluctant to give up. It was only after the third time that it finally left for good.
Only then did Long Ao finally breathe a sigh of relief and slowly walk out of the cave.
Long Ao knew that escaping the Celestial Dao’s notice was an incredible stroke of luck. If not for Long Fu’s help, he was certain that he would have been annihilated by the Celestial Dao.
It would be a lie to say he wasn’t still terrified. After all, the Celestial Dao was the most powerful Martial Artist in all of Heaven and Earth. Even the combined might of Long Tian and the Ancient Divine Dragon of old had been unable to stand against it.
“Master, although the Celestial Dao has left Spirit Beast Island, it will certainly be watching the Outer Sea at all times. For the time being, you shouldn’t leave Spirit Beast Island.”
“I understand. But I’m going to use this time to go back.”
Long Ao’s words startled Long Fu. He couldn’t understand what had gotten into his master. ‘We just barely managed to hide from the Celestial Dao’s aura. Is he really going back just to get himself killed?’
Long Fu knew exactly what Long Ao meant. “Master,” he said, worried, “even if the Celestial Dao itself doesn’t show up, its Celestial Dao Avatar alone is enough to kill you in an instant. The remains of the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon are important, but they aren’t worth dying for.”
Long Ao understood Long Fu’s concern.
But this was just the kind of person Long Ao was: he insisted on walking into danger, even when he knew it was there.
It was just as the saying goes: “He knew there were tigers on the mountain, yet on he went.”
“Long Fu, you just said it yourself. Once the remains of the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon are fused with a soul, it will have no problem fending off a Void Saint Martial Artist. If I can refine a Five-Clawed Golden Dragon Corpse Slave for the Sect, our Sect’s position will be that much more secure.”
“Master, have you really made up your mind?”
“I know what I’m doing. Long Fu, just focus on refining the Corpse Slave.”
Hearing this, Long Fu said no more. He knew his master’s personality too well; once a decision was made, it was nearly impossible to change his mind.
Long Ao didn’t return to the cave immediately. He knew the Celestial Dao Avatar had just failed in its duty and would now be on high alert. To go back at this moment would be suicide.
So, Long Ao waited. He was waiting for the Celestial Dao Avatar to lower its guard. When that happened, his chances of success would increase dramatically.
Just then, Long Ao suddenly sensed Long Qiang calling out to him. Although Long Qiang was still unable to speak, the bond between them as partners allowed Long Ao to understand his meaning.
Long Ao was astonished by what Long Qiang conveyed.
Long Ao never would have imagined that the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon’s Divine Pill had not been taken by the Celestial Dao. He didn’t know why the Celestial Dao hadn’t seized it, but the message Long Qiang had just conveyed was simple: Long Qiang needed that Divine Pill.
Long Ao knew full well what the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon’s Divine Pill meant for Long Qiang. Before, he had only wanted to get the dragon’s remains. Now, it was clear that no matter what difficulties he faced or what might happen, he had to help Long Qiang obtain this Divine Pill.
Long Fu had already said that this Five-Clawed Golden Dragon’s power was immense, second only to the Ancient Divine Dragon. That meant its Divine Pill was also one of the most formidable treasures in all of Heaven and Earth. Once Long Qiang obtained it, Long Ao was sure it would be a tremendous boost to his Cultivation.
Long Ao did not tell Long Fu about this.
Without the slightest hesitation, Long Ao immediately found a quiet place, sat down on the ground, and began to recuperate. He had to be perfectly prepared, as there was no telling what dangers he would face upon returning to the cave.
The Celestial Dao Avatar was incomparably powerful. Even if it couldn’t match the Ancient Divine Dragon, he believed its power was on par with, or perhaps even greater than, the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon’s.
「Inside the cave.」
The Celestial Dao Avatar returned the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon’s body to its original spot. The Dragon Race had no idea that the Celestial Dao had slain the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon; if they did, who knew how they would react.
The Celestial Dao Avatar knew it had made a grave error, so it was especially vigilant over the next few days. However, the avatar was overconfident. It believed the previous failure was a mere accident—one that would absolutely not happen a second time.
