War God Long Ao
Chapter 560: None of Your Damn Business
Ever since returning to the Long Family, Long Ao had remained in seclusion, focused on refining elixirs.
Long Ao knew that if he wanted Long Heng to awaken his Thunder Constitution and rapidly increase his cultivation speed, there was only one way: stimulating it with an elixir.
This kind of Thunder Elixir was exceptionally difficult to concoct. Even with Long Ao’s comprehension and skill in alchemy, it took him a full day and night to barely produce a single one.
After Long Heng took it, he immediately entered seclusion to begin his cultivation.
「Ten days later.」
Long Heng’s eyes flew open in pleasant surprise, his face a mask of excitement. He was so thrilled that his entire body seemed to tremble.
Unable to wait, Long Heng immediately sought out Long Ao and said excitedly, “Master, thank you! I really mean it! After taking the elixir you refined, my cultivation broke through directly from the Venerable Realm to Peak Great Venerable!”
Long Heng never imagined his cultivation would progress so much this time. He had become a Peak Great Venerable Martial Artist in a single leap. ‘Doesn’t this mean I’m now on the same level as Wang Hao?’
Long Ao showed no surprise, merely nodding with indifference.
“Master, aren’t you excited?”
Long Heng felt as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped over him. One moment he was ecstatic, and the next he felt like he had done something right only to receive no praise.
With such a breakthrough in his cultivation, what Long Heng wanted most was his master’s praise. After all, jumping directly from a Venerable to the Peak of Great Venerable was a leap he had never even heard of. It was completely unprecedented.
“With your Thunder Constitution, your natural talent, and three years of foundation building, this breakthrough was within my expectations. If you had built your foundation for another year, it wouldn’t have been difficult for you to break through directly to the Void Saint Realm.”
‘The Void Saint Realm?’
If his master had told him this ten days ago, Long Heng would have never believed it. But now, a living example was right in front of him—one he had experienced himself.
“Master, does this mean I’ve lost my chance to break through to the Void Saint Realm?”
He sighed deeply. Still, breaking through to the Peak of Great Venerable was already fantastic. Long Heng knew that if he hadn’t met his master, he would never have reached the so-called Great Venerable Realm in his entire life.
Smiling, Long Ao suddenly said, “Although your progress was a bit slow, I believe your future cultivation speed will increase. If nothing unexpected happens, you should be able to break through to the Void Saint Realm within a year.”
“Master, are you serious? You’re not pulling my leg, are you?”
“Would there be any point?”
At this moment, Long Heng would never doubt Long Ao. He believed whatever Long Ao said. Because of this, hearing that he could break through to the Void Saint Realm within a year made him absolutely ecstatic. His face flushed red from the intense excitement.
“Fourth Young Master, the Patriarch requests that you and Long Ao go to the main hall.”
While he was still thrilled with excitement, Long Heng was taken aback by the message from his subordinate. He was curious why his father would summon him at a time like this.
“Master.”
“Since your father has summoned us, let’s go. I haven’t taken a single step out of here while I was doing alchemy these past few days anyway.”
Long Ao might not have gone for anyone else, but Long Bai was Long Heng’s father. He had to show him some respect for his disciple’s sake.
When the two arrived at the main hall, they saw only three people inside. The Long Family’s Patriarch, Long Bai, was seated in a subordinate position. In the seats of honor, however, sat two middle-aged men—one fat, one thin—who gave off an extremely arrogant air.
“Master, be careful. Those two are probably from the Holy Mountain.”
‘Holy Mountain?’
Long Ao hadn’t expected the Holy Mountain to send people specifically for him. ‘They must be bored out of their minds.’ He guessed this was the case because Long Bai hadn’t summoned anyone else, only him and Long Heng, which spoke for itself.
Seeing the two enter, Luo Fei and Su Yi didn’t even spare them a glance, maintaining their high-and-mighty demeanor. The sight infuriated Long Heng. If he weren’t wary of the Holy Mountain, he would have attacked them already.
“You’re Long Ao?”
Ignoring the two men, Long Ao sat down directly in a seat to the right. He looked at Long Bai across from him and asked, “Patriarch Long, I wonder what business you summoned me for?”
Long Bai’s heart skipped a beat when he saw Long Ao ignore the two Envoys from the Holy Mountain, but he still replied, “Sect Leader Long, these two are Envoys from the Holy Mountain. They’ve come here mainly because they have business with you.”
“You’re Long Ao?”
“Whether I’m Long Ao or not is none of your damn business.”
‘If you’re arrogant, I’m even more arrogant.’ That was the kind of person Long Ao was. If the two Saints had been civil, perhaps he would have acted normally. But they were acting so high and mighty that Long Ao found them utterly detestable. If he weren’t afraid of implicating the Long Family, he wouldn’t even be speaking to them.
“Kid, you’re very arrogant.”
The two men showed no anger, because from the very beginning, they hadn’t considered Long Ao to be worth their notice.
The Holy Mountain was the true hegemon of Cloud Island, standing above the three great families.
Precisely because of this, the Holy Mountain’s word was law on Cloud Island, and no one dared to provoke them. That was why the two men were so incredibly arrogant. Forget Long Ao, who was merely an outsider who had just arrived on Cloud Island; they didn’t even show any respect for the Patriarch of the Long Family.
One had to understand that the Patriarch of the Long Family, Long Bai—Long Heng’s father—was a genuine Realm King expert. As for the two Envoys from the Holy Mountain, they were only Earth Venerables. But even so, the two Envoys were as cocky as could be.
This showed the importance of having powerful backing.
“Whether I’m arrogant or not is still none of your business. If you have something to say, say it. If you have to fart, then let it rip. I don’t have time to entertain a couple of bored-stiff losers like you.”
Long Ao gave them no face at all. Never mind that they were Holy Mountain Envoys; even an ordinary person would not let such an insult slide.
“Long Ao, you’re courting death.”
“Saints, please calm down. Sect Leader Long has just arrived on Cloud Island and isn’t familiar with its customs. Please forgive him.”
Long Bai and Long Heng were utterly exasperated. They couldn’t understand why Long Ao was being so aggressive. No matter what, the other party were Envoys sent by the Holy Mountain. Disrespecting the two Saints was a clear sign that he held the Holy Mountain in contempt.
Of course, Long Bai knew Long Ao’s background very well. But the problem was that this was the Outer Sea Cloud Island, not the Kyushu Continent. He was too far from his source of power. If the Holy Mountain truly decided to deal with him, what would he use to fight back?
But Long Ao completely ignored them, staring intently at the so-called Envoys of the Holy Mountain. Word by word, he said coldly, “I’ll say this one last time: if you have business, state it. If you have to fart, let it out. I don’t have time to waste talking nonsense with two people who clearly have nothing better to do. The Holy Mountain… so much for its reputation.”
Long Ao’s meaning was simple: this was a provocation. The two Envoys weren’t fools; of course they knew what he meant.
