War God Long Ao
Chapter 547: Obediently Shut Up
Chapter 547: Chapter 547: Obediently Shut Up
"Big Brother, every time I come back, I want to kill someone."
Hearing Long Qian’Er’s words, Long Ao sighed inwardly.
He knew, of course, why she felt that way. The moment they had arrived, the two guards at the Long Family’s gate had a clear look of mockery in their eyes.
Perhaps they held their tongues only because they were wary of Long Heng’s status.
Their disdain was completely undisguised. Anyone could see it. Long Ao saw it, Long Qian’Er saw it, and Long Heng, the target of their contempt, certainly saw it.
But Long Heng acted as if he didn’t notice, treating the two men as if they were thin air.
Long Heng smiled and said, "Brother Long, this is my family. If you don’t mind, you can stay here for a while and recuperate."
"Thank you."
This was his first time in the Outer Sea and his first time setting foot on Cloud Island. Everything was unfamiliar. Long Ao had already decided to stay with the Long Family for a few days.
Long Heng was willing, but others were not.
Just as the three were about to enter the Long Family’s estate, Long Heng and Long Qian’Er were allowed to pass, but the two guards stopped Long Ao.
"Are you two blind?"
Long Qian’Er’s fiery temper flared up again. As the Patriarch’s own daughter, her status alone—never mind her actual strength—was far beyond what two mere guards could afford to provoke.
"Young Miss, the Patriarch has ordered that you are to go to him the moment you return, without any delay."
’Not a moment’s delay?’
Slightly surprised, Long Qian’Er wondered why her father had summoned her so urgently. She glanced at her older brother and asked, "Big Brother, any idea what Father wants?"
"Go on. Leave this to me."
She gave her older brother a long look. Not daring to delay her father’s summons, she turned and left, disappearing from sight in moments.
"Long Ao is my friend. He’s a disciple from another Long family."
The great Young Master of the family, son of the Patriarch himself, had to explain himself to two gatekeepers just to bring a friend home. That alone spoke volumes about Long Heng’s true status in the family.
Long Ao said nothing. This was, after all, a Long Family matter, and it wasn’t his place as an outsider to interfere.
"Young Master, please forgive our audacity, but the Patriarch has just issued an order: anyone who is not a member of our family must be searched before entering. We hope you can understand."
Before Long Heng could speak, the two guards stepped forward, reaching out to search Long Ao.
Suddenly, the two guards let out muffled grunts. Then came Long Ao’s icy voice.
"Long Heng already said I’m his friend. You’re nothing but watchdogs. If you value your lives, shut your mouths. Otherwise, I will kill you without mercy."
Long Ao’s voice was like something out of Hell, devoid of all emotion. It sent a violent shiver down the guards’ spines. They wanted to say something, but the words wouldn’t come out.
Long Heng seemed surprised, but he also felt a deep sense of satisfaction. Three years ago, these curs had been nothing but respectful. And now?
Watching the two of them disappear, the guards were absolutely furious. Humiliated like that by an outsider... How could they ever show their faces again?
"I’m going to report this to the Patriarch."
"What should we say?"
"I have a plan. Follow me."
After entering the Long Family grounds, Long Ao and Long Heng followed a small path to the left. They stopped at a rather secluded Little Courtyard House. It wasn’t dilapidated, but it wasn’t luxurious either—it was completely ordinary. Yet, Long Ao knew that as a Young Master of the Long Family, and a former genius at that, Long Heng should not be living in a place like this.
’It’s almost identical.’
The more Long Heng’s situation resembled his own, the more Long Ao felt a kinship with him, without a trace of contempt or disdain. Before Long Heng could speak, Long Ao said first, "I like it here."
Long Heng was no fool; of course he understood what Long Ao meant.
"Follow me."
The two entered the courtyard house. Long Heng went into a room and came back out a moment later holding a small bottle. He smiled and said, "Brother Long, this is a Healing Elixir I refined. I’m not sure how effective it will be."
’An Alchemist.’
Long Ao already knew Long Heng was an Alchemist. Being an Alchemist alone wasn’t particularly remarkable. What was truly impressive was that Long Heng was not only a powerful Martial Artist but also an Alchemist not to be underestimated. The combination of the two spoke volumes about his talent.
Long Ao took the Elixir and swallowed it. His expression changed slightly the moment he did.
By now, Long Ao had achieved considerable mastery in the Alchemy Dao. He could tell that while the Level of the Elixir Long Heng refined wasn’t low, its creator had clearly strayed onto a flawed path. With his guidance, Long Ao was confident that Long Heng could go much further in his alchemy.
"Long Heng, are you willing to take me as your master?"
Long Ao’s question left Long Heng utterly baffled.
"Brother Long, are you alright?"
To Long Heng, it seemed as if Long Ao’s injuries had worsened, causing him to speak deliriously. ’After all,’ he thought, ’my strength is far greater than his. If anyone is to take a master, it should be him taking me as his, not the other way around. This is ridiculous.’
Even if his Cultivation hadn’t progressed for three years, he was still a Venerable.
Before Long Heng could reply, Long Ao said something that made Long Heng’s expression change drastically. "Brother Long," he asked, "are you really an Alchemist?"
"I have no reason to lie. The Elixir you gave me isn’t low-level, but I can tell you for a fact that your approach to the Alchemy Dao is fundamentally flawed. If you don’t correct your course soon, you’ll face serious trouble."
To say he wasn’t shocked would be a lie.
"Brother Long, I won’t hide it from you," he began. "My knowledge of the Alchemy Dao comes from an eccentric I met once. He only taught me for three days, so..."
Waving his hand dismissively, Long Ao was eager for Long Heng to become his disciple. It had been a long time since he’d felt this excited, but Long Heng’s talent and potential had truly impressed him.
’Long Heng’s talent, for both Cultivation and Alchemy, is truly exceptional. If I miss this opportunity, I’ll definitely regret it.’
"I’ll give you time to consider. I’m going to recuperate now. Let me know when you’ve made a decision."
Watching the figure enter the room, Long Heng stood there, dumbfounded. He had never, ever imagined that this youth he had saved was also an Alchemist—and one whose skill was clearly above his own.
’Agree?’
’Refuse?’
Long Heng was conflicted. Long Ao was clearly younger than him. Taking a master younger than himself... if word got out, it would be rather...
BANG! At that moment, the main gate was kicked open. Without even needing to look, Long Heng knew who it was. An expression of pure disgust filled his face.
"I heard Little Fourth was back! Let me get a look at you! Your Eighth Brother here missed you to death!"
