War God Long Ao
Chapter 543: Divine Dragon’s Self-Destruction
Chapter 543: Chapter 543: Divine Dragon’s Self-Destruction
The Celestial Dao.
The Ancient Divine Dragon had never imagined the Celestial Dao would arrive so quickly.
His worst fears had come to pass.
The Ancient Divine Dragon dreaded encountering the Celestial Dao now more than ever. He was no match for the Celestial Dao even at his peak, let alone in his current state.
Thus, the Ancient Divine Dragon didn’t dare to hesitate for even a second and immediately summoned Long Fu.
"Long Fu, I will hold back the Celestial Dao. You take Long Ao and leave this place. Remember, no matter what happens, don’t let the Celestial Dao find you, or all our efforts will have been for nothing."
"Master, to face the Celestial Dao in your current state..."
Before Long Fu could finish, the Ancient Divine Dragon cut in, "If I don’t go, neither you nor Long Ao will be able to escape. Now, go!"
Giving Long Fu no more chance to speak, the Ancient Divine Dragon unleashed his strongest attack, forcibly tearing open a spatial rift and shoving the Dragon Seal Space, with Long Ao inside, through it.
If it were his true self, the Ancient Divine Dragon might have been able to send Long Ao to a specific location. But now, in his current state, that was impossible. He could barely manage to open a spatial passage. As for where Long Ao would end up, no one knew—not even the Ancient Divine Dragon himself.
The moment he sent Long Ao away, the Ancient Divine Dragon immediately sealed the passage.
With a cold snort, the Ancient Divine Dragon’s phantom form vanished.
「Above the Nine Heavens, at the pinnacle of the clouds.」
The Ancient Divine Dragon and the Celestial Dao stood face to face. The Celestial Dao spoke with a smile, "Ancient Divine Dragon, you’ve hidden yourself quite well all these years, but you still couldn’t escape my grasp."
Within the Nine Heavens, a giant face filled with confidence materialized among the clouds. This was the Celestial Dao—the true number one expert in all of Heaven and Earth, the supreme powerhouse who had slain both Long Tian and the Ancient Divine Dragon.
Paying the Celestial Dao no mind, the Ancient Divine Dragon said with contempt, "Celestial Dao, if Long Tian and I hadn’t failed our Fusion back then, we never would have lost to you. We were just one step away."
"Hahaha! Ancient Divine Dragon, you said it yourself. No matter how powerful you and Long Tian were, you ultimately failed to fuse. You were one step away, but that one step meant you still lost. Therefore, you will never be able to take that final step."
"Hmph. Though Long Tian and I can no longer take our revenge, I have found a successor. With his talent and potential, I believe he will reach our level in less than a hundred years. When that time comes, once he completes the Fusion, you... will face certain death."
The more confident the Ancient Divine Dragon appeared, the more uncertain the Celestial Dao felt. After all, the one before it was the progenitor of the Dragon Race, one of the most powerful Divine Beasts in all of Heaven and Earth.
’It’s not the certainty that’s worrying, but the slim chance. What if the Ancient Divine Dragon’s successor really does manage to fuse? Wouldn’t I...?’
At this thought, the Celestial Dao’s expression shifted slightly, but it maintained its smile. "Ancient Divine Dragon, do you really think I would give you that chance?"
Before the Ancient Divine Dragon could reply, the Celestial Dao continued, "You must remember, I am the true Sovereign of the Celestial Martial Continent. No one can ever escape my grasp. I killed you and Long Tian back then, and I can just as easily kill your successor. Don’t you believe me?"
The Ancient Divine Dragon gave a contemptuous laugh. "Celestial Dao, don’t delude yourself. Your good days are numbered."
"Hahaha! Ancient Divine Dragon, don’t get ahead of yourself. Whatever my future holds, you won’t be around to see it."
The Celestial Dao was, of course, well aware of the Ancient Divine Dragon’s condition.
Forget the Celestial Dao acting personally—any other Divine Beast could easily obliterate the Ancient Divine Dragon in his current state. Thus, the Celestial Dao was in no hurry, content to play with its prey like a cat with a mouse.
In truth, the giant face that had appeared was not the Celestial Dao’s true form, but merely an avatar. If an avatar alone possessed such terrifying power, one could only imagine how horrifying the Celestial Dao’s true body must be.
"Celestial Dao, it has come to this. Let’s be frank. The grudge between us must be settled sooner or later. Since that’s the case, let’s end this today, once and for all."
"You alone?"
The Celestial Dao’s face was filled with mockery and disdain; it held the Ancient Divine Dragon in utter contempt.
"Ancient Divine Dragon, even at your peak, you and Long Tian together were no match for me. In your current state... I’ll give you a piece of advice: submit to me, and I might consider making you my mount. What do you say?"
"Go fuck yourself! Who the hell do you think you are, wanting me to be your mount? What right do you have? Let me tell you something, from the dawn of time until now, I have had only one partner: Long Tian! You are unworthy! You are not worthy! Do you understand?"
Upon hearing this, the Celestial Dao’s expression instantly turned frigid.
As the true number one powerhouse of the Celestial Martial Continent, it was the Sovereign of every life. No one dared to defy it. Yet, in the Ancient Times, one man and one dragon had appeared for the sole purpose of opposing it.
"I must admit, you and Long Tian were certainly not afraid of death. Perhaps to others, you were heroes, but in my eyes, you’re nothing but two fools."
"Ancient Divine Dragon, enough nonsense. Hand over the Dragon Seal, and I’ll spare your life."
The Dragon Seal.
"Celestial Dao, you will never obtain the Dragon Seal, not in this lifetime or any other."
"So you have no intention of handing it over?"
"What do you think?"
The Celestial Dao gave the Ancient Divine Dragon a long, hard look, then said suddenly, "If you don’t hand over the Dragon Seal, I will slaughter the entire Dragon Race. Not a single one will be left alive. Believe me?"
The Celestial Dao’s words were a simple threat. No matter what, the Ancient Divine Dragon was still the progenitor of the Dragon Race; he couldn’t possibly ignore their survival. Because of this, the Celestial Dao was fully confident. Using the Dragon Race as a bargaining chip, it refused to believe that the Ancient Divine Dragon wouldn’t compromise.
But the Celestial Dao had miscalculated.
The Ancient Divine Dragon, however, seemed unfazed. He smiled and said, "Celestial Dao, if you wish to slaughter the Dragon Race, be my guest. I will tell you just one thing: in one hundred years, you will die without a doubt."
"With the help of the Dragon Seal, my successor’s Fusion will be successful. He will then be powerful enough to slay you! Hahahaha!"
At the Ancient Divine Dragon’s words, the Celestial Dao’s expression turned utterly grim, as ugly as could be. It wasn’t worried about the dragon’s successor, but about the Dragon Seal itself.
The Celestial Dao knew better than anyone what the Dragon Seal represented.
’Once the Ancient Divine Dragon’s successor successfully completes the Fusion with the help of the Dragon Seal, I’ll be in serious trouble.’
The biggest reason the Celestial Dao had hunted down and killed Long Tian and the Ancient Divine Dragon back then was precisely for the Dragon Seal Space. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have gone looking for trouble with them for no reason.
Just as the Celestial Dao was about to threaten the Ancient Divine Dragon again, an astonishing aura suddenly erupted from the dragon’s body. Sensing this aura, the Celestial Dao cried out in alarm.
"Divine Dragon Self-Detonation!"
