Chapter 2826: The Saintess Meets The Elders
The beasts seemed willing to follow Lin Mu's words, so he decided to let them be.
"Mmhmm. Just don't cause any trouble for the people this time," Lin Mu warned. "And don't scare Meng Bai too much either."
"We won't," the four replied in unison.
"Good," Lin Mu nodded in satisfaction.
"Can we go explore now?" Ashy asked eagerly, already hovering in mid-air.
"Yeah, go ahead," Lin Mu said with a wave of his hand.
"Yay!" Ashy zipped off immediately, with the twins following close behind.
"I'll keep them in line," Little Shrubby said dutifully before bounding off as well.
With the beasts gone and silence returning to the courtyard, Lin Mu had one more matter to attend to.
"Saintess," Lin Mu said softly.
SHUA.
A moment later, the figure of a beautiful woman shimmered into view before him, her presence graceful and almost dreamlike.
"I'm guessing you haven't had much trouble here in this world?" Lin Mu asked, noting how at ease she seemed.
"Indeed. While I won't be able to use much of my power here, simply being present isn't an issue," the Saintess replied calmly.
Her gaze drifted toward the Grand Peak in the distance.
"Though, I need to inform our hosts first," she added thoughtfully.
"You will?" Lin Mu was a little surprised. The Saintess didn't usually concern herself with formalities.
"The Green Lotus Temple has deep connections in the Celestial Realm as well. It's best to inform them first," she explained.
"Alright then, Saintess," Lin Mu said, nodding with understanding.
Even the Saintess, it seemed, held the Green Lotus Temple in quiet reverence.
"I shall not disturb you then, Saintess," Lin Mu said respectfully before the Saintess disappeared.
He sat back down to cultivate, his mind returning to utter peace.
At the Grand Peak of the Green Lotus Temple, the Abbot and the Elders were still meditating. Doing so was like second nature to them, and they could go months without ever waking up.
Disturbing them was difficult, as their proficiency was too high. Even if someone were to scream right in their ears, they would not be bothered.
And yet tonight, all the elders and the Abbot woke up.
Their eyes held wariness as they detected a new presence among them.
"Someone is here," an elder spoke.
"Someone not invited," another elder added.
"Someone far above us," the Abbot finished, looking beyond the temple, his gaze seemingly piercing through the roof.
He continued to observe for a minute, during which the presence did not move.
He thought for a moment before speaking.
"Amitabha, to whom does this humble monk speak?" the Abbot asked calmly, but received no response. "I invite the guest over," he permitted.
SHUA.
In the next second, a person materialized within the hall. No doors had been opened, and yet they appeared there, shocking the elders.
And when they laid eyes on the person, they were stunned.
"A woman?" the elders couldn't believe it.
In the Green Lotus Temple, the entry of females was not forbidden, but it was still restricted.
"Pardon me, respected monks," the Saintess spoke with surprising respect.
If Lin Mu were to see it, he would be surprised, as he had not seen her speak like this to anyone other than Xukong himself.
The elders felt a strange and captivating aura from the woman, but despite that, their eyes remained still. No hint of desire could be seen in them, which made the Saintess feel pleased.
'The monks are always better at keeping their composure among men,' she thought to herself.
The Abbot gazed at the Saintess deeply, unable to figure out just who she was or how strong she might be.
'It's as if I'm staring at nothingness,' the Abbot mused, confused and wary.
"I'm here to pay my respects," the Saintess said, much to their surprise. But that was merely the beginning.
"I'm acquainted with the Abbots of the Great Potala Palace and the Mahayana Island, so I reckoned I might at least meet you once. After all, one of my close people will be staying here," she explained.
Hearing this, the eyes of all the old men went wide. Even the Abbot, whose eyes barely opened at the best of times, was now gaping.
"The Great Potala Palace and the Mahayana Island?" the Abbot muttered in shock.
"You know the great Buddhist Lands?" The elders couldn't believe it.
There was no way they didn't know the names of these places. These were the most revered Buddhist powers, vastly superior to their own Green Lotus Temple. While they had minor connections to these great sects, actual interaction was rare—akin to a peasant knowing a king.
And yet, this woman spoke as though she knew them well.
"If you know them, then…" The Abbot finally understood. 'A celestial.'
"H-how… how may we address you, venerated guest?" one of the elders asked carefully.
"You may call me the Saintess," she replied.
"We welcome the Saintess to our humble abode," the Abbot said with utmost respect. 'If she knows the Abbots of the holy lands, then she must have a status at the same level.' The old man finally understood why he couldn't see through her.
She was simply of another realm.
"We welcome the Saintess!" the elders echoed in unison.
"You spoke about one of your people… Who might that be?" the Abbot inquired, curious. 'It must be someone among the companions of Hushu, but who among them?' the old man wondered.
"Lin Mu," the Saintess answered, making them all realize.
"I see. I did not realize such a guest had come to our abode. Pardon us if we've been lacking," the Abbot apologized.
"It's fine," the Saintess replied, much more cordial than usual. "I will be around, but I won't intrude in your lives. I just hope that you can watch out for Lin Mu," she requested.
"Of course!" the Abbot replied instantly. "Lin Mu is an excellent child, and I've already come to take a liking to him," he stated with a warm smile.
