Waking Up To A Broken Engagement, I Instantly Turns Into A Mad Dog
Chapter 54: Yusha’s Advice
Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Yusha’s Advice
Pushing the door open and stepping into the dormitory, Jeremy immediately rolled up his sleeves, instantly getting to work practicing the drawing of a two-star magic matrix. Unfortunately, the complexity of a two-star array for someone currently stuck at tier one like him was exactly like making an ant carry an elephant.
After nearly three hours of grueling mental attrition, with dozens of magic quill pens snapped into pieces and tossed aside, the array still did not manifest even a single glimmer of light.
The magic power in his body was drained dry. A violent throbbing pain transmitted from the bridge of his nose, and a drop of bright red blood dripped down, blurring the parchment surface. Jeremy frowned deeply; the ensuing headache forced him to let his arm drop, releasing the pen in defeat.
Yusha, who had been floating in the consciousness space observing everything all this time, finally could no longer hold back. Originally, he hadn’t wanted to interfere, but this young man’s stubbornness—reaching the point of self-torture—made even him shudder in admiration. After thinking back and forth, Yusha still decided to speak up.
"Hey human, do you know that the star tier of a magic matrix directly corresponds to the ten realms? With your current paltry realm, trying to draw a two-star array is no different from being tired of living and wanting to challenge above your level. If you truly want to succeed, you’d be better off obediently breaking through your bottleneck and raising your realm to tier two first. With your currently drained pit of magic power, don’t even dream of drawing it even after ten thousand years."
"I know." Jeremy raised his hand to wipe the blood under his nose, his tone indifferent. Naturally, he wasn’t foolish enough to ram his head against a stone wall without a purpose.
A one-star magic matrix corresponded to tier one. Ten stars corresponded to tier ten - a rank revered as a God-tier array. Two stars, of course, demanded a tier two realm. He fully understood that drawing an array was an equivalent exchange between spiritual force and magic power.
The reason he abused himself by practicing above his level was not merely to find excuses for being unable to use magic in the dream. The core reason was: when pushing himself to draw a two-star array, he clearly felt the magic elements in his spiritual sea being forcibly and violently agitated. The more exhausted he became, the faster his magic power autonomously circulated, and the denser his spiritual force condensed. This was an effective overclocking method.
The only drawback was that every time he reached the final magic channeling step, it snapped. Just like Yusha said, his current container was too small; no matter how he poured water in, it would overflow.
Yusha sighed helplessly in delusion: "You know, yet you are still so stubborn? Letting your spiritual force constantly hit rock bottom will erode your mind."
"I’m stopping now." Jeremy sluggishly cleaned up the pile of scrap paper on the desk, knowing full well his physical limit had been reached; pushing further would only result in bursting a brain vessel.
Yusha: "Human..."
Jeremy frowned and interrupted: "Just call me by my name."
Calling him "human" this and "human" that all day long made him sound like some ancient goblin. Not to mention, this guy used to be a flesh-and-blood person himself.
"Oh, alright." Yusha cleared his throat. Originally, calling him that was only to delude himself that he was no longer human, but after living together for a while, constantly addressing him like that truly felt a bit distant: "Then I’ll call you Jeremy?"
"Whatever." Jeremy cracked his neck joints, his bones popping: "What were you going to say earlier?"
Yusha hovered in a circle: "I just wanted to ask why you are practicing those two useless Dream-Entering and Spirit-Diving magics as if your life depends on it?"
Jeremy answered frankly, too lazy to hide it: "It’s not that I like to, but right now I’m completely clueless and only know these exact two types. I’ve tried dissecting a few other arrays, but their operational formulas and spiritual energy vein patterns are completely out of sync with these. Without someone guiding me step by step, am I supposed to self-study on faith?"
"So that’s how it is..." Yusha pretended to stroke his chin in contemplation, his light flickering, "How about this. Anyway, you guys still have free time before the next match. Meeting each other can be considered fate; before I transcend and leave, this young master will personally instruct you on a few array moves, what do you say?"
Jeremy raised an eyebrow, lazily leaning back against the sofa, the corners of his lips curling into a mocking smile: "Before you died, you were just a sophomore. Where do you get the confidence to demand to be my teacher?"
"Hmph! What’s wrong with being a sophomore?" Having a nerve struck, Yusha jumped up, his volume skyrocketing. "Don’t look down on me just because this young master died tragically! Regardless, I am the prestigious legitimate grandson of the Prometheus family. A few meager arrays are as easy as pie to me, I can draw them with my eyes closed! In short, just give me one word: do you believe me or not?"
Looking at the glowing orb puffing its cheeks and glaring, Jeremy recalled the massive, complex arrays delicately carved on the cliff walls in the deserted island cave. He withdrew his teasing expression and nodded: "Alright, I believe you."
"That’s a good boy." Yusha smugly wagged his tail. "Although in theory it’s impossible to draw an array above your level, with my guidance, trampling on those garbage theories is a small matter."
The expanding confidence in the other’s every word made Jeremy chuckle, and he cooperatively played along: "Then, ’Teacher’ Yusha, where should I begin now?"
The word "Teacher" coming from the mouth of this arrogant young man made Yusha ecstatic, almost bursting into laughter. He cleared his throat, trying to put on a dignified front: "To successfully draw a two-star magic matrix above your level, the first thing you must do is purify your body and expel all impurities."
Purify the body?
Jeremy frowned and asked directly: "What problem does doing that solve?"
Yusha explained seriously: "A mage’s magic capacity limit doesn’t merely depend on the depth of their spiritual sea, but rather the robustness of their physical body — which acts as the secondary container — is the crucial key. Your spiritual force is vastly stronger than those brats your age, but this physical shell is far too dilapidated! The toxins and impurities caked in your meridians are piled as high as a mountain."
Yusha’s voice hardened: "With a body clogged like a sewer pipe, you expect to absorb magic elements? Not only can you not store them, but it also acts as a stumbling block making your leveling speed as slow as a crawling snail."
"Is that so..." Jeremy fell into deep thought, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest.
This body was inherently frail; only after surviving days of hellish training did it reluctantly gain some muscle. As for the toxins...
In his memories, from the age of eleven, the original owner was obsessed with poison arts, madly using his own body as an experimental subject. Although the dosage wasn’t lethal, accumulating year after year, it clung tightly deep into his bone marrow and meridians.
Ordinary healing potions only treated the symptoms and couldn’t dissolve these toxic dregs. Because it didn’t affect daily life, since crossing over, he had also inadvertently overlooked this fatal flaw.
No wonder... for so many days he had been hard stuck at the magic bottleneck, unable to break through! The crux lay exactly here.
Although Griffin had crammed extreme physical training down their throats, that was merely external muscle tempering, completely untouched upon the root of inner marrow purification.
Jeremy had a sudden realization, his eyes flashing sharply.
But a problem arose immediately: to completely wash away these deeply ingrained toxins, he absolutely had to use high-tier purification potions. Yet in his spatial ring, there were countless antidotes, but not a single drop of purification potion.
With his current potion-brewing level, personally concocting a high-tier potion was no different from daydreaming. Go to the commercial street to buy one? Its price was exorbitant to the point that with his meager accumulated points, buying half a bottle wouldn’t even be enough.
Low-tier purification potions had effects no different from plain water; drinking them was just a waste of money.
Jeremy analyzed the pros and cons, and finally made a desperate decision: to personally brew a body-tempering medicinal bath. Although the absorption efficiency through the skin couldn’t compare to drinking a refined potion directly, the plus side was that the brewing success rate was within his control. If one time wasn’t strong enough, he would soak ten times.
