Waking Up To A Broken Engagement, I Instantly Turns Into A Mad Dog
Chapter 33: Endless Extermination
Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Endless Extermination
Amber stood rooted to the arena ring, his face as pale as paper, his eyes wide in disbelief as he witnessed with his own eyes his pride and joy, the ten thousand magic swords, being torn apart and devoured by the demon horde in an incredibly brutal manner. A shock of ultimate astonishment suddenly surged in the depths of his heart.
Although he had heard rumors that Jeremy had defeated Raphael - the genius possessing Holy Covenant number 9, Amber knew full well that those two had a friendship since childhood. In his eyes, that victory was nothing more than a cheap concession. In the second round, Jeremy’s opponents were entirely those bearing low-tier Spirit Covenants; winning was at most just a stroke of blind luck.
However, right at this moment...
Amber narrowed his bloodshot eyes, a cold murderous intent darting through the depths of his eyes: "... It seems you are not too useless after all."
He let out a roar, his magic power exploding fiercely, decisively swinging his sword to smash the phantom horde tightly clinging to his heels. In just a blink of an eye, Amber’s figure transformed into an afterimage, darting forward to close in right in front of Jeremy.
The longsword blade, carrying an overwhelming pressure, slashed straight down at the top of his head. Without the slightest panic, Jeremy slightly narrowed his golden eyes; the death scythe in his hands instantly pivoted.
Instead of blocking the attack head-on, his entire body leaned backward with the unbelievable flexibility of a wild beast, his spine almost perfectly parallel to the ground, sharply evading the deathly blade by a hair’s breadth.
The exact moment the sword tip grazed past the tip of his nose, Jeremy’s ankles suddenly exploded with accumulated force. Borrowing the momentum to twist and fold his slender waist, the giant scythe traced a semi-circular arc striking upward from below, slashing a vicious blow aimed straight at Amber’s sword-wielding wrist.
A chill running down his spine, Amber was forced to grit his teeth and retreat hastily backward. The tip of his sword instantly condensed a blinding stream of magic power, clashing harshly with the scythe to borrow the rebounding force, struggling to widen the safe distance.
As soon as the toes of his shoes touched the ground, the muscle fibers on his thighs tensed hard; his knees dropped low, pressing down like a bowstring drawn to its absolute limit. Pausing for less than half a second, Amber borrowed the elastic force, continuing to tear through the wind and dart forward to bite back.
On the dust-filled arena ring, two masculine figures frantically clashed into each other with ghostly speed. The sound of clashing metal roared, tearing at the eardrums. They separated and then crashed into each other again, so fast that normal human vision could only catch the intersecting, blurry afterimage trajectories.
The gloomy atmosphere, originally swallowed by the fog of the Domain of Death, was now brilliantly lit by countless shattering magic sparks. Every time the scythe and the longsword collided, it exploded exactly like a deadly yet magnificent fireworks display.
The longsword tip coldly thrust straight for his throat again. Jeremy slipped his body, spinning a half-circle on the spot; the toe of his shoe stomped hard into the void, creating a muffled explosion. He swung his long, straight leg, unleashing a thunderous kick landing squarely on Amber’s shoulder.
The kick, carrying a thousand-pound force, forced Amber to stagger backward a few steps. Jeremy’s sharp eye corner quickly swept over the battlefield situation. His ten thousand swords matrix was still frantically engaged in a tug-of-war with the immortal phantom horde, forming a perfect restraining stalemate without a clear winner.
But the reality was incredibly cruel; Amber’s magic power realm inherently overpowered his. Even though this Crown Prince usually acted impulsive and brainless, the combat aptitude and close-quarters skills cultivated by the royal family were absolutely not just for display. A prolonged tug-of-war draining physical stamina would definitely push Jeremy to death’s door.
More concerningly, the most explosive innate skill of the Holy Covenant Amber possessed - [Blood Wrath] - had yet to be unleashed by him. Its ability to forcefully overclock all physical stats in a short time was a fatal threat. Once he flipped this trump card, the scale of death would undoubtedly tilt entirely in the opponent’s favor.
Jeremy slightly tightened his grip on the scythe handle, a streak of silence darting through the depths of his eyes. If today’s opponent were anyone else, he inherently wouldn’t have the spare time to risk his life fighting for vain glory. Just winning the first match to dodge that lunatic instructor Griffin’s penalty was enough to achieve his goal.
But awkwardly, the one blocking his path was exactly this arrogant ex-fiancé. The concept of surrendering in front of Amber never existed in his dictionary. Losing at his hands, to Jeremy, was no different from having his head shoved into the mud in humiliation.
Amidst the atmosphere tense as a bowstring, Amber leaned on his sword, his chest heaving, suddenly smirking and growling: "Jeremy, do you know why from the past until now, I have always detested and been disgusted by you so much?"
Jeremy’s cold gaze stopped on his face, which was twisted with indignation. Amber’s sharp pupils right now surged with a bitter rejection, perfectly matching the darkest memory fragments of the original owner.
Amber gritted his teeth, every word drilling into the cruel truth: "Because you are just a jinx trash who curses his relatives to death! The reason you can sit firmly on the seat of the Valmont Duke’s only son is because your talented older brother went missing on the way to rescue you! Your father in a coma, your mother sickly, and both of them once blamed your older brother’s disappearance on you! A person bearing the title of a jinx like you, what right do you have to hold your head high before me?!"
Hearing those insulting words, the original owner’s memories rushed back coldly. Jeremy sneered inwardly. He smirked, casually interrupting his words:
"A stinking bug like you, where do you get so many meaningless words?"
Jeremy used his long, slender fingers to lightly tap his temple, his gaze looking at him like looking at a pile of trash: "If you hate me, go hang yourself. A person who only knows how to bark wildly like a stray dog yet likes to find a bit of a sense of existence to show off his delusional superiority? Did you drop your brain, or did it develop deformed since childhood?"
What consequences hurling insults at the Crown Prince in public would bring, Jeremy completely didn’t give a damn. At St. Aetherwing Academy, the immutable rule was strength crushing status. Every student stepping onto the arena ring was equal.
As for the debt after graduation... cross that bridge when he comes to it. Furthermore, he bore the direct inheriting bloodline of the Valmont Duke family, the most authoritative on the continent. The empire’s royal family absolutely could not dare to publicly condemn him simply because he slipped his tongue and cursed Amber a few sentences.
Being cursed straight to his face, Amber immediately fell silent. However, his entire face twisted and deformed due to skyrocketing fury, making his features, usually praised as royally refined, look as vicious and ruthless as a demon right now.
"Blood Wrath!"
The innate skill name hissed through his teeth, intertwined with a bloodthirsty growl. Just hearing that frantic tone was enough to understand how intense Amber’s will to chop his opponent to pieces was right now.
A thick, blood-red pillar of light exploded, swallowing his figure whole. The original magic pressure at the six-star threshold, under the brutal overclocking of the skill, shattered the barrier, forcefully surging straight to the seven-star level...
Feeling the overwhelming, oppressive aura surging, Jeremy gripped the scythe handle so tightly his knuckles turned white; his golden eyes condensed murderous intent, wholeheartedly preparing to welcome the death blow.
Under the overwhelming power, his Domain of Death and ten thousand swords matrix system simultaneously cracked open and shattered into tattered specks of light. The corner of Amber’s mouth curled into an arrogant, ruthless smile. The longsword in his hand flickered with sharp cold light; with just one swing, the entire blazing arena was instantly sealed by a thick layer of ice and snow.
The freezing snowflakes fell onto the back of Jeremy’s hand, immediately condensing into a layer of frost that bit into flesh and skin, frantically eroding into the veins exactly like a highly toxic poison.
Jeremy frowned, directly exploding his magic power to forcibly shatter the sticky ice layer; blue veins bulged on the back of his hand. He immediately swung his arm to cast a defensive barrier, completely isolating the bizarre blizzard howling outside.
Seeing the prey struggle, Amber did not hesitate for half a second. Under the furious enhancement of Blood Wrath, he poured all his murderous intent into unleashing the ultimate finishing blow:
"Endless Extermination!"
The throat-tearing roar echoed. The arena space was suddenly turned upside down. Frantic winds howled; the ice and snow were swept up into a giant storm pillar, crushing the silent atmosphere into an unprecedentedly terrifying slaughtering dead end.
The void cracked open. A giant sword condensed entirely from thousands of ice thorns and compressed frost tore through space, carrying a destructive pressure charging straight toward Jeremy with an unstoppable posture.
Jeremy’s pupils contracted sharply. The muscles of his entire body tensed hard. He immediately crossed his two fingers, frantically summoning two magic clone shadows, joining forces together to brace against the giant sword.
But the ice thorns from the void kept pouring down like a rain of arrows, ruthlessly piercing through the fragile defensive shield, embedding straight toward him. No matter how sharp Jeremy’s reflex speed was, when having to maneuver amidst tens of thousands of sword trajectories, his body still could not avoid being sliced and torn. Fresh blood seeped out, dyeing the uniform with countless bleeding wounds.
The turbulent air currents of the storm shrieked, sharp as invisible saw blades slicing across his arms and cheeks, tearing flesh, leaving thorny trails of blood bursting out. Under the dual destructive firepower of the blizzard and the giant sword, the two magic clones couldn’t hold out for more than three seconds, instantly exploding into faint mist.
Jeremy’s true body took the full brunt of the massive shockwave. He was hurled backward, his spine slamming heavily into the marble pillar surrounding the arena. A dull bone-cracking sound echoed. His throat swelled with a sweet metallic taste; thick red blood seeped from the corner of his lips.
He braced his hands, struggling to stand up, gritting his teeth to swallow the mouthful of blood back into his stomach. But before he could steady his breathing, a barrage of giant ice thorns plunged from the sky down to the ground, erecting freezing prison walls, absolutely blocking all escape routes.
"Ha ha ha ha..." Amber reached out a hand to cover half his face, tilting his head back to laugh maniacally. Beneath his eyes was an extreme twisted delight, mingled with a look of ultimate disdain: "With just a filthy piece of trash like you, and you delude yourself into thinking you can stand against me?"
He took arrogant long strides forward, raising the longsword high with both hands, slashing a fatal blow straight toward Jeremy. He immediately lifted the scythe preparing to parry the blow, but right at that moment, the wrist holding his weapon was suddenly frozen by bizarre frost. Every joint went numb and stiff; his movement speed was disastrously hindered, sluggish like a rusted machine.
Off-rhythm in his reflexes, he was completely unable to dodge. The sword tip carrying freezing cold aura slashed hard across his chest and abdomen. The fabric of his shirt tore open. A deep, ruthless gash was exposed; fresh blood gushed out, dyeing the patch of ice rink red.
Not stopping there, the cold aura from the sword blade like venomous snakes frantically clung to the wound. In just a blink of an eye, the frost layer spread throughout his limbs, freezing and completely imprisoning the youth’s body into a cold block of ice.
Seizing the moment the prey was completely paralyzed, Amber didn’t spare half a second of mercy. He smirked, his bulging biceps swinging the blood-drenched sword high again, decisively plunging the razor-sharp sword tip straight into Jeremy’s chest.
Warm fresh blood seeped from the ice crevices, dripping pit-a-pat onto the pure white snow. The smile on Amber’s lips became increasingly brutal. He looked down exactly like a sovereign judging a pathetic vassal: "Your ridiculous play of resistance, from beginning to end to me... is also just a cheap pastime."
"Time to end it!" The hand holding the sword violently pressed deep. Bones shattered. The blood-drenched hole on his left chest was torn open, expanding wider and wider, pressing close to the source of life.
The dazzling red hair was now matted with pools of thick blood, plastered to his pale masculine cheeks. The golden phoenix eyes drooped, covered in a bleak layer of fog; his breathing was faint, as if he had given up, completely abandoning all thoughts of resistance.
Outside the arena ring, the excited cheers of the student crowd in the grandstand had already begun to explode.
"I knew that trash Jeremy would definitely be crushed by the Crown Prince! Relying only on his garbage Spirit Covenant, dragging through the first two rounds is already a blessing of several lifetimes!"
"That’s right, ha ha, seeing that dying look is so damn satisfying!"
"But damn, bleeding that much, he might actually lose his life; is the referee blind or something that he still refuses to announce the end?"
