Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Crisis

Facing the sudden sneak attack, the staff in Jeremy’s hand instantly transformed into a scythe, slashing through the entire barrage of feathers.

He looked up at the black-cloaked, iron-masked figures who had silently closed in at some unknown point.

Three Beastkin, two Demons.

Judging by the aura they exuded—there was no need to doubt, heretical cultists.

One of them fixed a cold glare on their group: "My eyes didn’t deceive me. The image Los transmitted with his soul before he died was precisely you lot."

"I originally intended to wait until this batch was finished to come collect those little lives. But since you’ve proactively offered your heads, I’ll send you down to hell earlier!"

The scimitar in his hand brimmed with killing intent. As soon as the words fell, he closed in on Jeremy.

The sound of tearing wind shrieked. Jeremy rotated his wrist, sweeping the scythe horizontally.

Sparks flew in all directions. The black-cloaked figure sneered, the scimitar pressing straight down, locking the scythe’s handle tight.

The face beneath the mask was filled with murderous intent. At the same time, pitch-black thorny vines abruptly burst from the ground.

An instant-cast skill...

Aside from the Human race, other races, including the Demon race, also bore Covenant Marks. But the majority received grace from the 305 righteous faction gods. A small portion, along with the Demon race, were blessed by Fallen Gods.

The person in front of him clearly belonged to the latter group.

Recognizing the danger, Jeremy delivered a kick to the man’s stomach, but it was dodged.

He borrowed the momentum to retreat, swinging the scythe to crush the approaching vines.

The Demon furrowed his brows slightly. Could a guy who had just touched the Intermediate Stage threshold block his attack so easily?

His realm was two stars higher than the other’s.

The Demon race was inherently belligerent, competitive, and bloodthirsty. Being pushed back by a weaker opponent was a humiliation hard to swallow.

The Corpse Vine Demon held back no longer. The killing intent surging in his chest reached its peak.

Mist billowed out around his body. In the blink of an eye, his figure vanished from sight. Even his aura dissipated cleanly.

A stealth skill...

Jeremy immediately summoned four clones to surround his teammates as a precaution.

His gaze swept all around, but couldn’t catch a single trace.

What was that guy planning?

In this silent contest, Jeremy’s nerves gradually tautened.

Simultaneously, the remaining black-cloaked figures also lunged into confrontation with the other four.

The Black Crow Beastkin sparring with Leon sized the group up, his voice full of contempt:

"Those idiots actually died at the hands of trash like you? Truly laughable."

"Tsk, couldn’t survive in the Human realm anymore, huh? So you disguised yourselves as Beastkin to infiltrate the Myriad Beasts Domain. Truly a laughable, obscure existence like ants~"

Leon didn’t bother showing any respect: "Is a wild chicken having a seizure? For your race to birth a mutation like you, you must not have paid off your karma from your past life."

His mouth didn’t stop mocking, and his hands didn’t rest either.

The pair of Crescent Blades switched to melee form, lunging straight for the Black Crow’s blood vessels.

This guy’s weapon was exactly identical to Los’s before—a bone fan.

Upon clashing with the Crescent Blades, it abruptly unfurled a bizarre, bright red blood mist.

Evelyn, who was battling a Demon beside him, caught that detail and instantly lashed out with a vine, yanking Leon hard behind her back.

She warned briefly: "That mist is corrosive. Don’t breathe it in."

"Got it." Leon raised his hand, summoning the Crescent Blades back. Taking advantage of the Black Crow preparing to strike, he swung his arms, throwing the pair of rings out forcefully.

The third skill—Lunar Blade Cyclone Strike—activated instantly, auto-locking onto the target. The pair of rings hovered in the air from the left and right directions, their terrifying speed forcing the Black Crow to continuously retreat.

The corner of Jeremy’s eye captured the entire battlefield situation.

Among these cultists, three were at Intermediate Stage Two-Star, two at Intermediate Stage Three-Star.

Their overall strength was slightly higher than their side. But the current five-on-five situation hadn’t decisively tilted towards either side yet, maintaining a fragile balance.

If they supplemented it with supportive magic tools, they might win.

The thought had just kindled when the Corpse Vine Demon, who had previously vanished, abruptly appeared in mid-air, his scimitar tearing through the wind straight towards the top of his head.

Jeremy hastily raised his scythe to block, contorting his body to slide-dodge to the side.

But the poisoned corpse vines around had finished condensing, lunging forward like tens of thousands of writhing living tentacles.

Sharp thorns plunged straight into his shoulder blade. The toxin gnawed into his flesh, the pain spreading throughout his body.

The corrosive demonic aura burned his skin. Even the blood flowing out was dyed a dark red hue.

Jeremy furrowed his brows slightly, condensing magic power to crush the vines. The scythe spun, drawing crescent-shaped blades, continuously severing the thorns around his body.

Disappearing for less than two minutes yet managing to condense such a massive attack range—he had underestimated the enemy.

Seeing the clones taken down, the vines began to change direction, harassing his teammates. Jeremy didn’t hesitate, pulling out an explosive magic tool, preparing to forcibly finish off the Corpse Vine Demon.

But just as he picked up the magic tool, he suddenly caught a few auras far more dangerous.

The other party made absolutely no effort to conceal them. The realm was... tier four.

Jeremy’s heart sank.

The number was five or more. In this unapproached state, he couldn’t distinguish if they were cultists allied with this group, or other races coming to search for treasure.

If it were the former... they were done for.

Phoenix also sensed the anomaly. He looked at Jeremy, his eyes asking succinctly: stay or go?

His third skill was Spatial Translocation. Although currently restricted by his realm so the teleportation distance wasn’t far, it was enough for the whole group to escape this perimeter.

The only catch was that skill carried a drawback.

If Phoenix used it on himself, it activated instantly, requiring no channeling time. But if he dragged multiple people along, it consumed a massive amount of magic power and required buffering time.

Those tier four individuals hadn’t arrived yet. There was still a window to gamble.

Jeremy naturally chose to retreat. He threw the explosive magic tool towards the Corpse Vine Demon, while simultaneously using voice transmission to urge Phoenix to set up the matrix.

Phoenix understood, immediately deploying it.

He had always been reliable; Jeremy didn’t need to add a single word of instruction.

Glancing at the Corpse Vine Demon pinned down by the rain of needles from the magic tool, he summoned another clone to land a follow-up strike, then vaulted into the air, trying to determine the exact coordinates of the approaching tier-four group.

The scythe transformed into a staff. Under the element compatibility enhancement effect, Jeremy guided his spiritual power into the vegetation layer ahead.

His spiritual power instantly blanketed a one-mile radius. The consumption was certainly terrifying, but right now there was nothing to regret.

Two minutes later... he pinpointed the other party’s position in the northwest direction.

Exactly as expected, the number far exceeded five. A total of seven.

Also wearing masks like that black-cloaked group. But they weren’t Demons, nor were they Beastkin.

Rather... Humans.

The patterns on their magic cloaks seemed to symbolize... the Magic Tower.
