Chapter 463 - 452-

  • Next Chapter

The pale corpse, which had already charged ahead of Grey, was only a few thousand meters away from the towering Heavenly Vine. However, between her and the enormous vine stood several dozen mutated creatures. Their eyes were bloodshot, and they let out furious growls as they charged toward her without the slightest hesitation.

In an instant, many of them were already upon her, pouncing from all directions.

Grey, who was several meters behind, could not clearly see what happened next. However, he could hear the sound of coarse, excited laughter mixed with loud, resounding impacts that repeatedly echoed through the air.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The sounds were powerful enough to cause the surrounding air to tremble.

These mutated creatures that attacked Grey and Violet were all under the control of the Heavenly Vine. From his previous encounters with them, Grey could already tell that they were not truly alive.

In fact, it would not be wrong to call them zombies.

They existed in a strange state between life and death, their bodies continuing to move despite having long since lost the characteristics of true life.

Grey’s attacks had little effect on them. Even when their bodies were torn apart and their bones were exposed, they continued charging forward as though they felt no pain whatsoever. As long as their bodies could still move, they would continue attacking.

After the flames erupted across the area, many of the beasts had been reduced to mangled and dissected corpses. Most were missing one or more limbs, leaving them barely capable of walking. The majority had already perished from the terrifying heat alone, their bodies completely burned until all that remained was charred ash.

Yet, the ones that continued advancing completely disregarded their injuries.

Some dragged their broken bodies across the ground.

Others crawled forward with their remaining limbs.

A few had even lost half of their bodies, yet they continued to charge toward Grey without the slightest hesitation.

"This..."

Grey’s purple eyes flashed with a strange glint.

However, his expression did not change in the slightest.

His face remained cold and indifferent, as though nothing in the world could truly surprise him. Even if the heavens collapsed before him, Grey doubted his expression would change much.

With his slightly purple hair fluttering gently in the turbulent air, Grey raised his hand.

A powerful fluctuation suddenly emerged from his Sea of Consciousness.

"Come out."

A muffled roar resounded within his mind.

Immediately afterward, a surge of dense spirit essence burst out from his Sea of Consciousness. The spirit essence rapidly gathered before him, twisting and condensing until it gradually formed the enormous body of the Mosasaur.

Its massive body floated in the air, surrounded by dense spiritual energy.

Its eyes were bright, and unlike the mindless mutated creatures around them, there was an unmistakable trace of intelligence within them.

The moment it was fully summoned, the Mosasaur let out a thunderous cry.

Roar!

Without waiting for Grey to give another command, it immediately rushed toward the incoming wave of mutated beasts.

Its enormous body moved with astonishing speed.

In practically an instant, it appeared before the approaching creatures and opened its massive mouth.

A terrifying current of air erupted from within.

The force was so powerful that the surrounding space seemed to distort slightly. Several mutated sea creatures caught within the current were instantly torn apart, their bodies reduced to shreds before they could even approach the Mosasaur.

The Mosasaur let out another deafening cry.

Its massive jaws opened once again before snapping shut around a flying mutated creature.

Crunch!

The creature disappeared into its mouth. It was a fairly large bird with unusually long wings. However, a huge hole had been torn through its chest, and thick black blood continuously flowed from the wound.

Grey immediately recognized the creature.

It was a very common species within the Corroded Zone.

These birds were particularly troublesome to cultivators who traveled through the skies. They seemed to possess an intense hatred toward anything that flew and would immediately attack anyone they encountered in the air.

They were extremely persistent.

Even if other people or mutated creatures were fighting on the ground below them, they would completely ignore them and focus solely on hunting flying targets.

After God’s Descent, countless creatures had undergone terrifying changes. Countless lifeforms had been wiped out entirely, while others had adapted to the new environment and survived.

And as some races disappeared, entirely new races were born.

The Corroded Zone was one of the clearest examples of this phenomenon.

If it were under normal circumstances, this mutated bird would never have dared to attack the Mosasaur.

The Mosasaur was several times larger than it, and the difference in strength between the two was obvious.

However, the bird was no longer acting according to its instincts. It was under the control of the Heavenly Vine. Because of that, it could not feel fear.

Even though the enormous Mosasaur was clearly a much more powerful existence, the mutated bird still charged forward ferociously.

The Mosasaur seemed to find this behavior insulting.

It let out a cold huff.

A stream of freezing air immediately erupted from its mouth, spreading across the surrounding sky. The nearby flying creatures were instantly caught within the terrifying current.

Before they could even react, they were swallowed one after another.

In the blink of an eye, the sky around the Mosasaur was completely cleared of flying mutated creatures.

After devouring them, the Mosasaur’s eyes flashed with an unmistakable look of disgust.

Clearly, the taste of those creatures was far from pleasant. Unfortunately, it did not dare to show its disgust too openly in front of Grey.

It immediately suppressed its expression and continued forward, slaughtering every mutated creature that stood in its path.

"Little Grey, what are you waiting for?"

The Captain’s voice suddenly rang out from somewhere within the swarm of mutated creatures in the distance.

"The treasure is over here! If you don’t get here soon, I’ll make sure I gobble everything up and leave nothing for you!"

Her voice was filled with amusement, and there was not the slightest trace of fear in it.

Grey narrowed his eyes slightly. He had already guessed why. The Captain’s current body was not her real body.

Otherwise, considering the terrifying number of mutated creatures surrounding her, it would be impossible for her to remain so relaxed.

Grey did not respond immediately. Instead, his gaze shifted toward the towering Heavenly Vine.

Only then did he notice something unusual. A transparent-looking sword was stabbed into the side of the enormous vine.

Because of the distance, Grey could barely make out its appearance. However, he could still sense an extremely sharp aura radiating from it.

His eyes narrowed. A thought immediately flashed through his mind.

That sword was probably the token the Captain had been talking about. As for the other treasure she had mentioned...

Grey’s gaze slowly shifted toward the Heavenly Vine itself.

It was obvious.

The Heavenly Vine was the treasure she was interested in.

Even from this distance, Grey could tell that the transparent sword was extraordinary.

It radiated an incredibly cold and sharp intent, almost as though an unparalleled sword had just been unsheathed.

The sword intent was so sharp that Grey’s scalp tingled slightly.

And this was despite the fact that he was currently wearing the Soul Devouring Everlasting Bird.

"This sword..."

A strange light flashed within Grey’s purple eyes.

"I must get it."

His voice was calm, but there was an unmistakable determination within it.

The moment those words fell, Grey took a step forward.

Space seemed to ripple around his body.

In the next instant, his figure disappeared.

When he reappeared, he had already crossed several hundred meters.

He was now directly in the midst of the countless mutated creatures and bizarre existences surrounding the Heavenly Vine.

The moment Grey appeared, the surrounding creatures immediately went into a frenzy.

Roars and shrieks erupted from every direction as they rushed toward him.

Some opened their enormous mouths and attempted to bite him.

Others swung their claws.

Several creatures even attacked from above, attempting to tear Grey apart from multiple directions simultaneously.

Grey merely glanced at them. A cold snort escaped his mouth. He raised one hand and casually waved it.

Boom!

A vast sea of bright red flames suddenly erupted from his body.

The flames surged outward in every direction like an enormous wave, instantly engulfing the surrounding mutated creatures.

Their bodies were swallowed by the terrifying inferno.

Some were reduced to ashes in an instant.

Others struggled for a few moments before their bodies collapsed and were completely consumed by the flames.

Grey did not stop.

With another step, he crossed an enormous distance. His figure blurred before disappearing from the middle of the flames. When he appeared again, he was already close to the purple phantom.

As soon as he appeared, a loud wailing sound suddenly reached his ears. It was followed by a series of muffled complaints.

Grey glanced over.

The Life Demon was currently swinging its enormous scythe, effortlessly slaughtering a large number of mutated creatures.

Every swing of the scythe caused terrifying energy to spread through the surrounding area, and countless creatures were sliced apart before they could even approach.

However, the strange talking Grey had heard earlier had not come from the Life Demon.

It had come from the scythe in its hand.

The sentient spirit within the scythe was apparently complaining bitterly about the way it was being used.

"Too rough! Too rough! How can you treat me like this?!"

The scythe’s spirit was clearly on the verge of cursing. But the moment it noticed Grey standing nearby, its tone abruptly changed.

"Master! Master!"

The voice immediately became pitiful.

"Please save me! This guy is using me too roughly..."

Its voice abruptly stopped.

Grey’s expression remained completely indifferent. He merely glanced at the scythe for a moment before retracting his gaze. Then, without saying anything, he took another step forward.
