Virat: Abandoned by Destiny
Chapter 76: The Daughter Beneath the Silver Leaves
Narrator
Beyond the forest where life had been forgotten...
there was a place where even the wind seemed afraid to breathe.
And beyond that darkness...
a small village rested between the mountains.
And beyond that village...
the world began to bloom again.
The Death Forest remained silent beneath the afternoon sky.
Its trees were tall...
but lifeless.
Their twisted branches reached toward one another like skeletal hands.
The earth beneath them was dark.
The air carried the scent of decay.
Even the sunlight seemed reluctant to enter.
Yet...
far beyond that cursed wilderness...
the mountains changed.
The darkness slowly disappeared.
The soil became softer.
The air became cleaner.
And between the mountains...
a river continued its endless journey.
It came from somewhere far beyond the visible horizon.
Its water passed through ancient lands...
before eventually reaching the mountains surrounding Restart Village.
There...
the world changed.
Restart Village rested peacefully among the mountains.
Green fields stretched beneath the open sky.
Wooden houses stood beside the river.
Children ran along the paths.
Farmers returned from their fields.
The ancient banyan tree stood at the heart of the village...
its branches spreading like protective arms over the people below.
The river flowed beside it.
Clear.
Cold.
Alive.
The villagers had lived beside that river for generations.
They knew its waters were unusual.
They knew that even after travelling through dangerous lands...
the river remained strangely pure.
But very few understood where its journey truly began.
Beyond the mountains...
beyond the forests...
beyond the boundaries known to ordinary humans...
lay another world.
A world hidden behind ancient magic.
The Forest of Life.
The deeper the river travelled toward its source...
the greener the world became.
The trees grew larger.
The flowers became brighter.
Mana filled the air.
A small butterfly landed upon a leaf.
The leaf slowly opened beneath its tiny feet.
Birds moved between branches covered in silver flowers.
The forest did not merely exist.
It breathed.
Every root beneath the soil carried life.
Every stream carried magic.
Every breeze whispered through leaves that had existed longer than most human kingdoms.
And at the heart of this enormous forest...
stood the greatest tree of them all.
The Heart Tree.
Its trunk was enormous.
Its roots disappeared beneath the earth.
Its branches stretched so high that they seemed to touch the heavens.
But the Heart Tree was more than an ancient tree.

It was a gateway.
A doorway created by elven magic...
leading to a hidden space beyond ordinary reality.
And within that space...
stood an entire kingdom.
The Elf Kingdom.
The moment one crossed the boundary...
the world became almost dreamlike.
Buildings had grown around living trees.
Silver bridges connected enormous branches.
Crystal pathways floated above streams.
Waterfalls descended from high cliffs...
their mist sparkling beneath the sunlight.
Flowers illuminated the roads even during the day.
Some trees carried small houses within their trunks.
Others had become watchtowers.
Elven children ran through gardens while practicing tiny spells.
One child accidentally made a flower grow twice its size.
Another tried to create a small flame...
only to turn it into smoke.
Their teacher sighed.
The children laughed.
Life here was peaceful.
But beneath that peace...
was strength.
The elves were not simply guardians of nature.
They were masters of natural magic.
They could communicate with plants.
Guide water.
Strengthen trees.
Heal wounds.
Manipulate wind.
And shape mana through the living world itself.
Their magic was different from the magic of humans.
Humans often commanded magic.
Elves...
cooperated with it.
That difference had shaped their civilization.
At the highest point of the kingdom...
stood the Silverleaf residence.
It was not a castle built upon stone.
It had grown alongside the Heart Tree.
Its walls were white like moonlight.
Silver leaves covered its towers.
Vines moved gently along its balconies.
Water flowed beneath the palace through narrow crystal channels.
And overlooking all of it...
stood a sixteen-year-old elf girl.
Eliana Silverleaf.
She rested her hands against the balcony.
Her eyes moved across the kingdom.
She noticed the children.
The guards.
The scholars.
The farmers.
The healers.
Nothing escaped her attention.
Eliana possessed the beauty naturally associated with the elves...
but there was something else behind her eyes.
Awareness.
She listened more than she spoke.
She watched before judging.
And whenever someone brought her a problem...
she rarely asked,
"Who is responsible?"
Instead...
she asked,
"Why did this happen?"
That difference had already begun to separate her from ordinary nobles.
One day...
she would need to understand people.
Not merely command them.
Because one day...
the silver crown of the elves would rest upon her head.
Eliana would become the Queen of the Elf Kingdom.
But that future still felt impossibly far away.
For now...
she was simply a sixteen-year-old girl standing beneath the leaves.
The balcony door opened.
Eliana turned.
"You're late."
A young woman stepped outside.
Enri Silverleaf.
Eliana's older sister.
They shared no blood.
But blood had never been necessary.
Their father had adopted Enri when she was younger.
And over the years...
the word adopted had slowly lost its meaning.
To Eliana...
Enri was simply her sister.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Enri smiled.
"You were waiting for me?"
"I was wondering where you were."
"That's another way of saying waiting."
Eliana looked away.
"I suppose."
Enri laughed.
She walked beside her.
For a moment...
both sisters simply watched the kingdom.
Then Enri spoke.
"Father received another message from the Holy Kingdom."
Eliana's expression became slightly more serious.
"The Prince?"
Enri nodded.
Her marriage had already been decided.
Years ago...
the Silverleaf family and the Holy Kingdom had agreed upon it.
She would eventually marry the Prince of the Holy Kingdom.
Not immediately.
The Prince was still too young.
The marriage would happen once he reached the appropriate age.
It was a political arrangement.
A bridge between two kingdoms.
A promise of peace.
Trade.
Knowledge.
And mutual protection.
Eliana looked at her sister.
"Are you unhappy?"
Enri smiled.
"No."
"Really?"
"Really."
She looked toward the distant horizon.
"Father has given me a family."
Her voice became softer.
"He gave me a home when I had none."
Eliana remained quiet.
Enri continued.
"How could I turn my back on his wishes so easily?"
Eliana frowned.
"You don't have to sacrifice yourself because you owe him something."
Enri smiled and gently touched her head.
"You worry too much."
"I'm serious."
"I know."
Enri's smile remained.
"And perhaps one day..."
She looked toward the distant human lands.
"...I will understand what that future truly means."
Eliana lowered her gaze.
"Then..."
"What?"
"If you become the Queen of the Holy Kingdom..."
Enri smiled.
"And if you become the Queen of the elves..."
The two sisters looked at each other.
For a moment...
neither spoke.
Then Eliana laughed.
"That's strange."
"What?"
"Two sisters..."
"Two kingdoms."
"Two crowns."
Enri smiled.
"Perhaps fate has a strange sense of humour."
Eliana laughed softly.
"But no matter where you go..."
Enri finished her sentence.
"...we remain sisters."
Eliana nodded.
"Always."
A soft bell rang from the lower city.
The sound travelled through the forest.
The evening preparations had begun.
Elven merchants closed their stalls.
Children returned home.
Guards took their positions near the gates.
Scholars carried ancient books into the great library.
And somewhere beneath the kingdom...
the roots of the Heart Tree continued carrying mana through the earth.
That same natural energy travelled outward...
through roots...
streams...
and hidden underground paths.
Toward the mountains.
Toward Restart Village.
The river continued flowing.
The village continued living.
And the world remained connected in ways few people understood.
Later that evening...
Eliana walked alone through the palace garden.
Moonlight rested upon the flowers.
The leaves above her reflected silver light.
She stopped beside a small pond.
Her reflection stared back.
For a moment...
she thought about the future.
The kingdom.
Her father.
Enri.
The Holy Kingdom.
And then...
without warning...
another thought appeared.
Someone.
A person whose name she kept hidden.
A person she had never spoken about.
Her expression softened.
A tiny smile appeared.
Then she immediately looked away.
"No..."
She whispered.
"Not yet."
Her fingers touched one of the silver flowers beside her.
"There is still time."
She smiled faintly.
Whatever she felt...
she would keep it to herself.
For now.
Enri found her later beneath the Heart Tree.
"You disappeared again."
Eliana looked up.
"I wanted some quiet."
Enri sat beside her.
"Thinking about the future?"
"Maybe."
Enri smiled.
"Don't think too far ahead."
"Why?"
"Because the future changes."
Eliana looked toward the enormous tree.
Its branches moved slowly beneath the moon.
"What if it doesn't?"
Enri looked at her.
"Then we'll change with it."
Eliana smiled.
The sisters sat beneath the ancient tree.
Two young elves.
Two different futures.
Two kingdoms waiting somewhere beyond the horizon.
And neither could yet understand...
how much the world would eventually demand from them.
The wind passed through the leaves.
One silver leaf detached itself from the branch.
It floated downward.
Slowly.
Quietly.
Before landing between the sisters.
Eliana picked it up.
She looked at its delicate shape.
A leaf could travel far when carried by the wind.
It never knew where it would land.
Perhaps...
people were the same.
Far away...
beyond the Forest of Life...
beyond the mountains...
beyond Restart Village...
the Death Forest remained silent.
Three regions.
Three different faces of the same world.
Death.
Life.
And the fragile place between them where ordinary people simply lived.
Yet the distance between those worlds...
was not as great as it appeared.
The river knew.
The mountains knew.
The roots knew.
And perhaps...
one day...
the people would know too.
Eliana slowly closed her fingers around the silver leaf.
She looked toward the distant horizon.
Something in her heart told her...
her peaceful life would not remain peaceful forever.
But she did not fear it.
She simply smiled.
"Whatever waits beyond those mountains..."
she whispered,
"I'll face it when the time comes."
Narrator
A kingdom may sleep peacefully beneath the moon...
while destiny quietly walks toward its gates.
And sometimes...
the girl standing beneath the silver leaves...
is not merely waiting for the future.
She is the one...
the future has been waiting for.
