Vivienne read the Ashe withdrawal order beneath the same broadcast crystals still replaying her vault victory.

The document removed family counsel, field protection and access to every house blade instructor unless she left Team Sterling before midnight.

The clauses ran to a full page of small print, which was the family’s way of making withdrawal feel like an enormous decision.

’They waited until she won on national feed, then priced the victory while applause was still warm, damn, her family has excellent timing for cowardice.’

Damien returned the final page without offering an answer she had not requested, keeping both hands away from the folded seal.

"The order gives you six hours," he said, watching her eyes move across the clauses. "Tell me what support remains yours before anybody discusses the team."

"My academy enrollment survives and two private accounts remain outside house custody," she replied, marking each line through a pencil. "Independent counsel may challenge the training restriction as it stands."

Mina set the burned relay plates across their table, listening while replacing warped copper beneath one small hammer that kept time with her breathing.

"My workshop can register your blade maintenance without Ashe instructors, though that does not solve money or legal representation," she said, removing one ruined contact.

Isolde opened the housing ledger beside her, finding the independent lease Vivienne had secured after the Marlowe ruling.

"The counsel who protected my rooms dislikes great houses professionally," she said, writing Feyn’s office number. "I can purchase one introduction without purchasing your decision itself."

’Nobody told her to stay, nobody performed noble distance, and somehow the room became more useful than every family meeting in the original book.’

Vivienne contacted Feyn through a sealed charm, reviewed the loss schedule and signed payment from her private account before touching the team field.

"I understand the consequences now," she said, closing the charm. "Which means the next answer belongs to me rather than the panic this order intended."

The pencil marks stayed where they landed, which meant the list had been built before the order arrived.

The Day Three elimination exchange began at sunset inside a rotating ring, each team defending four standards while trying to cut the opponent’s central banner.

House Ashe posted a public observer above Vivienne’s lane, making every movement evidence for whatever punishment came next.

The observer carried a recording crystal approved for official use, which meant every movement would reach the family exactly as it happened.

’They want her to hesitate on camera, so the cleanest refusal is probably winning hard enough that nobody can pretend she misunderstood.’

Their opponents drove three heavy fighters toward Mina’s standard, expecting Vivienne to protect the artificer under Damien’s command.

She ignored the expected lane and attacked the empty center, forcing all three defenders to turn while Isolde’s contact mist spread beneath their retreat.

"Pressure belongs where I place it," Vivienne said, cutting the first banner cable without looking back. "Keep the left standard exposed until their captain fully commits."

"Leaving expensive property unattended usually bothers me, though your family observer appears much more distressed," Mina replied, arming two buried plates.

The enemy captain took the opening, crossed toward Mina and landed inside a barrier cage that folded around both ankles.

’Vivienne used her supposed loyalty against them, which is the kind of answer an Ashe training hall should understand without subtitles.’

Damien held the remaining two fighters through Gutter footwork without cashing his growing balance, waiting for Vivienne’s exact field call rather than replacing it.

The balance climbed while he moved, which made the fight feel less like combat and more a held breath.

[Debt: 0 → 388]

[Compounding Wrath: 388 → 403]

"Center is open for nine seconds, so finish the banner and leave their bodies attached," she said, pinning one defender’s sleeve against his own standard.

Damien used Flicker through her pressure line and cut the central banner free without striking either trapped student.

[Elimination exchange won]

[Field command credit: Vivienne]

The public board replayed her call three times, followed by the Ashe observer leaving before the applause finished.

’She won through the exact authority they threatened to remove, which should make dinner inside that house extremely unpleasant.’

Vivienne requested the pickup crystal before stepping off the ring, holding the withdrawal order where every camera could read its seal.

"House Ashe ordered me to leave this team or lose protection, counsel and instruction," she said, keeping the page steady. "My refusal is an informed choice rather than an impulsive one."

The score marshal glanced toward the family observer’s empty seat, then allowed the statement to remain on the national record.

"I retain academy enrollment, independent counsel and every skill earned through my own body, which is sufficient for the choice I am making," she continued.

She tore the withdrawal field away from the order without damaging the legal clauses, then pressed her seal beneath one handwritten answer.

The torn paper fell into the same bin as her old academy schedule, which was the closest Vivienne came to burning a document.

[House withdrawal acknowledged]

[Team registration retained]

[Fate Bond: Vivienne]

[Scripted state: destabilized]

[Current state: Choice pending]

[Suppressed growth ceiling detected: Level 480]

’The system finally showed the cage around her, yet opening it still requires a choice no victory can make on her behalf.’

National commentary replayed the refusal beside her field call, turning House Ashe’s private punishment into the most watched legal document of Day Three.

One analyst praised her courage, another questioned team influence, while a retired Ashe instructor spent six minutes explaining why obedience had been mislabeled tradition.

’The country wants a clean romance or rebellion clip, but she spent six hours checking accounts before giving anybody an answer. That ruins the easy version for the entire national audience.’

Vivienne rejected four interview requests and accepted one written question about her command credit, answering only the part that belonged to tournament record.

"My decision concerning House Ashe does not transfer authority toward Team Sterling," she said, returning the statement through Feyn’s seal. "Report the field call without inventing any ownership at all."

Damien watched the interviewer read that sentence twice before removing three more dramatic questions from his slate.

"You made him delete half the segment without raising your voice," he said, holding the door while she entered recovery. "That should qualify as a national combat technique by now."

"He wanted a woman choosing between two men," she replied, placing the order beneath her anchor. "The actual dispute concerns my own judgment, so his segment began from a false premise."

’That difference is the whole damn lane, and she can explain it without ever sounding like the story bible hiding behind her mouth.’

Mina’s scan found no injury beneath the mana spike, only pressure building against a ceiling the registry had never displayed before today.

The pressure line on her reader curved upward through the whole scan, ending just below the number the system refused to show.

Isolde copied the Level 480 line into ordinary ink so Vivienne possessed evidence outside any system field she could not personally see.

Mina saw none of the system text, though her relay reader registered one sharp increase through Vivienne’s position before settling.

"Your mana just struck my plate hard enough to bend calibration, which feels medically relevant after public family warfare," she said, catching Vivienne’s wrist.

"It feels clear rather than painful, though clarity has become expensive this week," Vivienne replied, letting Mina finish the scan.

Isolde handed Feyn’s confirmed appointment across the table when they returned to the team room, leaving every release condition highlighted.

Damien opened the re-anchor terms only after Vivienne asked, explaining the ceiling, permanent release right and paired boon without calling the result destiny.

"Doing nothing changes no workshop access, team authority or relationship we currently possess," he said, keeping the panel turned toward her.

"Stop offering departure before I finish reading," she replied, pulling the panel closer. "Your fear of coercion can become another method of answering for me."

’She caught the habit cleanly, damn, I keep putting an exit in her hand before she even decides whether a door exists.’

Vivienne read every condition twice and copied each one onto ordinary paper for Feyn to review outside system language.

"Tomorrow we fight the quarterfinal Correction your creature keeps smelling," she said, folding the copy into her coat. "Then I will decide with evidence from my own life still intact."

Blank climbed onto her forearm for the first time and settled beside the broken Ashe seal without hissing.
