The second day placed thirty-two students inside a broken city model and told them to rescue six marshals before the artificial rift reached collapse.

Team Sterling entered without Mina’s claimant relay, using hand signals, timed calls and the unpleasant knowledge that yesterday’s sabotage remained officially scored.

’No copper positions, no trusted towers, plus six marshals tied inside buildings designed to fall, which sounds like a committee asking fate for creative input.’

The course bell opened four streets at once, filling the model with gray dust while damage counters appeared above every team.

Vivienne took the eastern lane, Isolde moved toward the clinic shell, and Mina set independent anchors along Damien’s central route without linking them to score contacts.

"The first marshal lies beneath the tram office, though the load wall has been cut recently from below," Vivienne called, striking the suspicious seam through one blade.

"Leave it standing for twelve seconds while I drain the reactive mortar, since somebody taught the building to punish correct doors," Isolde replied, opening a green vial.

’They are solving the city faster without official help, damn, Mina may start charging the tournament for removing its equipment.’

Damien crossed the central square through Flicker and found a neutral marshal suspended above a dry fountain by three scored chains.

Eye of Reckoning returned no monster inside the square, yet Blank screamed from Mina’s pack and flattened into a black patch against the lid.

[Correction pressure detected]

[Displaced casualty route forming]

’The danger has no body yet, which means it is borrowing somebody else’s miracle before deciding where the bill lands.’

On the western street, Lucas cut a collapsed wall and reached two trapped marshals through an opening that appeared beneath falling stone at the exact angle of his sword.

The national crowd roared while dust missed his white coat by inches, leaving one bright path from his team toward the extraction line.

Damien’s fountain chains tightened at the same moment, dragging the neutral marshal downward as black cracks spread across the square.

"Mina, the correction moved here when his route opened, give me anchors around the fountain without touching score metal," Damien said, drawing Verdict beneath the first chain.

"Four independent plates are going down, so keep the marshal inside their square while I teach geometry some manners," she replied, throwing copper discs from the clinic roof.

’Lucas gets a perfect door, this man gets an underground grave, and the system still wants me to call luck harmless.’

Vivienne abandoned her marked extraction line after freeing the eastern marshal, reaching Damien before the second chain drove him toward the fountain edge.

"I will carry pressure clockwise, which leaves you one opening beneath the southern clasp," she said, crossing both blades against a descending support arm.

Isolde coated the trapped marshal’s uniform through clear resin, protecting exposed skin when gray fountain water turned black beneath his feet.

"The liquid is not poison until the scoring light touches it, so destroy the witness tower before it finishes becoming chemistry," she said, pulling the marshal’s face above the rising film.

’A rescue course just weaponized observation itself, shit, the Benefactor learned from the Proofreader faster than we did.’

Damien branded the southern scoring tower as a Level 980 Correction body assembled from borrowed equipment.

[Death Flag: Displaced miracle]

[Fatality: 93%]

The tower opened a black eye near its crown, then redirected every falling structure away from Lucas’s street and toward the fountain square.

"That movement is deliberate, and everybody recording this can see where the debris changed direction," Vivienne said, cutting the clasp before a roof section reached Mina.

"Keep saying useful things for the cameras, since yesterday taught officials to fear complete sentences," Damien replied, catching the first slab against Iron Veil.

[Debt: 0 → 392]

Mina’s four anchors locked beneath the marshal, creating a platform outside every scored network while her burned arm shook around the control key.

"The platform holds thirty seconds without relay support, which is considerably longer than your ribs deserve," she said, forcing the fourth plate level.

’She rebuilt our entire positioning system overnight, then calls it independent hardware as if sleep became an optional workshop expense.’

Lucas emerged from the western lane carrying one injured marshal, saw the central collapse and changed direction before his team reached extraction.

He threw his own rescue token toward the finish judge, then entered Damien’s street without cameras needing to ask.

"The northern building is coming down across your exit, so move the trapped marshal toward my barrier before it closes," Lucas shouted, planting a white shield beneath the falling facade.

’He chose this before the crowd rewarded it, which would be easier to hate if the choice belonged entirely to fate.’

The white shield held the building long enough for Vivienne and Isolde to carry the neutral marshal clear, but Lucas took stone across one shoulder when his perfect route finally missed him.

No golden light repaired the injury, leaving blood visible beneath his torn sleeve while Fate’s Favorite strained against Damien’s vision.

[Current-scale miracle spent]

The Correction tower screamed without sound and pulled the entire model toward its foundation, trying to convert thirty-two students into payment for one rescued man.

Damien used Flicker across Mina’s anchors, taking two black lashes along his coat while Compounding Wrath lifted the balance through valid hostile exchanges.

[Debt: 392 → 901]

[Compounding Wrath: 901 → 937]

’Still under cap, no Stay, one clean strike if Isolde makes the damn tower vulnerable before the city lands.’

Isolde threw the corrupted fountain resin across its base, using the scoring light to turn the Correction’s own chemistry against its housing.

"Your witness tower can now observe itself dissolving, which feels educational enough for national competition," she said, stepping behind Mina’s last plate.

Vivienne cut a pressure lane through the falling street while Lucas held his barrier and shouted three unassigned students toward the opening.

Damien released Reckoning into the dissolved base, driving Verdict through black-gold crystal until the entire borrowed body split beneath the eye.

[Reckoning: 937 × 2.0 = 1,874]

[Verdict conductance: 2,248]

The city model stopped falling in sections, emergency supports catching four buildings while every redirected fragment lost its impossible path.

All six marshals crossed extraction alive, followed by thirty-two students and one golden boy holding his injured shoulder without miraculous repair.

’Thirty-three levels for killing the machine that moved a city toward us, while Lucas gets blood and no invisible applause, damn, the difference is finally visible.’

The public board updated before medical staff finished binding Lucas’s shoulder, awarding him primary command credit for the full joint evacuation.

Lucas read the board from the medical rail, then looked across the arena toward Damien while the crowd celebrated a rescue he had never commanded.
