Villain's Refund System: The Protagonist's Harem Is Mine
Chapter 58 Re-anchored
Mina found her Fate Bond entry while auditing the shared workshop ledger Damien had promised she could inspect freely.
The panel appeared above Verdict’s tempering record when her copper key opened their joint-access archive.
[Fate Bond: Mina Park]
[Current state: Unanchored]
[Re-anchor requires informed mutual choice]
She read it twice before turning from the screen with both arms folded beneath a grease-marked gray coat.
"Explain why your invisible system maintains a category carrying my full name," she said, locking the archive door behind him.
"It identifies scripted pressure attached to your future and our current relationship," Damien replied, staying beyond the workbench until invited closer.
"That explanation contains two alarming nouns hiding beneath one careful sentence," Mina said, pulling the panel onto her own reader.
’She deserves enough truth to choose without learning her world came from a novel, damn, find the boundary and do not manipulate it.’
Damien explained that Mina’s old future pushed her toward Lucas, capped her growth and treated inventions as support for somebody else’s legend.
He described the system recognizing their bond after she repeatedly chose different routes, while refusing to call either outcome destiny.
"So this re-anchor could remove the old pressure and attach something new toward you," she said, marking both risks across her reader.
"Yes, which means doing nothing remains a valid choice without changing workshop access or our relationship," Damien answered immediately.
"Nah, stop offering the safe answer before I finish understanding the dangerous one," Mina replied, pointing one screwdriver toward his chest.
’She wants information instead of reassurance, good, answer what she asks rather than performing noble distance.’
The system displayed every known condition after Mina demanded readable costs instead of reward language.
[Re-anchor effects]
[Old scripted ceiling removed]
[Mutual bond registered by present consent]
[Permanent release right retained by both parties]
[No command authority transferred]
[No system access transferred]
Mina read each line aloud, then made Damien confirm that release required no punishment, lost levels or permission.
"The system claims no penalty, though unknown Script consequences may still react afterward," he said, refusing certainty beyond evidence.
"Good, that answer finally admits the machine cannot promise everything," she replied, placing the screwdriver beside her reader.
The old scholarship rejection remained pinned above her bench, showing Level 148 as the ceiling used to cut funding.
’She looks at that number whenever anybody discusses talent, fuck, the Script turned her future into administrative proof she should remain small.’
Mina removed the rejection from its pin and placed it beneath the Fate Bond panel without tearing either page.
"I choose to learn what exists beyond that ceiling," she said, touching the unanchored line through one steady finger.
"That choice does not need to include me," Damien replied, naming the distinction before the system could blur it.
"I know," she answered, stepping around the bench until her boots touched his, "choosing you remains the separate part I also want."
Her hand caught his collar and pulled him down, but Mina stopped before their mouths met until he answered through words.
"I choose you while keeping every release right exactly where it is," Damien said, placing his palm against her warm waist.
"I can end this without becoming a villain in your private story," she replied, watching his face for disagreement.
"Agreed, though ending it may still hurt both of us without making either person property," he answered.
’No grand promise and no ownership, damn, this feels stronger than anything fate could force.’
Mina kissed him once beneath the open panel, then pressed her hand against its confirmation line without releasing his collar.
[Mutual choice confirmed]
[Fate Bond re-anchored]
[Mina Park retains permanent release authority]
[Old scripted level ceiling removed]
Mana crossed the workshop floor through every tool carrying Mina’s maker seal, lifting copper light around both bodies.
Her registry reader climbed beyond Level 148 before either of them moved away from the panel.
[Mina Park]
[Registered level: 148 → 231]
[Growth ceiling: Removed]
Mina stared at 231 until excitement broke through her mouth as one breathless laugh.
"For real, those scholarship idiots cut funding over a ceiling that never belonged to me," she said, gripping the reader through both hands.
"The number is yours and so is everything you build past it," Damien replied, keeping his own reward panel closed.
’Do not turn her breakthrough into my payout, let Mina own the moment before system dopamine starts screaming.’
She ran three diagnostic drills across the workshop, pushing mana through tools that had stalled against her old cap for years.
One folding barrier opened twice its previous width and remained stable while copper joints changed shape beneath command.
Mina shouted in excitement, swore when the hinge overheated, then fixed the fault before Damien reached for any tool.
"Level 231 apparently makes your equipment celebrate through attempted arson," he said, holding one cooling plate near her elbow.
"This hinge failed from cowardice after witnessing genuine potential," she replied, replacing it through a stronger alloy pin.
The shared workshop registry opened another paired entry once her barrier carried both maker consent and Damien’s claimant seal.
[Artificer’s Claim acquired]
[Mutually submitted creations qualify for System Shop tempering]
[Maker retains authorship]
[Claimant consent required per item]
"No automatic access to my inventions," Mina said, reading the panel before Damien could celebrate, "that line remains nonnegotiable."
"Good, joint work should require both signatures every time," he replied, adding separate copper seals beneath the registry.
The system released its one-time quest reward after their ownership rules entered workshop storage.
[Re-anchor quest complete]
[SP awarded: 16,000]
[Paired tempering route unlocked]
[System response: Choice acknowledged]
’It says acknowledged instead of purchased, good, maybe the machine actually understands what happened here.’
Across campus, Mina’s new registered level reached the scholarship office through an automated talent notice.
The same clerk who had signed her funding cut opened Level 231 beside yesterday’s ceiling denial.
He tried rejecting the update, but academy rules forwarded any increase above fifty levels toward the patron who ordered review.
[Mandatory scholarship reassessment opened]
[Previous ceiling determination invalidated]
Mina watched the forwarding receipt and displayed enough teeth to worry anybody familiar with workshop explosives.
"That clerk gets to explain why he buried a Level 231 artificer under somebody else’s order," Damien said, saving the receipt.
"I get to explain it through a complete invoice and public appeal," she replied, pinning the new registry above her bench.
’Face slap through automated paperwork should feel boring, somehow Mina makes administration look violent.’
Several new panels appeared after Damien closed the reward screen, each using language the system had never shown before.
[Bond quest available]
[Support a choice made without your benefit]
[Reward: Growth shared only when requested]
[Bond quest available]
[Build something neither script assigned]
Mina read both through the shared reader and looked toward Damien before touching either acceptance field.
"The system liked receiving consent and immediately invented homework," she said, switching off the panel without accepting.
"Even supernatural approval turns into assignments around us," Damien replied, helping her lift the expanded barrier.
They left every new quest unopened while Mina tested power beyond the ceiling fate had written for her.
