Black fire crossed Damien’s bedroom wall and replayed his final strike through the center of its hooked sigil.

The image showed Verdict entering the Correction vessel from an angle no trial crystal had captured.

’That happened inside a sealed chamber, fuck, the mark stood close enough to watch through my own shadow.’

Damien shut the door behind him before any corridor guard noticed light spreading over the carpet.

He pushed ordinary mana into the wall, but every hook swallowed its silver glow and widened around the private memory.

"Excellent narrowing, there are only three completely different nightmares left," Damien said, drawing Verdict toward the flame.

The saber made the sigil recoil beneath its edge, though black fire shifted toward his desk before contact.

Damien switched into workshop mana copied from Mina’s receiver and struck the lower hook through Iron Veil.

The mark absorbed that signature too, replaying her illegal vault message across his bedroom mirror.

’It saw Mina break the blackout, damn, this thing is collecting everyone who helps me leave the script.’

A third strike carried Vivienne’s residual Mirror-Edge mana from the collapsing chamber along Verdict’s flat.

Black flame showed her sword at Damien’s throat, then expanded around the half-truth he had given afterward.

He stopped attacking before the mark uncovered more private moments through every borrowed signature.

"Right, you disgusting wall stain, Verdict hurts and everything else feeds your spying habit," he said, lowering the blade.

The sigil opened one faceless eye, then moved its fire toward the shadow beneath his bed.

Damien pinned that shadow using Verdict, trapping a living hook between gold steel and carpet.

’Hold it here until Mina arrives, assuming she does not murder the guards for searching her tools.’

The bedroom door opened through a shower of broken ward sparks while Mina kicked one ruined lock across the floor.

Isolde entered behind her carrying six poison vials, followed by Bram beneath enough equipment straps to restrain a large animal.

"Your guards confiscated two scanners and called my wrench ceremonial contraband," Mina said, dropping a copper cage around the trapped hook.

"They also objected to my poison," Isolde added, closing the door with one heel, "so House Sterling may lack proper hospitality."

"Both complaints can wait until the living sigil stops reviewing my bedroom," Damien replied, keeping pressure on Verdict.

Bram unfolded three ward screens around the wall while carefully avoiding every black reflection across the floor.

"The house archive recognizes no matching curse family," he said, feeding records through shaking fingers, "which should surprise nobody anymore."

’He is terrified and still unpacked every screen, good man, though somebody needs to keep the egg far from this mess.’

Mina connected the copper cage to Damien’s cuff, trapping one flame fragment when Verdict cut through its base.

The fragment struck each bar before settling into a black knot around the central contact.

’It copied my heartbeat after one touch, ugh, this parasite collects intimacy faster than half the nobles at that gala.’

[Living Benefactor fragment contained]

"Do not celebrate yet," Mina said, tightening the cage until her knuckles pressed against brass, "this sample keeps copying your pulse."

"Let it copy mine after you add something lethal to the pattern," Isolde replied, opening a violet vial near the contact.

"Your last lethal sample dissolved my calibration tray," Mina answered, moving the cage beyond her reach, "keep romantic poison away from this work."

Isolde looked toward Damien with amusement while black flame continued replaying the Bloodright across his wall.

"Your artificer becomes possessive around contaminated equipment," she said, rolling the vial between two pale fingers, "that seems useful to remember."

"My equipment includes anything currently keeping him alive," Mina replied, cutting a copper strip without looking up, "interpret that carefully."

’Those two are discussing ownership beside my bed, damn, surviving the mark may create a different fatality event.’

Verdict severed another hook when Damien pushed controlled Debt through its gold tally rather than foreign mana.

The mark shrank, which confirmed it feared printed Reckoning conductance instead of the saber’s ordinary steel.

"It responds to authored payout damage," Mina said, reading the cage while one copied pulse failed, "your weapon makes system force physically stable."

"Then we cut this entire wall into small payable pieces," Damien replied, placing Sinner’s Brand against the largest hook.

[Brand rejected]

[Target owns no recognized fate]

"Of course it has no fate while editing everyone else’s," he said, withdrawing the mark before black heat reached his wrist.

’Without a debtor, large Reckoning fails, use tiny held releases through Verdict and peel one line at a time.’

Damien fed ten Debt into each cut while Mina trapped fragments and Isolde burned whatever escaped toward the windows.

Bram shifted the screens whenever the sigil tried entering their reflections, over-explaining each movement through increasingly breathless warnings.

"The left mirror is copying Lady Marlowe’s shadow, while your wardrobe now contains two impossible corners," he said, dragging one panel sideways.

"Cover the mirror first and let geometry apologize later," Damien replied, severing a hook before it reached Bram’s ankle.

Twenty cuts reduced the sigil to one black streak across the wall, though that line refused every gold strike.

It replayed Isolde’s execution vision instead of the Bloodright, showing a Marlowe reception beneath green poison mist.

A silver-haired guest drank through one glass while the woman’s public name vanished from every nearby invitation card.

’The target changes after security closes, shit, guarding Isolde will miss whoever receives that glass instead.’

Isolde stopped smiling when her own future appeared, then pressed the violet vial against Damien’s sword.

"Burn the remaining line before it decides whose death should entertain us," she said, watching the unnamed guest collapse.

"Wait before cutting anything else inside my active containment field," Mina replied, catching Damien’s wrist as Verdict moved, "the final fragment carries a route timestamp."

Black letters formed beneath the future scene and marked tomorrow evening inside Marlowe’s eastern reception hall.

"Trap one living piece, then destroy every route toward this room," Damien said, changing his grip around Verdict.

Mina folded the line into her copper cage while Isolde’s poison forced its edges away from each bar.

The wall returned to pale stone beneath a burn shaped around Damien’s final Bloodright strike.

[Next Script event detected]

A formal envelope slid under the bedroom door before any of them approached the corridor.

Isolde recognized the red wax and picked it up using the edge of one poison vial.

"My mother formally invites you to tomorrow evening’s private reception," she said, breaking the seal while green eyes read beyond the printed courtesy.

"Did your mother send that before or after a murder vision appeared across my wall?" Damien asked, taking the inner card.

"Before, which means somebody selected the event around an existing guest list," she replied, turning the invitation toward Mina’s scanner.

The system covered its elegant script before the machine finished reading.

[Script Quest: Antidote First]

[Poisoning fatality: 82%]

[Execution frame shift in progress]

[Target cannot be guarded directly]

’The victim disappears from the list while poison moves through servants, fine, stop hunting a name and follow the antidote.’

Damien sheathed Verdict and took the invitation before its quest text faded.

"We attend the reception and identify what reacts against the poison before anybody drinks," he said, facing three worried expressions.

Mina lifted the living fragment while its copied pulse changed toward the rhythm beneath Isolde’s wrist.

"This disgusting thing just switched targets immediately after hearing your plan," she said, locking the cage inside a second brass case.

"Then it can watch us carefully prepare an entirely wrong defense," Damien replied, crushing the bedroom mirror beneath Verdict’s sheath.

He left the burned wall visible and carried the real plan out through another door.
