Rize knew his options were very limited. He looked at the mist and knew that if he touched it, something bad was going to happen. Even if it did nothing to him, the whispers seemed to be coming from down there, so he wanted to avoid the ground as much as possible.

But he somehow needed to get to Venera and Rose. The fact that none of this had disturbed them or awakened them from their slumber told him that something had happened to them. Luckily, Rize could tell they were still alive, as he could sense their essence from inside the tents.

’How do I get to them?’ He clenched his teeth as he saw the mist approaching him, so he leaped from the branch he was standing on to another branch to avoid the mist as it kept spreading everywhere.

’I don’t have any other choice but to somehow pull them from down there. Endless, can you do it for me?’ He asked his trusted ability. Naturally, Endless Hunger didn’t reply, but Rize knew it wanted to try to do what he asked.

So, he summoned it and wrapped it around his arm before he shot it down toward the tent. Even as it touched the mist, it oddly didn’t get affected by it so Rize was able to make it reach the tent. Slicing it open, Endless Hunger got inside and wrapped around Venera.

"Ok, here goes nothing... Come on, Endless. Don’t let me down." Rize grabbed his arm and clenched his teeth as he channeled all his Essence before he pulled his arm up. The Black Matter pulled Venera’s body up as it slowly ascended through the hole.

The mist instantly tried to go after Venera when it noticed its presence. However, Rize instantly shifted his focus as he made Endless Hunger completely wrap around Venera as he tried to protect her.

However, doing those two things at the same time was a huge tax on Rize’s mental strength. He had been practicing multitasking with Endless Hunger for quite a while now, and he had improved quite a bit in that regard. However, he was still far from good enough at it.

If he tried to cover Venera completely, he might risk her slipping out of his grip. He could only focus on pulling her as fast as he could.

The mist was able to penetrate through the holes and touch Venera’s body.

"Goddammit!!!" Rize yelled as he used even more force and finally pulled Venera to the branch and pulled her down. Quickly, he checked her condition and exhaled when he noticed that she was breathing normally and simply looked deeply asleep.

He felt relieved as he quickly turned around and stretched his arm down for Rose. His face was covered in sweat. He was exerting himself to the extreme, trying to get them out of trouble. However, Rise, with all the adrenaline in his body, was able to exert himself so much and get Rose out of danger too as he pulled them up to the tree.

Meanwhile, the mist was approaching rapidly, so Rize quickly grabbed both of them, put them on his shoulders, and leaped off the branch, landing on a clear area in the forest before he started running rapidly.

"Hah... Hah... Hah..."

"Bleed, Rize."

"Why don’t you want to bleed for us?"

"I’m not going to bleed for you, freak!" Rize yelled as he looked over his shoulder. The mist was chasing him rapidly and closing the distance faster than he could run or maneuver out of it.

"I need to find a way out of here, fast. It will get to us soon." He looked left and right before he changed directions.

Running through the thick trees, he tried to lose the mist by using the forest itself and the darkness of the night. He ran left and right, never moving in a straight line as he used every possible tree to his advantage while keeping an eye on his surroundings. Since Venera and Rose were both very light, he was able to run at his top speed without any problems.

However, what was really a problem was his ability to fight with both of these girls on his shoulders. He could run the risk of hurting them if he wasn’t careful enough. After running for several minutes, Rize stopped and looked behind him while breathing heavily.

His face was pale and tired from all the effort he exerted. He tried to rest for a moment while checking the condition of his two companions.

"Why are you two not waking up?" He muttered. "Come on... Venera! Rose!"

However, no matter how much he shook them or how much he called their names, the two were in a deep slumber.

’What am I supposed to do? Should I alert the supervisors, or is this a part of the test?’ Rize clenched his teeth in frustration as he tried to think of his next move. He knew that going back wasn’t an option, as the mist was coming from that direction.

However, at the same time, he couldn’t just do the climb with these two on his shoulders. It had to be impossible...

’Maybe there is some sort of station at the foot of the mountain that I could call for help from there.’ He thought to himself. ’My only option is continuing forward anyway.’ He clenched his teeth as he pulled the two up and turned around to start moving again.

In his mind, he thought he had lost the mist a while ago after running through the thick woods. But before he could even take a step, he suddenly heard the whispers again, making his body shudder from sheer fear.

He looked to the side instantly, and he saw the mist coming toward him. Then, he looked to the left and behind him and realized that he was being surrounded.

’What the fuck!!!!’ He clenched his teeth as he started running as fast as he could as the mist chased after him. ’How did it make it here so fast? I made sure to hide well. Does it have eyes everywhere in the forest?’

Rize realized that he couldn’t even hide from this mist, even when he tried. It made things even worse, as he had no other option but to run, something that he couldn’t do forever. Rize ran and ran and ran as he tried to avoid the mist while it closed in on him from three directions rapidly.

’Please, give me something to work with! I can’t run forever!’ He thought to himself. Rize had no plan for how he could avoid the mist. He only had a minute or two before he got caught.

Suddenly, as he ran past a thick bush, he suddenly came to a halt, just at the very last second before falling down. He looked down, his eyes wide and his mouth gaping, gasping for air.

He was standing before a long cliff that seemed to lead down to another section of the forest.

’Is this all I could get, really?’ He asked himself. ’Ugh...’

Looking back, he saw the most creeping toward him rapidly, so he bit his lip. "I’m sorry, guys, this is going to hurt a little bit.

Wrapping their bodies in Endless Hunger, Rize sucked in a deep breath before he took a step into the darkness and fell down the cliff. He hugged both girls tightly to protect them from the impact.

Luckily, the fall wasn’t too high, as they all slammed into the ground a few seconds later. They rolled a few times before they finally stopped.

"Ug...h... Cough, cough..." Rize groaned in pain as he released Endless Hunger and checked the two girls. "They’re... fine... Ugh..."

He clenched his teeth as he stood up and looked at the cliff. There, he saw the mist at the end before it stopped and looked down at him while the whispers continued in his head. Luckily, it didn’t try to descend after him.

"... Haha, you can’t do that, can you, bastard?" He asked with a cold laugh. Then, he turned around. "But I won’t wait to see if it proves me wrong or not; it probably has another route to get to me."

So, he walked toward the two girls to pick them up. However, at that moment, almost out of nowhere, the two girls moved. They slowly picked themselves up from the ground and stood on their feet.

"Venera! Rose! Are you ok?!" He yelled when he saw them finally awake as he rushed to them. "You two were completely out of it, and some sort of mist has been chasing us the entire... time..."

As Rize spoke, he noticed something odd. Neither of the girls was speaking.

"Venera?" He called for her again, but she didn’t reply. So, he bit his lip and grabbed her shoulder. "Venera!!! Can you hear me?! Snap out-"

Before he could even finish the sentence...
