Chapter 111- Protagonist Things (Part 5)
The moment Rize heard the noise, he stood up and looked at the door. The sound of people running everywhere and yelling, along with the noise from the struggle, filled their ears. He looked at Venera, walked to the door, and put his ear next to it.
"It seems our friends are already here." He said with a smile on his face. "Should we give them a warm welcome?"
"You’re too bored, Rize," Venera said.
"I guess seeing everyone get into it down there got me a bit excited." He shrugged. "I reckon this is the best way to start. They’re stuck in here with us, and they got nowhere to go."
"Sigh, yeah, you have a point," Venera replied as she stood up and stretched her limbs. "Do you want to start the challenge now?"
"Of course!"
"Well, good luck then."
Opening the door, Rize walked out, followed by Venera, as they looked down the corridor and saw several people in a brutal fight for the badges.
"Let go!! You bastard!"
*Swish*
"No!!!"
The punches and kicks being exchanged were fueled by anger and frustration. Even though these people didn’t even know each other a mere few minutes ago, they were now enemies struggling to fight for spots in the academy. Nothing was personal, and yet the constant punches and the pain from each hit made it seem so.
As the fight continued, one of the badges was yanked as it flew in the air and fell closer to Rize and Venera. The two looked at it before Rize walked to it and picked it up.
"Huh?"
"Hm?"
The two looked at Rize, and their eyes locked onto the badge. Then, they looked at each other before they pushed each other away and rushed toward the badge.
"Give me that, idiot!"
As the two closed the distance, Rize looked at them with wide eyes before he suddenly... disappeared.
*Swish*
It all happened in a second, faster than they could’ve ever imagined. When they blinked again, he appeared behind them.
In his hands were now three badges, and a cold smile was on his face. Their eyes instantly shot down to their necks, and they realized that their badges had been taken.
"Huh?!"
"When-"
"Sorry, guys. I will borrow these for a while. See ya." Then, he started running.
"Hey! Wait!!!" The two tried to rush after him; however, before they could even take one step, they were both kicked to the ground as a silhouette leaped over them. All they could see was snow-white hair before the person disappeared into the distance, leaving no trace behind.
The two ran down the stairs in a hurry as they heard the noise of the fights occurring on the lower floors. As they reached the third floor down, they saw a bigger group of people fighting for the badges. The number was way higher, and for them, it almost appeared like a treasure trove.
Without uttering a single word, the two rushed into the fray. With their speed and precision, nobody could even anticipate their arrival as their hands moved like a flash, snatching every single badge while the others were still occupied with the fights.
Running in a different direction than Venera, Rize slid under two people fighting as his hands grabbed their badges.
"Thank you, thank you." He said as he landed on his feet and continued running.
"GIVE ME BACK MY BADGES!!!" They yelled as they quickly ran after him, realizing that they had been tricked.
"GET HIM!!!"
As he ran, people realized what he was holding in his hands. Rize had already collected 6 badges, so he was basically the most valuable person in that entire room.
So, naturally, everyone focused on him and attacked without hesitation, aiming for his badges.
"Hey now, weren’t you beating each other up a second ago?" Rize smiled.
"Shut up and give me the badges!"
The first one sent a flying punch toward Rize, who easily dodged it before he kicked him in the stomach, making the boy exhale all the air in his lungs as he fell to the ground. At the same time, another tried to kick him in the back, only for Rize to grab his leg and throw him off balance.
"FUCK YOU!!!"
As he was about to take their badges, another candidate rushed at him as he leaped in the air and punched forward. Rize was about to move and deal with him, only for a silhouette to suddenly appear out of nowhere and kick him to the ground.
Venera then grabbed the badge and looked at Rize.
"No need to thank me." She said playfully.
Rize looked at her and then to the side where she came from. Everyone was on the ground there, wailing in pain as they held parts of their bodies. At the same time, he noticed that Venera had 6 badges in her hands too.
"I was gonna deal with him. I wasn’t in danger."
"Don’t fall behind," Venera said as she started running.
"Tsk, you’re one to speak," Rize said as he grabbed the two badges left and started running after the princess. The two went down several floors as they found more and more candidates fighting.
With their speed and power, they were able to easily sweep every floor and take every single badge with ease. Not a single individual could stand against them or even fight them. All it took was one single move, and each one of them would fall like a fly.
"They’re getting quite heavy," Rize muttered as he looked around him. "Venera had gone down another floor to sweep it clean. I need to continue moving."
"Agh..."
"Sorry, man. Nothing personal. I need this." He said. "I can’t let a certain person be alone."
With that, he turned around and continued running down. Finally, Rize reached the entrance of the building and emerged outside into the chaos.
The battles were still ensuing, as brutal as ever. Everywhere he looked around him, he could see people chasing one another or engaging in a fight for badges.
’This is so weird. I don’t know where I could even start.’ He thought to himself. ’Ok, first of all, I need to get a big bag to put all these badges in, and then we will see what to do about the rest.’
He thought to himself as he ran down and looked around him. He instantly noticed a building that stood out. A convenience store. If he needed a bag, that was the perfect place to look for it. So, he ran toward that place.
"Give me your badges!!!" A girl noticed the badges he was carrying and tried to attack him, only for Rize to stop, tilt his head, and dodge the attack. Then, the girl looked up, and her eyes widened when she saw Rize’s face.
The boy was stunning beyond words. Just a glance at him took her breath away, and she forgot why she was even punching in the first place.
"I would rather not hit girls, you know? It’s kind of distasteful. But if you keep trying, I can’t promise you you won’t be on the ground. Ok?" He said as he looked down at her neck. She didn’t have a badge. "There is a lot more trouble you got going on. Focus on that."
He smiled at her charmingly, making the girl blush profusely.
"Good luck~"
