Chapter 88: After Getting the Badge, That’s When It Really Begins [2]

  • Next Chapter

More and more students, along with the huge commotion caused by the continuous release of skills, had finally thoroughly alarmed the magical beast herd originally living nearby.

The Rock Horned Deer at the very front lowered its head.

Charge!

The sword wielding youth’s expression changed as he was forced to abandon his chase to protect himself.

Meanwhile, Evan took the opportunity to continue upward.

But he had only run a few dozen meters when three more people appeared ahead.

This was the most troublesome part of badge contention.

There was simply no way to know where the next batch of people would pop out from.

...

When Leah arrived at the outer edge of the Rubble Hills, the first thing she heard was not the sound of students talking. It was the continuous explosions produced by battle.

She stepped onto a nearby taller rock and looked forward.

In her line of sight, there were at least twenty students, and they were already completely spread out.

Some chased the badge. Some blocked people. Some were tangled up with Rock Horned Deer that had suddenly charged out.

There were even two temporary teams arguing over who had attacked the same target first.

It could only be described as complete chaos!

Leah’s first thought was that if she went in directly, she would quickly become one of the people surrounded, so she did not move.

Her first main objective was to find the Mana Core Badge.

Her silver gaze quickly swept across the crowd, but she couldn’t find it because there were simply too many people.

Until someone in the distance suddenly shouted.

"He’s heading to the north slope!"

A large number of students immediately changed direction.

Found it.

Leah did not follow everyone in chasing from the front. She lowered her head and glanced at the map.

The north slope of the Rubble Hills was very narrow. Both sides were full of large natural stone pillars.

If the badge holder continued running that way, there were only three exits.

She turned and went around the east side.

...

High monitoring area.

When Victor saw her change direction, he finally smiled as he thought back to his words.

Do not chase speed. Control the route.

That sentence had never only been useful when dealing with Evelyn.

After truly understanding it, combat thinking could naturally be extended.

Leah’s speed was not an advantage. So why did she have to follow a bunch of agility profession people, running behind someone else’s backside, when she could just go wait at the exit?

A few minutes later, north slope.

Evan had already begun to regret taking this badge.

Originally a four person team, now only two people were still following him.

The other two had already triggered emergency teleportation in the earlier melee. Not because they were gravely injured, but because after being surrounded by more than a dozen people, there was simply no need to keep staying.

But he was equally unwilling to give up now.

He could already see the north slope exit. As long as he charged out, there would be a large, dense forest outside.

After entering the forest, only then would a wind element scout truly have a chance to shake those people off.

BOOM!

Wind elements erupted beneath Evan’s feet once again, forcing him several steps forward.

Just when there were less than twenty meters left to the exit, a girl suddenly walked out from behind the stone pillar ahead.

She wore a black and silver combat uniform. There was no sword or shield in her hands, only faint silver mana flowing at her fingertips.

Evan’s face instantly turned dark.

Another one!

"Move aside!"

He did not slow down and charged straight over.

Anyway, the other side looked like a magic type profession.

As long as he got into close range...

Just as this thought appeared, the first silver chain had already risen from the ground.

Evan quickly changed direction, trying to dodge the chains.

However, none of the three chains had actually aimed at his body. All of them landed where he was about to move, blocking his path.

And it was precisely this stop that allowed the pursuers behind him to finally appear.

"There!"

"The badge is in his hand!"

Evan’s expression turned completely ugly.

There were about eight in total. One in front and seven behind.

"Are you people ever going to stop?!"

No one answered him, their eyes glistening with greed. At a time like this, who would reason with him?

Evan gritted his teeth and suddenly put the badge in his hand into his storage ring. Then he looked at Leah.

"You’re here to snatch it too?"

"Yeah."

The girl answered very honestly.

"Then come on."

Evan’s short sword left its sheath.

"Whoever wins, it’s theirs."

However, before they could clash, the seven people behind had already arrived, so Leah wisely chose not to make a move.

One person fighting eight?

She had no such hobby.

And those seven people were likewise not one team.

The moment they entered the exit area, they had already automatically spread apart from each other. No one was willing to be the first to charge.

Because even if the first person to charge defeated Evan, the badge could be snatched by those behind.

For a moment, there was a brief standoff as they all studied each other with their eyes.

Finally, a tall spear warrior was the first to lose patience.

"None of you moving?"

His long spear slammed into the ground.

"Then I’ll go."

He was Level 15 and had a Strength type profession. He did not charge Evan at all. His first spear strike swept at Leah because she just happened to be blocking the exit.

Leah’s expression changed, having not expected to be attacked like this out of the blue. The Astral Chains instantly retracted.

Clang!

The silver chain collided with the spear shaft. The enormous force visibly bent the chain backward. But the spear warrior’s movement was also slowed.

The second chain had already circled around from the side.

The spear warrior had just been about to continue forward when his foot suddenly tightened. Snap! His body lost balance.

"What?"

He had not fallen yet, but just as he adjusted his center of gravity, a speed type student behind him had already gone around the two and charged straight at Evan!

"Mine, mine!" that student repeated to himself, his expression twisted in madness. "The Mana Core Badge is mine!"
