Villainess X Villain: They are obsessed with each other!
Chapter 370 -: 369 Invitation?
Chapter 370: Chapter: 369 Invitation?
After changing her clothes into a plain robe, Elizabeth immediately flew toward the conference room of the Hayes Clan.
Unlike the elaborate robes and garments she sometimes wore during important occasions, there was nothing particularly remarkable about the one she had chosen.
It was simple, practical, and comfortable enough for her to move freely, which was all she cared about at the moment.
The moment she arrived near the conference room, she could already sense the powerful auras coming from within.
The atmosphere was unusually heavy, and Elizabeth could immediately tell that every person currently inside possessed immense strength.
In fact, none of the people sitting in the conference room was weaker than her, and that was considering the fact that she had only just become an Infinite Core Spell Caster.
Taking a deep breath, Elizabeth stepped through the doors without showing the slightest hesitation.
The moment she entered, her eyes swept across the enormous conference table occupying the center of the room.
Representatives from the most powerful forces of humanity were already seated around it, each one occupying a position according to their status and the power they represented.
At the head of the table were two seats reserved for the hosts of today’s meeting, one belonging to Nathaniel and the other to Elizabeth.
Without paying attention to the gazes directed toward her, Elizabeth calmly walked toward her seat and sat down beside Nathaniel before turning her attention toward the people gathered around the table.
The atmosphere was solemn, with none of the usual casual conversations one might expect from a gathering of such influential figures. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ
Everyone present understood why they had been summoned, and more importantly, everyone understood that the war approaching them was no longer something that could be avoided through negotiations or political maneuvering.
Elizabeth looked toward her right and immediately recognized several familiar faces.
Almost every individual present represented one of the most powerful forces spread across the three continents, and every person sitting around the table was an Infinite Core Spell Caster.
Among them was Orin Belebright, the former dean of the Royal Arcane Academy, who had recently broken through into the Infinite Core.
Beside him sat the Patriarch of the Thorne Clan, Crypian Thorne, who had also reached the Infinite Core only a few days ago.
The number of people reaching the Infinite Core had increased considerably in recent days, as the impending war had forced the strongest individuals among humanity to push themselves harder than ever before.
Everyone understood that having one more Infinite Core Spell Caster could potentially make the difference between victory and defeat once the war began, so those who had been close to breaking through had done everything within their ability to reach the next realm before the Zlycons made their move.
Moving her gaze further along the table, Elizabeth noticed Sera Violet, the representative of the Violet Family that ruled the territory near the Thorne Clan.
She too had apparently reached the Infinite Core not long ago. Elizabeth gave the woman a small nod before continuing to examine the remaining figures.
Turning her gaze toward the left side of the table, Elizabeth saw the Pope herself seated there alongside Saint Uriel.
Seth Fairyborn was also present, as was the Patriarch of the Kaizer Family, her own brother, Rupel Kaizer.
Yet despite the importance of all those individuals, there was one person who immediately drew Elizabeth’s attention more than anyone else.
Sitting directly across from her and Nathaniel was someone whose presence alone was enough to make the atmosphere of the conference room feel even heavier.
It was Victor Velentina, a person whom almost no one had expected to attend this meeting. His appearance here meant that every Infinite Core Spell Caster currently representing humanity had gathered in one place, and the significance of that fact was not lost on anyone.
These were the strongest individuals humanity could currently bring together, yet despite their overwhelming strength, there was no confidence or excitement on their faces.
Every expression around the table was solemn because they all knew that their strength did not guarantee victory against what was coming.
Seeing that everyone had arrived, Nathaniel lightly coughed to draw their attention toward him. The quiet sound was enough to make the remaining conversations cease as every pair of eyes turned toward him.
"As you know, the war is inevitable. The Zlycons haven’t left us any means for cooperation," he said, his voice remaining completely neutral.
There was no impatience or frustration in his words, despite the seriousness of the situation. He simply stated the reality they were facing.
"So it is better if we prepare thoroughly. It is most likely that both the floating continents and the four stationary continents will become battlefields once the war begins, so I advise everyone to root out every loose end before that happens."
The meaning behind his words was obvious to everyone in the room. Before the war officially began, they needed to eliminate every potential threat from within, especially the spies and informants that could already be hiding among their forces.
If the Zlycons had people scattered throughout human territories, allowing those spies to remain in place would be equivalent to handing their enemies an advantage before the first battle had even begun.
"I agree," Seth Fairyborn spoke, his expression remaining serious as he leaned slightly forward.
"But what about the agreement we reached during our previous summit? If possible, it would be ideal if we could get rid of one or two Infinite Core Spell Casters before the war begins."
His words immediately reminded everyone of the arrangement discussed during their previous meeting.
The existence of multiple Infinite Core Spell Casters among their enemies was a serious concern, and eliminating even one or two of them before the actual war started could significantly reduce the pressure humanity would face on the battlefield.
However, doing so was easier said than done, especially when their opponents were powerful enough to reach the same realm as the strongest individuals humanity possessed.
Saint Uriel, who had remained silent until then, finally spoke. His blindfold did not move even an inch as he turned his attention toward the others.
The moment he began speaking, every person around the table immediately focused on him.
Although everyone present knew that Uriel was unable to fight directly, nobody underestimated his importance.
His value was entirely different from that of the other Infinite Core Spell Casters gathered here. Just like the previous Saint, his ability to perceive things beyond the reach of ordinary spell casters made him one of humanity’s most valuable assets, especially when they were dealing with an enemy whose movements and intentions were difficult to predict.
"I have divined several times," Uriel began, his voice calm as he continued speaking, "but every divination has been blocked. It is very likely that someone on their side is interfering with my divinations."
His words immediately caused the atmosphere to become even more serious. If even Uriel’s divinations were being obstructed, then it meant that the Zlycons possessed someone or something capable of interfering with one of humanity’s greatest advantages. However, Uriel did not stop there.
"Still, although I couldn’t see the complete future, I was able to obtain a few clues." He paused for a moment, allowing everyone to absorb his words before continuing. "There was a particular path my divination repeatedly guided me toward, and after following it several times, I finally understood what it was asking me to do."
Uriel slowly turned his head toward the people sitting around the table, his expression impossible to read beneath the blindfold.
The silence inside the conference room deepened as everyone waited for him to reveal what he had discovered.
Whatever information he had obtained despite the interference could potentially determine their next move, and nobody wanted to interrupt him before he finished.
Finally, Uriel spoke, his voice remaining calm despite the strange conclusion he had reached.
"And the path my divination asked me to follow..." He paused briefly before finishing his words. "...is to accept the invitation."
