Villainess Rampage: The Whole Sect Begs for Mercy
Chapter 486 - 493: Evil Soul, Unlucky Ghost
Not all the Ghost Messengers were good-tempered. Some would readily curse and beat the newly departed souls, looking utterly vicious.
The souls didn’t dare to resist. They hung their heads and timidly boarded the boat to cross the Forget River.
Song Wanning’s arrival caught the attention of many Ghost Messengers.
But with the Netherworld King backing them, not all of the Ghost Messengers feared her. Most just focused on their own duties and boarded the ferry.
Song Wanning didn’t mind and boarded the boat with them.
The moment she sat down, the Forget River began to churn violently.
The Unlucky Soul almost burst into tears on the spot, screaming as he clung to the railing.
Song Wanning hadn’t been around mortals for a very long time and was a bit unaccustomed to such a noisy reaction.
But she didn’t intervene, silently gazing out at the Forget River.
As always, all sorts of malevolent souls roamed freely within the Forget River.
The Ghost Messengers were long used to this sight, but the new souls screamed in terror. For a moment, the entire Forget River was filled with shrieks.
The Ghost Messengers plugged their ears in perfect unison. Song Wanning also shut off her hearing, and only then did the surroundings feel peaceful.
The Unlucky Soul’s face grew even paler with fear, but thankfully, his desire to reincarnate was so strong that he ultimately made it across the Forget River.
On a boat behind them, however, one soul was dragged under by a malevolent soul, losing their chance at reincarnation.
After enough time passed, it would become just like those other malevolent souls.
The Unlucky Soul was so terrified by this scene that his legs went weak, and he could barely walk.
The Ghost Messenger nearly rolled his eyes into the back of his head and could only keep urging him to hurry up.
"Move it! After I get you registered, I still have to go home to eat and drink!"
He frowned, annoyed. If this dragged on any longer, the tavern would be closed.
"Okay, okay."
The Unlucky Soul quickly picked up his pace. A short while later, they finally arrived at the registration point in Rebirth Valley.
The new souls had already formed a long line. The Unlucky Soul was at the very back, craning his neck to see ahead.
Song Wanning stood at a slight distance, watching everything with curiosity.
Everything in the Netherworld was completely new to her.
She watched as the new souls had their information verified and registered, after which a special mark would appear on them.
Once marked, they were taken to a resting place on the other side to stay for the night.
Souls who could be reincarnated immediately would be scheduled to cross the Rebirth Bridge the next morning. As long as they drank Meng Po Soup, they could be reborn.
But if they weren’t scheduled, they had to stay in Rebirth Valley and wait for their chance.
The Unlucky Soul had been waiting for a while when it was finally his turn to register. Suddenly, a commotion erupted from outside.
"Hiss... It’s a malevolent soul!!!"
The Ghost Cultivators were all shocked and turned to look at the malevolent soul.
Song Wanning also looked over curiously. She saw a man being escorted in by two Ghost Messengers wielding pitchforks. The dense black aura around him was even more terrifying than that of the malevolent souls in the Forget River.
’What kind of heinous deeds did he commit?’
Her heart sank. She had never known much about the affairs of the Mortal World. After all, she was born into a Cultivation Family and had never spent time in the mortal realm.
But the world of mortals was ruled by royalty and was often plagued by constant warfare.
The souls here in the Netherworld must come from all sorts of Small Thousand Realms, not just the Lower World she came from.
"This malevolent soul is radiating killing intent. Just how many people did he kill?"
"His sins are grave. This man will definitely not be able to reincarnate. He can only enter the Eighteen Layers of Hell!"
The Ghost Messengers guided new souls every day, but they rarely encountered a malevolent soul like this, perhaps only a few times a year.
People have their base natures, but it was rare to see someone evil to this degree.
The malevolent soul also felt everyone’s gazes on him at that moment. He lifted a pair of sinister eyes and swept his gaze over the crowd.
Suddenly, his gaze landed on Song Wanning, and a glint appeared in his eyes.
"A beauty!! Bring her over here! Bring her to me at once!!"
The malevolent soul immediately began shouting, habitually using a commanding tone.
As soon as he said this, everyone around him gasped.
The new souls were terrified by the malevolent soul’s status as an emperor, but the surrounding Ghost Messengers were startled by his tone.
’This man has some serious nerve, daring to be disrespectful to a Ghost Cultivator. Is he afraid his suffering won’t be miserable enough?!’
"Why aren’t you moving? Even in death, We are an emperor among ghosts!!"
The malevolent soul maintained his superior attitude, his words filled with anger.
"Hmph, I’ve already made arrangements. After my death, my subordinates will build a golden statue of me, place it in a temple, and have people worship it daily."
"Soon, I will become a Ghost Cultivator and dominate the Netherworld!!!"
The malevolent soul was brimming with confidence, his eyes full of disdain.
’He was an emperor, after all!!!’
’Everyone’s life and death rested on his whim. Who would dare to offend him?’
However, as soon as he said this, the two Ghost Messengers behind him struck him directly on the back with their rods.
"AH—"
The malevolent soul was in so much pain he nearly jumped into the air, screaming incessantly.
"Hmph, you’re in our Netherworld now, and you’re still putting on your old airs?"
"A golden statue? Ptooey!"
The Ghost Messenger felt like he’d just heard the biggest joke. "Some unlucky fool must have been tricked by a wandering Taoist. Even if you built ten golden statues, you’d still have to kneel when you come to our Netherworld!!!"
"HAHAHA—"
The surrounding Ghost Messengers all burst out laughing at this, thinking this malevolent soul was truly overconfident.
"What? How could this be?"
Only then did the malevolent soul realize something was wrong, and his face paled.
"Didn’t they say I could cultivate? I—I was even thinking of cultivating into a Ghost Immortal—"
"I—"
He tried to say more, but the Ghost Messengers behind him hit him a few more times with their rods, and he finally fell silent.
As if all his strength had been drained, he listlessly got in line behind the Unlucky Soul.
The Unlucky Soul finally finished his registration and was standing to the side, not yet far away, when he suddenly heard the malevolent soul let out a heaven-shaking, furious roar.
"What? The Eighteen Layers of Hell? I refuse!"
"I want to reincarnate! I want to reincarnate!"
"AH—"
The rejected malevolent soul lost control and went berserk.
And the Unlucky Soul, truly living up to his name, was so coincidentally knocked into the nearby Forget River by the rampaging malevolent soul.
In that instant, a hush fell over the surroundings.
Even Song Wanning hadn’t expected this. Neither she nor the Ghost Messengers had time to grab the Unlucky Soul, and they could only watch helplessly as he fell in.
"Help!"
The Unlucky Soul screamed in terror, flailing in the water.
His eyes were bloodshot with rage.
He’d been unlucky his whole life, timid and subservient his whole life, and even in death, he was still unlucky!!!
Now that he’d fallen into the Forget River, didn’t that mean he could never reincarnate? That he’d be trapped here forever until his consciousness was devoured?
As he thought about it, sorrow overwhelmed the Unlucky Soul, and he began to sob uncontrollably.
It was as if he was trying to cry out a lifetime of grievances.
The malevolent soul was quickly apprehended, but everyone was at a loss about what to do with the Unlucky Soul.
’Now what are we supposed to do?’
