Villainess Rampage: The Whole Sect Begs for Mercy
Chapter 451 - 457: Meeting the Demon God Again
Jing Hong happily swayed its body. After fawning over Song Wanning for a while, it ran off to play with the Golden Small Sword and the others.
Meanwhile, Song Wanning focused on restoring her Spiritual Power and the spiritual power she had expended. Once she had fully recovered, she put away the Array Plate and resumed her search of the forbidden land.
As this was the ruin of a battlefield, the area was covered in rubble and debris. Even now, there wasn’t the slightest sign of new life.
This was enough to show just how fierce the ancient war had been and what a devastating impact it had left behind.
As Song Wanning walked and surveyed her surroundings, she wondered, ’Has Baili Shang found anything?’
But Baili Shang was destined never to find the Demon God’s origin.
...
A few more days passed, and Song Wanning arrived at a strange place.
Four large stone blocks stood here, arranged in a circle.
In the center of the stones, a strange energy fluctuation ebbed and flowed.
"Sister, I sense a strange fluctuation inside."
"But I can’t make out any details."
The Dragon Spirit said quietly.
It had thought it could finally put its treasure-hunting skills to use, but there were no treasures to be found here.
The only power fluctuation was coming from the area right in front of them.
Song Wanning frowned. She had noticed the strangeness as well.
She picked up a pebble and tossed it toward the center of the circle. The next moment, it vanished.
Her eyes lit up.
’Could there be some kind of Array here?’
"Sister, let me scout it out!"
The Jinghong Sword shot out with a WHOOSH, brimming with the eager energy of a new recruit.
Its body was incredibly durable, making it the perfect vanguard.
"Alright. If you run into any danger, pull back immediately."
Song Wanning nodded, and the Jinghong Sword flew toward the center of the stones.
The moment it entered, the Jinghong Sword vanished from sight, but its voice echoed in her Sea of Consciousness.
"Sister, there’s a Transmission Array in here!"
"Let’s go. We’ll check it out."
Song Wanning spoke to her companions and walked toward the center of the stones.
The moment she stepped through, a wave of dizziness washed over her. She felt the world turn and the stars shift, and when she came to her senses, she was in a new place.
She was in a cave. It was spacious but not at all damp; in fact, it was quite dry.
The surroundings were still barren, but for some reason, Song Wanning felt a sense of kinship with the place the moment she arrived.
It was an odd feeling, as if this place had always been her domain.
’What a strange sensation. Could it be because of the Demon God’s origin inside me?’
Song Wanning’s expression grew solemn. A premonition told her that she might actually be able to meet the Demon God again here.
She walked slowly toward the depths of the cave. The farther she went, the stronger the feeling of kinship became, until she couldn’t help but break into a trot.
After rounding several corners, she finally stopped in a huge stone chamber.
Her gaze fell upon a stone platform in the center of the chamber, where a skeleton lay.
Song Wanning froze. ’Is... is that the Demon God?’
’But during the great ancient war, weren’t the Demon God’s body and soul annihilated, leaving only a wisp of a remnant soul to escape?’
’What’s going on?’
Song Wanning’s heart raced as she cautiously approached the skeleton.
The closer she got, the more a wave of sorrow welled up inside her, overwhelming her uncontrollably.
The corners of her eyes reddened as she moved toward the skeleton, one step at a time.
"Senior Demon God?"
’The Demon God, who was so glorious, heroic, and domineering in life, was reduced to a skeleton lying quietly here after death.’
’How tragic.’
A sudden sadness washed over Song Wanning.
’The Demon God didn’t deserve an ending like this.’
’A favored child of the heavens like her should have achieved immortality and roamed the world freely.’
Lowering her gaze, Song Wanning stared at the skeleton for a long time. Then, she knelt and kowtowed three times respectfully.
’The Demon God wasn’t my master, but she had saved my life and passed her origin on to me. In that, she was no different from a master.’
’She fully deserves these three bows!’
As she completed her final bow, the skeleton suddenly flashed with light.
The next moment, Song Wanning found herself in a familiar place—the Ancient Battlefield she had visited before.
A lovely young girl sat atop a cliff, smiling at her.
It was the Demon God!
"Senior Demon God?"
Overjoyed, Song Wanning strode toward her.
’I thought I’d never get the chance to see her again!’
"Little one, come here."
The Demon God beckoned to Song Wanning, her eyes full of mirth.
Although she appeared even younger than Song Wanning, she possessed an aura that was impossible to ignore.
Song Wanning hurried over, a wide smile also on her face.
They looked at each other and smiled. It felt as though nothing needed to be said, yet everything had been communicated.
They sat down side-by-side like old friends who had known each other for ages, sharing a unique, unspoken understanding.
"I thought no one would ever gain the acknowledgment of that remnant soul. I never expected to be waiting for you."
For countless years, she had waited in the endless darkness. Just when she had nearly given up hope, Song Wanning had finally arrived.
She was both surprised and delighted.
"I was just lucky,"
Song Wanning said with a smile, her eyes shining brightly.
The Demon God patted her head, a look of affection in her eyes.
Song Wanning suddenly recalled something. "Senior, you’ve misunderstood the Heavenly Dao," she said to the Demon God. "It wasn’t trying to suppress or kill you."
"The Heavenly Dao of another world exploited a loophole to plunder the fortune and resources of the Star Constellation Great World. That’s what caused your downfall!"
The Demon God’s remnant soul in the Lower World had believed the Heavenly Dao was trying to kill her. Now that Song Wanning knew the truth, she felt she had to tell the Demon God.
At the very least, she had to know that the Heavenly Dao had never abandoned its native Cultivators and had been trying to save itself all along.
She expected the Demon God to be shocked, but the other woman’s expression remained calm as she smiled faintly.
"I know."
A nostalgic look appeared in her eyes.
"You know?"
Song Wanning’s eyes widened in astonishment.
"Mm."
The Demon God nodded, her eyes flashing with nostalgia and sorrow.
"I was the one who sent out that wisp of Divine Thought when I was in a desperate situation. I did it to leave a trace of my existence in the world. If it could also find a successor, that would be even better."
"That’s why it was unaware of certain things."
Her expression shifted, and the surrounding scenery changed in an instant.
Song Wanning was once again on the battlefield of the great ancient war. The Demon God stood against many foes, her power awe-inspiring.
She fought her enemies to the death, ending in a state of mutual destruction.
Yet at that critical moment, the Heavenly Dao of the Wood Sculpture Realm had quietly intervened through some unknown means.
