Villainess Charms the Heroine
Chapter 105: First Day of School
Splash...!
A young lady stood in front of a sink inside a bathroom. After splashing water on her face, she clutched the right side of the sink and stared intently into the mirror.
The young lady was simply gorgeous. She had a fierce pair of bright blue eyes that seemed to sparkle like jewels, long eyelashes, flawless skin, and luscious, straight blonde hair that shimmered like gold under the light.
Currently, she had a white cast wrapped around her entire left arm, the one she had broken in the exam, held in place with the help of a sling. She was also wearing a matching set of light blue pyjamas that were covered in small patterns of... knights — each one holding a different stance.
This young lady was Nadia. Nadia Crane.
’First day of school...’
It had been exactly 6 days since the entrance exam, which the academy had been so charitably kind enough to give, so they could have a proper rest before moving to the academy.
Two days ago, she arrived at Orrey Cross, staying at a hotel before moving into the accommodation the very next day.
The accommodation was a very large apartment complex, 5 stories tall, as far as she could tell. The apartment was also extremely luxurious, by her standards, with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and even a living room!
Not once did she feel cramped since moving into this apartment!
’As for laundry, I think there is a communal area for that in the complex.’
After freshening up and finishing her skincare routine, she left the bathroom to go change.
Upon entering her bedroom, she carefully undressed, mindful of her injury. She then withdrew the academy uniform from her closet and laid it on her bed.
Then she frowned slightly at the uniform.
The set consisted of a black blazer with silver trim, embroidered with the academy’s insignia on the right chest—a gold heart with a silver cross over it. A high-quality, buttoned-up white shirt. A black skirt and stockings. Black leather shoes. And a black tie with diagonal stripes of white, blue, and red.
It looked like a decent uniform in her eyes, if not for one thing.
"Ugh..." Nadia pinched the skirt and held it in front of her eyes; her face filled with reluctance and unwillingness.
’A skirt...’ She thought with a dark expression.
She... she wasn’t the biggest fan of skirts, having always preferred pants, as she found skirts to be too revealing and drafty sometimes.
Nadia let out a deep sigh as she began putting on the uniform, struggling heavily due to her broken arm.
During the entire process, her face twitched irritably nonstop. ’Damn old man... he knows that I don’t like skirts, so why did he still order it for me?!’ Her mind then flashed with an image of her uncle flashing her an infuriating smile.
After slipping her right arm through the blazer and the other side over her left shoulder, she stood in front of the mirror and checked herself out.
’It doesn’t look too bad...’ Nadia thought as she turned and twisted her body. Although she disliked wearing the skirt, the uniform was stylish enough to soften her prejudice a little.
She then glanced down at her broken arm and sighed.
With the help of LRM healers/medics, she was able to fully recover from the bruises, cuts, and scrapes she sustained during the exam without any scars or blemishes. Unfortunately, that couldn’t be said for her arm, just yet.
Apparently, it was more beneficial for her body to heal her broken arm on its own. Thus, after a few treatments to realign her broken bones, a cast, and instructions, she was told that it was going to take her at most 2 months to fully recover — depending on how strong her Vitality was.
Nadia then stared at her long hair in the mirror before glancing at her light bluish-grey ribbon on her bedside table.
With an uncertain look, she walked over and picked up her ribbon, then returned to the mirror to try to style her hair.
Unfortunately...
"Ugh..."
’It’s not going to work...’
It was too difficult to do her prized hairstyle with one hand.
Nadia let out a deep sigh of disappointment before looking down at the ribbon in her hand. She had tried to do it herself several times before, but it was clear she was going to need someone’s help if she wanted her usual hairstyle.
’Whatever... it’s just two months. I’ll just leave my hair as is...’
She then walked over to a hanger, which held an academy-provided satchel for her stuff, and left her room, stepping into a small hallway.
Nadia glanced around a bit.
On her side of the hallway were two doors. One obviously led to her room, while the other led to the other bedroom of the apartment. On the other side of the hallway, placed between the two rooms, was the door to the bathroom.
Nadia couldn’t help but glance curiously at the door to the other bedroom as she walked by. Apparently, each apartment would house two students. Unfortunately, since moving here, she hadn’t met or seen her roommate.
’I wonder who it is... definitely a girl, right?’ Nadia doubted the academy would allow people of opposite sexes to room together; it seemed kind of inappropriate to.
Out of curiosity, Nadia backtracked and stopped in front of the door to the other bedroom. Then she held her knuckles towards it, intending to knock before backing away with a reluctant shake of her head.
It was slightly embarrassing to admit, but she wasn’t ever that good when socialising with others, which always led to some kind of misunderstanding.
’Maybe I’ll meet them later...’ She then came to an epiphany. ’But what if she’s still asleep?’
Nadia pulled out her smartphone to check the time.
[8:25 AM]
With a hesitant look, she forced herself to try to get over her introversion.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Hey. Are you awake? My name’s Nadia Crane, your, uhm... roommate for this apartment," Nadia awkwardly introduced herself.
A few seconds then passed...
No answer.
Nadia then pondered what to do. Eventually, despite her hesitance, curiosity got the better of her.
She opened the door into the room, expecting to see someone still asleep, but...
’No one’s here?’
The bedroom was exactly identical to hers. From the bed to the bedside table, to the desk and closet... everything.
Could it be they had already left for the academy? Or could it be she just wasn’t given a roommate?
"..."
Nadia slowly closed the door and entered the living room, which was already furnished with a couch, table, TV, dining table and chairs, etc. It even had a large view into the kitchen, separated by a half wall.
She exited her apartment and entered a floor with four other doors to apartments. She then swiftly took the elevator down and exited the complex, quickly joining a herd of other students walking towards the academy.
Although the herd was by no means small, and the roads were filled with cars and other modes of transport, she still felt the area was empty compared to what she was used to.
’I remember reading somewhere that Orrey Cross was around the size of a small town,’ Nadia hummed inside her head.
She continued to walk along with the herd and soon arrived at a traffic light.
As she waited, she heard someone call out her name.
"Nadia!"
The Heroine looked towards the caller and widened her eyes at who it was.
’It’s her...’
