Chapter 77 Treasure Hunt
Villain Ch 77. Treasure Hunt
Allen felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension as he read through the email from the game developer. He couldn’t help but let out a whistle of amazement at the ingenious idea of the game staff. They had truly outdone themselves this time. The concept of the event was simple yet effective. They were planning an urgent event that sounded like a cross between a treasure hunt and a game of hide and seek. The aim was to entice players to explore the other dungeons. The developer would put ten interesting treasure boxes in Ront’s underground dungeon and another ten treasure boxes in the Gorroc desert sand pit.
Nine of them contained potions and needs for hunting players and one was a jackpot that contained a +7 basic armor that could be used by all professions. It was something rare since upgrading armor and weapons, aside from the important raw materials and the equipment, failure could destroy the armor itself. Still, it was basic armor, it was only good in the early game so it wouldn’t affect the late game or even mid-game. Also, he could say that the game developer was smart enough to choose armor instead of weapons. It would be useful for protecting the players and reducing the potions consumption without affecting their leveling speed too much.
The treasure boxes themselves would move randomly every 5 minutes. None of them would know where, both players and him.
It was Allen and his team that would guard the treasures and of course, their mission was to kill as many players as possible. But rather than something similar to the first event, the dungeon NPC would provide an item that the players could use to hide for 8 seconds.
Nothing could detect them when the players use them, except for sound. The players also couldn’t attack them as long as they were using that item. So, the only thing players could do was run. The item would disappear after the event finished.
There were two events in total and each event lasted 15 minutes each. There was no penalty whatsoever if Allen and the others couldn’t defend the treasure boxes. Since the game developer’s goal was to lure players into those two dungeons. Most importantly, what counted was how many players they could kill. It would increase their EXP and just like today’s daily quest, they had a minimum quota that they must fill and this would be more than before. Which meant, another challenge for them.
Well, that was no problem for him since this event would take place tonight, so⦠there would be more players than this afternoon.
But for sure, with the introduction of this event, Allen was sure that the other dungeons would soon become just as popular as Ilude’s Underwater dungeon. At least the overcrowded players there would be dismissed.
A statement whether he wanted to join and the choice of ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, was at the end of the email. And of course, he chose yes without hesitation. This was another exciting quest after all and he bet he would have fun. Likewise with the girls.
After the screen showed a ‘thank you’ message, Allen’s eyes flickered over the email one last time before he swiped his thumb across his phone’s screen to close it. Without another moment’s hesitation, he switched over to the group chat app, his fingers already moving to type out his answer.
Allen: I’m in, guys!
Bella: Then are we going to gather at the portal room five minutes before the event?
Allen: Ten minutes. Make sure to distribute all status and skill points.
They couldn’t use any potions during the events, so dead means dead. The event would test his skills as the game villain and his ability to work as part of a team. He knew that the game developer had given their team an advantage, with status and skills that far surpassed the other players. They were chosen for a reason – to fight against other players. It was a simple equation of quality versus quantity.
Alice: Roger that, Daddy.
He couldn’t help but look at his phone with a flat stare.
‘What’s with that ‘daddy’ thing?’ he thought. But Alice and Bella had already mentioned that yesterday, so he wouldn’t mention it again.
Allen: Have you two done today’s daily quest yet?
Bella: We did. With Jane. And Larissa joined us in the last minutes, right when we had almost started our hunt. We are taking a break now and having dinner.
Alice: Jane was looking for you this afternoon. She said she wanted to thank you or something.
He immediately realized it should be about what happened this morning.
Allen: Where is she now?
Alice: She is still grinding in the Tower of Power.
Allen: 1st floor? ππππππ‘.ππ€π
Alice: Yup. She said that she wanted to catch up to your level.
Allen: Well, good to hear her. All right then. I will grab my dinner and will be online in thirty minutes.
He took a deep breath and put down his phone, closing the screen with a soft click. His mind was still racing with excitement for the upcoming event, but his stomach grumbled in protest at the thought of neglecting it any longer. He needed to eat something quickly.
Getting up from his chair, he made his way to the kitchen to the fridge and pulled it open, the cold air rushing out to greet him.
He scanned the contents of the fridge, searching for something to satisfy his hunger and fast food. He didn’t have much time. After a moment of deliberation, he settled on making a simple dish. He pulled out a small bag of chicken marinate from the fridge, filled a bowl with hot water, and placed the silicon bag in it to thaw it faster. As he waited, he prepared his air fried mini potatoes
But as he cooked, his thoughts were on the upcoming event. ‘I can’t wait for the eventβ¦’
