Chapter 624: Twisted Romeo
Villain Ch 624. Twisted Romeo
Taking the dismissal cue, Noah, James, and Mila moved reluctantly toward the exit. But Noah paused on the threshold, his gaze boring into Allen’s. “You intrigue me, Allen – I’ll give you that. I can’t yet decide if you’re friend or foe to MagicSword’s vision.” He smiled tightly. “But either way, I look forward to crossing swords with you again.”
Allen’s answering shark smile held no warmth. “Likewise. Do give Sophia and Elio my regards. And just for your information, I have the CCTV footage so please don’t pull out any dramatic action again. It could be fatal if the police get it,” he reminded them. Allen felt bad for Mila.
It was the same as blackmailing them. But he had to make this statement to ensure they wouldn’t do the same thing again in the future.
That statement made Mila shiver. She knew it was her fault. She even could feel James and Noah blaming gazes at her.
With a final long look weighted by unvoiced agendas, Noah swept out, James on his heel and Mila tailed them. The door closed firmly, Allen’s smiling mask instantly dissolving into pensive gravity. “I feel bad for Mila,” he stated with a huff. But although Vivian didn’t say anything, he shared the same sentiment with her. Mila could be a spy.
Or even though Mila’s love confession was real and her feelings were pure, he was sure Noah and James would use her to spy on him. That intention was clear from how James pushed her to Allen without hesitation once he knew Mila’s feelings.
’It feels like a modern Romeo and Juliet story,’ he thought ironically. The difference, this Romeo was twisted and had a harem.
Vivian turned anxious eyes up to him. “They clearly have their eyes on you. What will you do now?”
Allen paced to the window, gazing out over the window without truly seeing it. “I need to report this to my father and be more careful. They might do this again in the future,” he mused. He needed to tread this carefully since this was a new thing for him. If he was just a player like before, this meant nothing.
Yes, it was a business competition, but it wouldn’t affect him if he was just a pro gamer like he used to. But with his current status, he needed to act differently.
He turned to Vivian, averting his gaze from the window. “You also have to be careful,” he warned in a casual tone, his eyes locking onto Vivian’s.
Vivian frowned, her perfectly arched eyebrows knitting together. “Your ’be careful’ doesn’t sound serious,” she commented, her voice dripping with skepticism.
Allen chuckled and leaned back into his seat, the leather creaking beneath him. “Well— They already know we have the CCTV footage. It could at least damage their Company’s reputation if the police got it. They will think twice about doing it again,” he stated, a sly grin playing on his lips.
Vivian smirked, a glint of mischief in her eyes. She knew Allen was right. The footage they had gathered was a powerful card to play in this high-stakes game of corporate rivalry. “And what about Mila? It seems you have a soft spot for her. You even stopped me from making her jealous,” Vivian stated, her tone tinged with curiosity.
Allen sighed, his eyes narrowing in thought. “I do,” he admitted with a huff. “In my opinion, Mila is a simple girl, a fan of mine, who was drawn into a complicated web of business competition between two companies.” He leaned forward, his fingers tapping on the table absentmindedly.
Allen suspected that MagicSword Interactive might be fishing for weaknesses in Hell’s Gate to bring down the game’s popularity or seeking information about what made the game so beloved. James and Noah had dropped hints about the A.I and the devil emperor, making Allen certain they were after those details.
Another huff escaped Allen’s lips, his frustration palpable. “Well, Mila might also have an obsession though. Because she has also investigated my family background. It’s just not as bad as Sophia,” he concluded, a note of exasperation in his voice.
Vivian leaned back, a smirk playing on her lips. “She’s not as bad as Sophia YET,” she emphasized, her eyes narrowing playfully.
Allen chuckled again, the tension in the room dissipating. “True. I hope she doesn’t jump to that side,” he mused, a glimmer of concern in his eyes.
Meanwhile, Mila, her face clouded with gloom, discreetly followed Noah and James out of the café. Their conversation with Allen lingered in her mind like an unwelcome guest. The bitter taste of disappointment clung to her tongue, mixed with the regret of her own actions that had led to this point.
Her heart felt heavy. The backdrop seemed to mirror the chaos in her thoughts. Mila had been in love with Allen, a genuine affection that now felt tainted by the company’s ulterior motives. Noah and James had laid bare the harsh truth. They didn’t care about her feelings. Their heads were only filled with their corporate chess game.
Mila’s steps quickened, attempting to keep pace with the two men who were now getting into a sleek, black car. As she neared, she caught snippets of their conversation, a bitter reminder of the professional motives overshadowing any personal connection. Noah’s voice carried, discussing strategies and plans, the cold pragmatism of business stripping away any romantic illusions Mila once held.
James, too, spoke with a detached demeanor that grated against her tender emotions. It was like witnessing the dismantling of a dream, piece by piece.
Mila hesitated, her hand resting on the cold surface of the car door. Mixed emotions churned within her—a cocktail of love, disappointment, and self-blame. Her failed kidnapping attempt had not only endangered herself but had set off a chain of events that now threatened to destroy everything she held dear.
The engine roared to life, drowning out the turmoil in Mila’s mind. She got inside the car. Her mind was still busy. But then, James’ voice made her come back to reality. “But I think Allen has a soft spot for Mila,” he stated.
