Chapter 615 Conundrum

Villain Ch 615. Conundrum

The confusion played out vividly in Allen’s furrowed brows and the subtle tightening of his jaw. His thoughts danced between disbelief and curiosity, trying to unravel the mystery that now unfolded in the lobby. His mother, Carla, wanted to meet him privately—such a notion seemed surreal.

Allen’s phone remained conspicuously silent. No texts, no missed calls from his mother. The absence of any prior communication heightened his skepticism. He hadn’t mentioned his modeling endeavor to his family, and the fact that the security personnel correctly named his mother only deepened the perplexity.

His dilemma was etched in the subtle creases on his forehead. Why would his mother request a meeting here, and how did she even know he was at the agency? The secrecy surrounding his modeling gig collided with the unexpected appearance of his mother, a conundrum that left Allen in a state of mild disbelief.

The man nodded, firm in his response. “Yes, she specifically asked for Allen Grayblight. Said it was urgent and wanted to see you immediately. She’s waiting at the entrance.” 𝑓𝓌𝘯ℴ𝑣.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Vivian, sensing Allen’s unease, offered her support. “Do you want me to come with you? I mean, it sounds urgent, and I don’t want you to face anything alone.”

The man, however, interjected, “I’m sorry, ma’am, but Mrs. Grayblight requested a private meeting with Mr. Allen. She insisted it be just the two of them.”

Allen’s mind churned with conflicting emotions. The urgency of his mother’s request, combined with the desire for privacy, triggered a war within him. It wasn’t just about the unexpected nature of the meeting but the realization that this broke from the usual routines his family adhered to.

“Did she come alone?” Allen probed, cautious about the peculiarities of the situation. His mother, a traditional wife, rarely ventured out without her husband or his approval.

The man hesitated for a moment, then replied, “She mentioned she came with your little brother, Evan. He’s in the car, she said.”

Allen’s internal alarm bells rang louder. The mention of Evan, his little brother, added another layer of complexity to the scenario. If this were a genuine family matter, why the secrecy and urgency?

Trying to tread carefully, Allen continued, “Did you see Evan?”

The man shook his head.

“So you didn’t see him, and she only mentioned his name?” Allen made sure.

The man nodded, seemingly unaware of the nuances of Allen’s internal dilemma. “Yes, she said he’s waiting in the car. Mrs. Grayblight was insistent on speaking with you privately, sir.”

The conundrum deepened, and Allen’s hesitation hung in the air like a palpable tension. A part of him felt compelled to heed his mother’s request, to unravel the mystery she presented. Yet, the other part, tinged with suspicion, hesitated to walk into a situation that seemed more enigmatic than familial.

Vivian, recognizing the gravity of the situation, placed a supportive hand on Allen’s shoulder. “Whatever you decide, Allen, I’m here for you. Just let me know.”

Allen, caught in the web of conflicting emotions and unanswered questions, took a deep breath. He weighed the urgency, the unconventional request, and the lingering doubt about the authenticity of this summons from his mother. The decision rested on the edge of his tongue, the next words determining whether he would step into the unknown or tread cautiously around a potential trap.

The internal struggle within Allen was palpable as he weighed the urgency of his mother’s request against the unsettling mystery that shrouded it. After a moment of contemplation, he decided he couldn’t ignore it without at least checking it out.

“Okay,” Allen finally nodded, his expression a mix of concern and determination. “I’ll go see what this is about,” he added, his gaze locking onto the security staff’s name tag, just to make sure he was the real security, verifying its authenticity. The man had indeed been present during Allen’s previous visits to the building, lending credibility to his role. Also, he would do this in public areas. No secluded spots, no consumables, and no items to take. Just to be cautious.

Allen glanced towards Vivian. In a situation shrouded in uncertainty, he wanted an ally nearby. “Can you watch from afar?” Allen asked Vivian, a mix of gratitude and a sense of responsibility underlying his request. A request for her assistance in monitoring the situation, he also made it clear that she should maintain a safe distance

Vivian, quick to pick up on the gravity of the situation, responded with a resolute nod. “Absolutely. I’ve got your back, Allen. Just be careful, okay?”

Allen offered a faint smile, appreciating Vivian’s willingness to support him in this murky affair. “Thanks, Vivian. I will.” There was an unspoken agreement between them—an understanding that Vivian would be the silent watcher, the safety net should things take an unexpected turn.

“Let’s see her,” Allen affirmed, turning to Vivian one last time.

“Follow me,” the man instructed, and Allen fell into step behind him. Vivian trailed discreetly, maintaining a careful distance that masked any connection between them. The trio moved through the building’s bustling areas.

The caution in Allen’s steps was evident. Allen’s dilemma echoed in every cautious step he took, a dance between curiosity and skepticism. His eyes darted around, ensuring they remained in plain view of others. No secluded corners, no hidden agendas. He couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling that this might be some elaborate ruse, yet the son in him compelled him forward.

Vivian, while keeping her distance, maintained a vigilant watch. Her concern for Allen was evident in the way her eyes followed their progress. She had become a silent guardian, ready to intervene if the need arose.

Once they reached the building’s entrance, Allen braced himself for the encounter with his mother. But they found the entrance unusually vacant. Perplexed, Allen and the security staff exchanged bewildered glances, scanning the area for any sign of Carla.

A second later, a sudden hum of an approaching engine drew their attention. A sleek, black car glided towards them, slowing to a stop right in front of the entrance. The vehicle was unfamiliar to Allen.
