Chapter 305 Writing And Gossiping Are Two Different Things
Villain Ch 305. Writing And Gossiping Are Two Different Things
Once Allen’s voice echoed in the throne hall, the group gasped in surprise, their conversation abruptly coming to a halt. They turned to him awkwardly, feeling caught off guard by his sudden appearance.
Allen came to a stop, his eyes sweeping from one face to another, gauging their reactions. “Did I interrupt something?” he asked, his voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty. 𝘦𝘯.𝘰𝘳𝘨
“No, not at all,” Larissa hurriedly assured him, trying to mask her previous conversation with a smile.
“Yeah, we were just… uh… talking about the upcoming raid,” Zoe chimed in, her attempt to sound casual coming across a bit too forced.
Vivian quickly joined in, eager to change the subject. “Right! So, what brings you here, Allen? Is there something you want to talk about?” she asked, trying to maintain a cheerful tone.
“Did you meet Sophia or Elio on your way home?” Jane threw out a random guess.
“Yeah, I did meet them,” Allen confirmed, causing the girls to lean in with interest. But before they could delve into any juicy details, he quickly clarified, “But that’s not what I want to discuss.”
Allen’s expression turned serious, his sense of urgency evident in his voice. “The players managed to beat my doppelganger within twelve hours!” he exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief. “Can you believe that?” he added, clearly astounded by the turn of events. It was a long ongoing event starting from last night. It was an idle event for them but they still gained EXP from it.
The event was centered around defeating boss monsters and minions strategically placed in a grand lighthouse located at Berlt Harbour. Allen and his companions, each of them contributed with their own minions.
Allen decided to place his Doppelganger on the last floor of the lighthouse. The incentive for players to take on this daunting challenge was enticing—a VVIP mysterious box that could reveal rare to epic items or equipment awaited those who managed to defeat the Doppelganger. The lighthouse would disappear once the Doppelganger was defeated.
Entering the event was no walk in the park. Each time they ventured into the lighthouse, only a limited number of fifty participants were allowed, making it a highly sought-after opportunity. The stakes were high, and players were determined to give their best shot at victory. However, the event was designed to test their skills and endurance; the monster’s and minions’ HP would reset to normal after the participants lose.
“Moreover.” He summoned his screen menu, displaying a list of players who had managed to deal significant damage to the Doppelganger, along with their guild names. His eyes narrowed as he spotted an unfamiliar name—BattleGoddess. “This is a solo player, yet she’s dealing the most damage to the Doppelganger.” Allen’s curiosity was piqued. In a world where guilds and alliances held immense power, it was rare for a solo player to achieve such a feat.
As he scanned the rest of the list, he couldn’t help but notice the renowned guild names like Celestial Vanguard, Ironclad Legion, Game of Groans, and Order of Valiance. This fact surprised him, as he had expected the best guilds to dominate the damage. But BattleGoddess’s performance was a revelation, shaking the established hierarchy of this virtual world.
Curiosity got the best of Allen. He leaned and exchanged glances with his companions. “I’ve never heard of this name before,” he admitted, his voice tinged with intrigue. “Have any of you?” he asked, hoping that someone could shed light on the mystery behind BattleGoddess’s skills.
But rather than that, the girls were captivated by the real-life encounter Allen had with Sophia and Elio. Their curiosity was piqued, and they eagerly leaned in, their virtual faces reflecting their interest.
“Wait, you actually met Sophia and Elio?” Jane’s eyes widened in amazement, her virtual eyebrows shooting up to her hairline. She never expected her random guess to be so spot-on.
“Yeah, it was a chance encounter after I bought the magazine,” Allen replied, his tone casual yet tinged with a hint of excitement. He turned to Vivian, feeling a bit guilty for not responding to her earlier message. “I was about to reply to you, but then I saw Sophia and things got a bit hectic. Sorry about that,” he said, offering a sheepish smile.
“What happened? C’mon, spill the beans!” Larissa urged, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. She was always the one eager for juicy gossip, and this was the perfect opportunity to satiate her curiosity.
“Uh… Don’t you think this matter is more important than that?” Allen pointed at the hologram screen displaying the player list once more, trying to steer the conversation back to the curious case of BattleGoddess.
But the girls were not so easily swayed. They were more interested in the real-life drama unfolding between Sophia, Elio, and Allen. It was like a soap opera, and they wanted all the details.
“BattleGoddess, right? I know her. I’ll tell you about her later. Tell us about Elio and Sophia first. I’m dying to know!” Shea interjected with excitement, her virtual eyes shining with anticipation.
“You sure seem to know a lot, Shea,” Allen remarked, raising an eyebrow at her.
Shea grinned mischievously. “Hey, networks are powerful weapons, you know. You’d be amazed at what information you can find with just a few connections.”
“Well, I don’t think this accident is important. We simply accidentally met. Sophia asked to come back, and I refused. I left. Elio chased after me. We argued, and somehow, I managed to trick him and left him,” Allen gave a nonchalant summary of the encounter.
The girls looked at him with a mix of disappointment and disbelief. Zoe was the first to voice their collective sentiment, “That’s it? That’s all that happened?”
Allen shrugged, “Yep, that’s pretty much it.”
“You’re a writer, right? How can you make such a dramatic situation sound so flat? That doesn’t sound like juicy gossip at all,” Larissa complained, her arms crossed in mock annoyance.
“Writing and gossiping are two different things,” Allen reasoned, trying to justify the lackluster narration.
“Ugh, you’re no fun!” Larissa huffed, rolling her eyes.
“So, she simply came to you again?” Vivian reiterated, trying to get all the facts straight.
“Yeah, exactly,” Allen confirmed with a slight nod. “I don’t think she’ll give up anytime soon. I made it pretty clear that I’m not interested in getting back together with her.”
“You really don’t want to go back to her?” Zoe inquired, her curiosity piqued.
Allen’s face hardened as he shook his head. “No way. Once a traitor, always a traitor. There’s no such thing as a second chance for someone who betrayed me like she did,” he said firmly.
