Chapter 1782: Quack
Chapter 1782: Quack
Villain Ch 1782. Quack
Allen barely had time to react before—
-SNAP!
Suddenly—
Duck costumes.
Full-body, ridiculous, fluffy, waddling duck costumes.
Allen’s jaw dropped. “I can’t decide if this is better or worse.”
Jane waddled in place, then flapped one of her oversized felt wings. “Quack. Daddy.”
Vivian looked down at her giant orange duck feet, then up at Allen. “I feel… humiliated. And I’m still kind of into it.”
Larissa’s eye twitched. “If I get one single feather in my mouth, someone dies.”
Shea laughed so hard she had to sit down. “Okay, okay, Kafra wins. Kafra wins.”
Zoe pointed at Allen. “You’re the Emperor of Ducks now.”
Vivian added, “Quack for us, Emperor.”
Jane flapped again. “You still look hot. Even in duck form.”
Vivian leaned against him, massive wing and all. “Wanna ruffle my feathers?”
Bella sighed. “If this is a dream, I don’t wanna wake up.”
Allen tilted his head back, stared at the cracked gothic ceiling of the Crypts, and let the absurdity of his life soak in like a fever dream dipped in glitter, madness, and duck fluff.
“…Oh God,” he muttered.
“Quack,” said Jane solemnly.
Allen felt so done.
He slowly slid down the nearest obsidian pillar, knees drawn up, feathered costume rustling like a dying goose as his chin dropped into his palm.
Then—
“WAIT! WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!!”
Kafra’s voice blasted in again, shrill with panic.
“I FORGOT TO—AHHH—JUST STAY STILL!”
-SNAP!
The feathers vanished in a puff of pixelated fluff. Armor clanked into place, textures reloaded, capes flared. In a blink, the team was back in full combat gear—belts, gauntlets. No duck heads. No weird orange feet.
“…Oh,” Jane said quietly, looking down at her now re-materialized chestplate. “No more duck costumes.”
She actually sounded disappointed.
Kafra’s tone was fast, clipped, definitely trying to make a clean exit.
“Okay thank you for your work bye!”
Alice called out, deadpan as ever, “You haven’t said a thing about Allen’s abs.”
There was a beat of silence. Then a choked noise.
Allen groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “My head hurts.”
“Your ego doesn’t,” Vivian muttered, smirking.
Shea laughed, hands on her hips. “Well, since this is all settled and we’re finally clothed—” she shot a glance at Allen’s midsection just to make him twitch “—wanna grind more?”
Allen raised an eyebrow. “Like… a real grind?”
She nodded. “Yeah. Before wasn’t grinding. That was survival horror with a bonus trauma arc.”
Larissa crossed her arms, sighing like someone just reminded her of unpaid taxes. “It did feel like survival,” she muttered. “No enjoyment. Just rage. Like someone coded the entire thing to spite us. That wasn’t a game. That was a passive-aggressive breakup in digital form.”
“Or Kafra’s way of coping with unresolved thirst,” Zoe added helpfully.
“Also that,” Larissa said dryly.
Allen rubbed his temples. “Let’s hit something real. Maybe a field instead of a dungeon. Quick run. Something with a decent storyline so I don’t feel like I wasted my life again.”
Vivian flopped into the nearest blood-red lounge chair conjured just for her and stretched like a cat. “Yeah, we need it. A story quest might help neutralize all this…” She gestured vaguely at the room, as if the duck trauma still lingered in the air. “Cleanse the palate.”
Zoe snapped her fingers. “Something open field, not cramped hallways. I swear, if I see another corridor, I’ll impale myself on my own tentacle.”
Allen didn’t respond right away. He just stood slowly, adjusting his gauntlets, eyes scanning the mission list that shimmered in his HUD like floating parchment.
Something clicked. A title.
[Side Quest: The Fallen Warden of Blackpike Fields]
Location: Open world region.
Tags: Exploration, Lore, Optional Boss Encounter.
Rewards: Relic-tier drop + Companion Affection Increase
Allen tilted his head, interest sparking. “Alright. I found one. Blackpike Fields. There’s a storyline involving an old warden turned outlaw. Optional boss fight. Reward includes rare relic drop and…” He paused. “…Companion affection boost.”
Every girl in the room turned toward him. Slowly.
Vivian’s smile was predatory. “Did you say affection?”
Jane clapped once. “We’re going.”
Shea pointed. “That’s real grinding.”
Larissa’s eyes narrowed. “I want the relic. And the affection boost. Don’t get in my way.”
Zoe cracked her knuckles. “Field fights are my thing anyway. Big space. No rooms.”
Allen arched a brow. “Why do I feel like I’m the one getting grinded?”
Alice, finally standing from her spot near the corner, raised a single hand. “Because you are.”
“Emperor Problems,” Vivian whispered, eyes twinkling. “So tragic.”
Allen didn’t even fight it this time. He rolled his neck, selected the quest, and triggered the team sync.
A blue sigil opened beneath their feet, glowing with arcane lines like frost patterns on a mirror. The hum of teleport magic swelled in the air, subtle at first, then roaring like a hurricane.
Jane grabbed Allen’s hand just before they vanished. “This time, if you strip, I’m joining you.”
Allen gave her a flat look. “Don’t you always?”
-FLASH!
They reappeared mid-air.
Wind whipped around them.
The Crypts vanished, replaced by a sweeping open landscape of obsidian meadows and sharp, skeletal trees. Blackpike Fields. Dark grass swayed under a copper-hued sky. Strange birds wheeled overhead, cawing in unnatural rhythms.
Ruins of a fallen tower loomed ahead in the distance—half-swallowed by time, moss, and shadow.
Zoe stepped out first, eyes scanning the horizon. “Okay. I like this already. I don’t smell glitter. Or feathers.”
Vivian inhaled deeply, voice almost reverent. “It smells like… actual gameplay.”
Allen drew his blade, letting the wind run along the edge. “Let’s make it count, then.”
Jane nudged him with her hip, grinning. “You gonna tank for us, Santa Baby?”
“No Santa jokes,” he said, dead serious. “Or I’m logging off.”
Shea elbowed him. “Fine. But if you die, I’m writing ‘He Sleighed Too Hard’ on your gravestone.”
Allen exhaled a deep breath.
But the wind caught his cape as he walked forward, and the girls followed like wolves on a hunt.
