Chapter 1776: The Golden Boy

Chapter 1776: The Golden Boy

Villain Ch 1776. The Golden Boy

Allen’s focus, though, stayed locked on his own double.

The Devil Emperor clone didn’t attack immediately. He just stood there, sword still sheathed, watching Allen with an expression that was equal parts challenge and disdain.

“You could’ve been anyone,” the hacker said through his mouth. “But you had to be this. The golden boy of the devs’ little story. The chosen one.”

Allen rolled his shoulders, one hand tightening around his blade hilt. “I didn’t choose it. I just made it look better than you could.”

The clone’s eyes flared red. “Then let’s see if you can keep up without your fan club.”

It moved—

And the world blurred.

Steel shrieked against steel as the clone’s blade came free in a flash, aimed straight for Allen’s throat.

Allen parried, the impact sending a shockwave through the chamber that made the ice spires groan and crack.

The clone fought like him. Every move, every shift in stance—it was like fighting his own reflection.

But Allen had one advantage the hacker didn’t.

This wasn’t just muscle memory. This was his.

Every angle. Every twitch of his wrist. Every micro-shift in his footing.

The way his blade moved wasn’t learned—it was lived. It was written into his bones.

Allen shoved forward, Demonic Aura flaring like a black sun around him.

The temperature dropped instantly, the edges of his vision warping as shadows thickened in the corners.

[Your attack and defense have increased by 250%]

[You have decreased enemies’ attack and defense by 50% within a 10-meter radius]

[Countdown: 15 minutes.]

The hacker didn’t flinch—his own aura roared to life in the exact same shade of abyssal fire, the two of them pressed together in a standoff that felt like it could crush the entire arena.

Allen’s teeth ground together. He could feel the hacker pushing against him—not just physically, but through the avatar’s systems, like he was trying to wrestle the controls themselves.

“Feels good, doesn’t it?” the hacker’s voice came, dark and mocking from his own mouth. “That power. That pressure. Knowing everyone else in the room’s just noise compared to us.”

Allen bared his teeth. “The difference is—I earned mine.”

They broke. Both moved at once—shadows and frost scattering as they blurred apart, only to collide again in a brutal flurry of strikes. Allen slipped into Shadow Step mid-swing, his body vanishing into an afterimage that darted behind the clone.

‘Void Mirage!’

The hacker’s sword cut through the mirage, steel tearing through the false Allen’s torso—only for it to explode in a concussive burst of shadow. The blast staggered the clone half a step, and that half step was all Allen needed.

He was there, his real self already in motion, blade arcing in a vicious, upward kill-swipe toward the hacker’s exposed flank.

The Devil Emperor clone twisted at the last possible second—reflexes so sharp they were almost painful to watch—but he wasn’t fast enough to escape clean.

Allen’s blade slashed across the side of his armor, biting deep into the plates before it carved through to flesh.

Black ichor splattered against the frost, hissing where it hit the ground, steam curling upward in twisting shapes. The wound wasn’t deep enough to cripple—but it was enough to mark him. Enough to prove Allen had the edge.

The clone’s eyes—Allen’s own eyes, but filled with someone else’s venom—narrowed to slits.

“You’re going to regret that,” the hacker growled through the avatar’s mouth, voice low and electric with fury.

The clone spun into a low slash, vicious enough that the air itself seemed to split. Allen leapt back just as the ground where he’d been standing cracked under the sheer force, shards of frost spraying upward like jagged teeth.

Around them, the fight was chaos—Zoe’s kraken tentacles slamming into her duplicate’s water walls, every impact sending geysers high enough to mist the air.

Bella and her copy turned the entire left side of the arena into a strobing hellstorm of lightning and ice, the light so blinding it seared Allen’s peripheral vision.

Jane’s undead clashed with her clone’s skeleton army in a relentless grind of bone against bone… until the hacker’s voice sharpened, slicing through the cacophony like a blade.

“Thanks for the donation.”

Allen’s eyes flicked over just in time to see the Devil Emperor clone raise a gauntleted hand.

“Soul Siphon!”

The nearest skeleton—one of Jane’s—burst into a cloud of black and red particles, streaking toward the clone. It hit him like a pulse of dark lightning, seeping into his armor, and Allen saw the faint shimmer of his HP ticking upward.

He didn’t just use it once.

One by one, the hacker tore the soul-energy from Jane’s undead army, ripping away her resources and feeding himself.

Jane cursed. “You parasite—!”

Allen didn’t waste breath. He surged forward again, his own blade singing through the cold air. The hacker matched him strike for strike—every parry ringing like an execution bell.

The sound, the vibration through the hilt, the reek of demonic magic tearing at the frost—it all layered into the same oppressive rhythm. Allen could taste iron in the air. His lungs burned from the exertion, not from weakness but from the sheer demand of matching himself blow for blow.

The chamber wasn’t big enough for this. Every step left cracks in the ice, the steel underlayer beneath buckling from the repeated impact of their footwork.

“You’re fast,” the hacker said between strikes, grinning with Allen’s teeth.

Allen’s voice was ice. “You’re sloppy.”

The hacker laughed, the sound sharp and mean, then cut low. Allen read it a half-second ahead and countered with Telekinesis Blast, shoving him back with an invisible wave of force.

The clone’s boots carved furrows in the frost before he caught himself, armor hissing as the aura around him flared hotter.

“You’re not the only one with tricks,” the hacker said, and Allen felt the change before he saw it. The pressure in the air doubled, like the oxygen itself was burning.
