Chapter 60 Meeting
“When is this meeting?” Fen Shuying asked impatiently.
“Tomorrow afternoon. The site of this meeting is in that old outpost in the west of the Mellow Magnolia Woods. It is near the Thundering Hemlock Woods and can be considered a zone beyond our respective regions. It will be the perfect site for the meeting.”
“…Alright. When do we depart?” Fen Shuying asked.
“Tomorrow morning,” Wang Jian spoke.
The two talked for a bit more before Wang Jian left the estate. 𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝘭.𝘦𝑡

The next day, both parties arrived at the outpost.
Wang Jian and Fen Shuying were accompanied by twenty guards, while Han Xifeng had brought ten loyal subordinates along with her.
They met in the main hall of the outpost before Wang Jian ordered the guards, “Leave. This will be an important discussion.”
Han Xifeng gave the same order to her subordinates.
Her subordinates were rather hesitant to leave her in a room with Wang Jian, but they figured that Fen Shuying wouldn’t let anything happen to their mistress as both were Lin Feng’s women.
After everyone else had left, Wang Jian opened the meeting by addressing Han Xifeng, “Miss Han, you mentioned that you know the truth about Mister Fen’s death. Would you please enlighten us?”
Han Xifeng turned to Fen Shuying and responded, “Haven’t you heard? The state of the corpses should be enough evidence to identify the culprit.”
Fen Shuying replied calmly, “I cannot believe that Brother Feng would be responsible for my father’s death. There must be some mistake. Please explain it to us.”
With a dark chuckle, Han Xifeng revealed the truth, “There is no mistake, Shuying. It was indeed Brother Feng who killed Mister Fen.”
Fen Shuying was shocked and stuttered, “W-what?”
“To help you understand, let me explain,” Han Xifeng continued, “Your father did many things that deeply hurt and angered Brother Feng. His betrayal of my tribe was a great disappointment and a source of anger for Brother Feng. He was further infuriated by your father’s announcement of an alliance with Wang Jian.”
At the mention of his name, Wang Jian’s face broke into a smile.
Fen Shuying was still reeling in shock as she tried to process the revelation. “Brother Feng killed my father for these reasons?” she repeated in disbelief.
“A few days after announcing his alliance with Wang Jian, your father set up a camp near our lair and invited Brother Feng for a meeting. I don’t exactly know what went wrong in the meeting as he refused to give me details, but Brother Feng was infuriated enough to attack your father. You know what happened after that,” Han Xifeng concluded the story.
As Han Xifeng spoke, Fen Shuying’s memory was jolted by the note she had found near her father’s canvas.
Realization dawned on her as she thought, ‘It must have been during that meeting that Brother Feng discovered my father’s secret collaboration with Wang Jian. That means someone within our clan is aware of the secret and has leaked it to me and then to Brother Feng.’
Fen Shuying was seething with anger towards the traitor in her midst. But her anger wasn’t solely directed at the informant; she was also beginning to feel a growing resentment towards Lin Feng.
‘How could he have acted so recklessly?’ She fumed as she thought about it.
‘He attacked my father without even verifying the truth of that letter! He didn’t even think to inform me, his fiancé, of what was going on! He didn’t even consider how this would impact my clan’s future!’
‘I was a fool to ever trust him,’ she thought, her eyes flashing with anger. ‘I gave him my love and my loyalty, and he repaid me with this?!”
Her mind whirled with dark thoughts as she imagined the various ways she could make him pay for his actions. She vowed, her eyes flashing with a fierce intensity, ‘I will show him no mercy, no pity. He will suffer for what he’s done, and I will relish every moment of it.’
Wang Jian could easily read her thoughts by the look on her face. He gazed at Han Xifeng and nodded slightly. It was time to wrap up this meeting.
At this moment, Wang Jian’s guards suddenly barged inside and spoke, “Your Highness. We saw these women plant suspicious thyme around the outpost.”
Wang Jian raised his brow upon hearing those words. He looked in Han Xifeng’s direction and noticed she was smiling.
Before Wang Jian could realize the meaning behind that smile, the entire outpost shook with a violent tremor that sent everyone staggering to maintain their balance.
In a sudden burst of motion, Han Xifeng bolted out of the door with her subordinates, leaving the outpost in haste.
“What is going on?” Fen Shuying wondered aloud as she struggled to maintain her balance.
Wang Jian’s sharp eye caught Han Xifeng’s movements, and he realized what was happening. A chilling smirk slowly crept onto his lips as he savored the unfolding of events.
‘What an interesting development… It appears that this woman purposely selected this outpost for the meeting due to its proximity to the Thundering Hemlock Woods, where she could utilize her herb to attract the nearby beasts and initiate a beast horde. She wants to kill the two of us. Is it to preserve her secret? Most likely.’
‘However, isn’t she too foolish? She knows that I am a Lord Realm expert, and even dozens of Origin Realm Beasts would never harm m-‘ Wang Jian’s thoughts were interrupted as he heard a deafening howl.
This howl wasn’t just sound, and it was also infused with powerful Qi. Powerful Qi that could only belong to a Lord Realm Beast.
“…We need to leave immediately!” Fen Shuying shouted.
Wang Jian nodded his head as he spoke, “Grab my hand. My speed is much greater than yours.”
Fen Shuying had no time to hesitate as the tremors intensified. The Lord Ranked Beast was coming closer!
Wang Jian held her soft hand and immediately rushed outside the outpost.
As the two finally left the outpost, they witnessed the sight ahead of them.
Even Wang Jian was startled as he saw dozens of beasts charging towards them at full speed. All these beasts appeared to be Lightning Attribute Beasts. Some were Lightning Stags, Bolt Jackals, Tempest Strider, Electric Snakes and many more.
However, Wang Jian wasn’t scared of these beasts. The beast that actually caught his eye was none other than the largest beast among them all. It was a Thunderbolt Behemoth!
