Villain Extra: Rogue Reader
Chapter 89: Lancelot, I Choose You
"Why are we rushing to the underground portal all of a sudden?" Margaret was starting to feel dizzy in his mind.
First, he told them to look for a place that only he knew.
Then, he told them to suddenly stop looking for the place and head to the underground portal.
How did he even learn of the underground portal as a first-year?
"Did you tell him that, Belva?" She questioned her.
"I did not," Belva responded while leading the way for Ray.
After all, Margaret was a professor, and it would be out of line if she had been the one leading the way.
Normally, she should have stopped them from entering the restricted ground too. The underground portal required time to charge up before it was safe for students to enter for their training and examination.
"Stop chatting and just continue," Ray shouted. He really hoped his deduction was wrong. For the first time, he really prayed that it was just his paranoid mind overtaking his rationality.
Alas, as the trio continued to head toward their destination, they discovered something unexpected.
"This..." Margaret’s expression darkened.
SWOOSH!
She immediately blinked away and arrived next to the two unconscious guards.
Well, unconscious was the incorrect term.
"No sign of heart pulse." Margaret inspected them and confirmed their death.
"Who could do that?" Belva’s eyes widened in disbelief. The guards stationed in the Crestellan Academy were by no means weak. In fact, they could all be considered Knights themselves.
For them to be killed so swiftly and without any chance to respond, just who could accomplish that feat?
"Look at their faces." At this moment, Ray suddenly stepped forward and pointed at the corpses’ expressions. "They still had friendly and laidback expressions. This meant that the attacker was someone they knew and never expected them to kill."
DUN!
As soon as he revealed this matter, both Margaret and Belva took a closer look at their expressions.
Sure enough, they didn’t even show any signs of shock or alertness.
No matter how fast the attacker was, these guards should at least show some sort of reaction.
However, they didn’t and actually kept the look that they would give to their comrades.
"We need to sound the alarm." Margaret clenched her fist.
"And what good does that do?" Ray snickered. "Have you forgotten how crowded the auditorium is? Do you want to go ahead and announce to the world that your academy is so incompetent in defending itself?"
Sure enough, Margaret snapped out of her daze. She realized the consequences if she had really sounded the alarm.
A stampede was definitely bound to commence.
But that wasn’t the worst part. It was the part that Ray mentioned.
As the prestigious academy, if news were to spread that they couldn’t even fend off an intruder within their campus, then who would still trust them?
"You’re right, Raymond." She exhaled softly and admitted. "You’re much more clear-headed than I am in this aspect."
It was the truth, and she had no intention of discrediting him for that.
"Wow, you actually admitted it." Even Ray was stunned by her honest behavior. He was planning on jabbing her for that rash decision and earning Villain Points.
’Damn, how am I supposed to earn them now?’
One must know to never beat down someone who was genuinely praising you.
It just didn’t feel right.
"What do you suggest we do?" Margaret questioned.
"First, you must inform the Principal and only the other Professors. Make sure to suppress the news." Ray instructed.
"Belva and I will continue ahead to check."
"Shouldn’t I tag along then?" Margaret raised an eyebrow.
"Do you think the Principal and those Professors would buy our words?" He responded with a question of his own.
Indeed, Margaret was rendered speechless.
This kind of scene was impossible to believe in general.
Only her credibility would be enough to seriously get the others to work things behind the scenes.
And this remained true for Belva too.
After all, Belva had been gone for so long, and within that time, people could change.
The Principal and other Professors would find it hard to believe Belva’s words as opposed to hers.
"What if there’s danger ahead?" Margaret didn’t feel right leaving the two of them to handle things.
"Do I look like the courting death kind?" Ray asked.
"Yes, you do." Surprisingly, both Belva and Margaret responded at the same time.
"..."
’Okay, screw you two.’ Ray didn’t expect these two would look at him so lowly.
How was he the courting-death type?
He was clearly the clever type to avoid death flags.
"Whatever, no time for debate. Just follow my instructions and listen." He snorted.
"Fine." With the severe incident present, Margaret didn’t have the time to banter with him either. She directly snapped her fingers and teleported away.
Unfortunately, she wouldn’t be able to teleport directly to the auditorium because of the large magic formation.
They couldn’t possibly permit the use of magic inside the auditorium when there were so many people around.
Of course, the formation only restricted those below the Sixth Circle Mages. And she was just a Fifth Circle Mage since she spent the majority of her time on research. Thus, the formation restricted her as well.
Moreover, not everyone could be Sixth Circle and above.
To advance to the next circle could take years, decades, or even more.
"Let me be the vanguard, Young Master." Belva stepped to the front and said.
"No need," Ray shook his head and pulled her back. "This is an order directly from your Master. You are to not speak of what you see today and forget everything that involves me."
"Eh?"
Belva was startled by his sudden command. This was technically his first time ordering her using the magic contract bind.
And she would soon understand the reason for extreme confidentiality.
"Lancelot, I choose you!" Ray recalled his Legion Knight, who was training out somewhere in the wilderness.
Swoosh!
The atmosphere around them quickly changed when a deathly aura knight emerged in front of them.
