Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction

Chapter 103: Putting the fear of Nemean into them

  • Next Chapter

When Kanan and Risha returned to the Village, the first thing she did was go find something to eat. She wouldn’t stop talking about how hungry she was and that she would eat a whole bowl of Blueshroom berries once they returned.

’Well, at least she knows what her priorities are.’

The rescue team had long since left to search for the expedition team that had left three months ago. Kanan still wanted to go with them, but he wasn’t letting the thought eat him up.

"Kanan, you’re back." Omula spotted him walking in the direction of her home and decided to speak with him.

"Oh, good morning, Omula. Yeah, I just got back from searching the forest, sort of. I was just on my way to tell the chief and council about everything I’ve learned."

"May I walk with you?"

"I won’t say no to your company."

The two walked side by side, Omula linking her arm around his own. They passed by plenty of villagers, some grinning, others shocked, while the majority simply greeted the two of them with a smile on their faces.

"Do you think I’m unattractive?" Omula asked

"Far from it."

"Then is it my personality you don’t like?"

"No, you’re great."

"Then why won’t you make me your mate?"

"I want to know you first. We weren’t friends before the Blessing Ceremony, so all I know of you is as the Chief’s daughter. You mostly hung out with the children of notable warriors or the children and grandchildren of the elders."

"I see. That makes sense. You barely know me."

"That’s right. That’s why I didn’t want to make you my mate just because. I’d rather be your mate out of love than obligation or image."

Omula’s heart skipped a beat, and her face turned bright red. She never thought that Kanan felt that way, or even saw her that way.

In her head, she was the daughter of the chief, set to be the next chief, and he was the shaman. It would only make sense for the two of them to be mates due to their status.

Now she understood that Kanan did want to be with her, but only for who she was, not for her status or the image. It made her fall for him even more.

"Then I’ll make sure you will love me."

"I’ll look forward to that."

The two continued to walk and talk, Kanan informing her of what he had discovered when they came across some commotion.

Before the Typhon Tribe joined the village, disputes between tribesmen were minimal and were handled quickly. Now, disputes would take an elder to break them up.

"It’s them again." Omula sighed.

"Again? What’s going on?"

"A while ago, one of our tribesmen mated with the Typhon tribe."

"Yeah, I heard of that." Kanan had hoped that more people would follow in their footsteps and start loving each other. Some did, while others saw it as disgusting.

"Well, ever since then, more people have followed in the footsteps of our brave tribesman, but instead of peace, it only brought more anger and conflict."

"Let me guess, people on both sides are angry that their people are mixing with the other tribe?"

"That’s right."

"Typical."

The crowd was decently sized, but the noise they made was deafening. Every word spoken was drowned out by another voice, creating a chaotic roar that seemed to consume the entire area. People shouted over one another, shoved and pushed their way through the crowd, and threats flew from their mouths as freely as spit.

"I don’t care that you are a warrior! I don’t want my sister mating with some Nemean bastard such as yourself! If you take another step, I’ll chop off your head!" A Typhon Tribesman shouted.

"Yeahhhh! Cut off his head!"

"How dare that Nemean scum try to mate with our own! Find a woman from your tribe."

"We don’t want your stinky women!" A Nemean tribesman shouted.

"Your people are nothing more than upright gorillas! Why would we want to mate with you?!"

"Guys, please, let’s all just get along. We’re a part of the same tribe now, so we need to act like it." A Typhon tribesman said.

"That’s right. If we work together, then we can become a better and stronger tribe than before." A Nemean tribesman agreed

The tribe was split between three groups: the pro-Typhon faction, the pro-Nemean faction, and the neutral faction that wanted peace between everyone.

"I’d rather die than work with you Nemean dogs!"

"The feeling is mutual, you Typhon apes!"

Both sides released their spirit energy, preparing to fight as the neutral faction backed away to avoid being caught in the middle of the eventual battle.

As the two sides began to fight, an overwhelming force forced everyone to the ground, eating dirt.

"I’m very tired of this embarrassing performance you people are putting on," Kanan said in a serious tone.

"S-Shaman Kanan! Haha! You guys are fucked now! Show them that we don’t want these–"

Kanan blasted the man unconscious, showing no mercy besides sparing his life.

"This is your final warning to those who can’t seem to grasp our situation properly. Those who defy Lord Nemean’s orders will be sentenced to death, no questions whatsoever. This doesn’t apply only to the Nemean Tribe, but to the Typhon Tribe as well."

The crowd fell completely silent, and even the villagers nearby stopped what they were doing to hear Kanan speak.

"I don’t care if you don’t like each other, and I’m not asking you to like one another. We are in a crisis, people are dying, and all you people can think about is yourselves. Fucking disgusting. We should be working together to stop this threat, to kill these monsters, not fighting among ourselves."

Embarrassment was shown by the look on everyone’s faces. They knew what was going on in the village, yet they only cared about how they felt toward their rival tribe instead of trying their best to help out in any way they could.

"Whether you like it or not, we are one tribe now, so act like it. The next time I see something like this, an execution will be held. You aren’t children; you’re adults, so grow up."

Kanan hated that it had come to this, but if fear was the only thing everyone would respond to, then he would show them fear.
