Chapter 100: There a Verminus Plant nearby

"According to reports, we have learned that three people have been missing for a total of three days," Telah said, her expression slightly shifting.

"Three days, you say? That’s before the giant attack." Kanan didn’t know every little thing that went on in the village, but as the shaman, he was pretty well informed.

This meant that someone deliberately hid the fact that people went missing for three days, or no one even knew that people were missing in the first place.

"Three days, huh? That’s a long time to wait before reporting that a person is missing. Could this be deliberate?" Kanan specifically asked Telah this question.

He wasn’t blaming her, nor was he saying that the Typhon Tribe was at fault. But even after all this time together, nearly half a year, the tensions between their people hadn’t loosened.

You had your few who managed to become friends, sometimes even mates, but that was the vast minority compared to the rest of the population.

"Out of the three people who are missing, one of them is from the Typhon Tribe." There was a smile on Telah’s face that said, ’Still think it was us?’ and Kanan held up his hands in defeat.

"How old are the missing people?" He asked

"13, 15, and 16," Omula replied

"Hmm. They’re old enough to know how to survive on their own. Especially if it’s just the forest. There aren’t any predators there anyway. Well, not this close, at least."

Elder Nala sighed. She, too, thought the same until something else was brought to her attention. "Kanan, there is something else. According to Elder Telah, this same thing occurred in their village before they had to relocate."

It didn’t take a genius to figure out what she was trying to say...that is, unless you’re Jol or Terin.

"The Verminus Plant?"

"Correct." Nala nodded

"So when you say that they’ve gone missing, you don’t think they’ve been abducted; you think they’ve been infected and have already collapsed."

"That’s right. In fact, we know it’s related to the Verminus Plant. Tell him, Telah."

"You’re aware that we of the Typhon Tribe derive our power from the spirits of nature, right?"

"Yes."

Telah nodded. "When the Verminus Plant is around, our power wanes, making us weaker. Nature hates the Verminus Plant; that’s why the spirits leave, and we’re affected in the process."

"I see. I assume you already have a team searching for the missing children, right?"

"That is correct." Elder Hal nodded. "We want you to use your power to see if you’ll be able to feel where the Verminus Plant is. So far, we’ve tried to use people who can control nature, but they’ve had no luck."

’That’s odd. Alue was able to sense that plant just fine. Could it be that the plant is evolving? Or maybe it’s in some type of infancy stage where it hasn’t developed a consciousness yet.’ Whatever it was, Kanan would figure it out.

"I’ll see what I can do. But I won’t guarantee anything."

"That is fine. This will be all. Kanan, you are to start your search first thing in the morning. You will be accompanied by someone from the Typhon tribe to help you since they are familiar with this situation."

He nodded, then everyone got up to leave.

Kanan didn’t like how things were going. First, the Verminus Plant starts infecting more and more people, then it sends a giant after them, and now it’s infecting children in a forest deemed to be safe.

He was starting to understand why Lord Nemean wanted the Typhon Tribe to move in with them.

On the bright side, he would be able to sleep with Glena and Viola tonight.

---

It was early in the morning when Kanan had to get up to start his investigation. He wondered how he was able to wake up so early without an alarm clock, especially nestled between two pairs of large tits that would make any man want to stay asleep.

"Maybe I’m just that awesome." He got out of bed, got dressed, kissed Glena and Viola, then opened his door.

"Hello."

"Holy!" Kanan nearly had a heart attack after seeing a woman he didn’t recognize standing on his porch.

It was so early in the morning that not only was the sun missing, but fog was still roaming close to the ground. So the last thing he expected was to see someone when he opened his door.

"S-Sorry! I didn’t mean to startle you. Please forgive me."

"It’s fine, don’t worry." His pounding heart started to calm down. "Who are you?"

"I’m Risha. I’m a Sorceress. I was assigned to work with you today."

"A sorceress, huh? Tell me, what’s the difference between a sorceress and a warrior in your tribe. All of you use spirits, so I’ve always wondered how your people differentiated between the two roles."

"Oh, that’s easy! Warriors use the spirits for explosive power. Sorcerers use it for...hmm, for anything else, really."

"So like construction?"

"No, we have people for that."

"Then farming?"

"Haha, we have people for that too."

"Hunting?"

"Warriors do that."

’Ahhhh, I get it. She’s an airhead.’

"I see. You’re very...informative."

Risha’s face turned red, blushing from getting a compliment from Kanan. Though she was from the Typhon Tribe, she was one of those people who tried to learn the Nemean ways, and when she learned of Kanan, she became one of his fangirls.

"T-T-T-T-Thank you! I’ll do everything in my power to serve you well!" She bowed so low that Kanan swore her head would break through the porch.

"Riiiiiight. Shall we go?"

"O=Oh, yes. Please follow me."

Kanan walked behind Risha as she led him to where the presence of the Verminus Plant was.

He had to admit that he found her very attractive. Her boobs were huge, like, the biggest he’d seen in this world so far, but not disgustingly large, and the rest of her body had him drooling.

Risha wasn’t a warrior or someone who engaged in physical labor; Kanan could tell. But that didn’t bother him. In this age, you were either muscular or had an average body type.

’The perks of not having fast food. Oh, and I guess not being in control of the world like in modern times plays a role as well.’

"We’re here." Risha paused, stepping back a little. "I can feel my power waning. Be careful."
