Chapter 214
—–
The Blue Oni was wandering around our area while trying to find an opening to strike one of us down, finding Eric as the actual weakest of us all, who was firing arrows at the Imps and had taken down three by himself.
“You’re a tiny child, I wonder how tasty your flesh might be!” He laughed, pouncing forward while using the opportunity when Eric was taking out a new arrow out of his quiver. However, the Oni was quickly greeted by roots coming out of the floor, entangling around both of his legs, and making him trip over the ground.
BAM!
“Did you thought I would let you get close? My spirit is always protecting my surroundings!” Said Eric, as he seemed rather proud of what he had done. I had already realized his technique. Eric’s spirit allowed him to control it and make it into many sorts of vines. He had summoned his spirit underground and simply ordered it to capture anything that gets close to him.
The Oni fell face down over the ground, completely shocked and angered, he grabbed the vines with his claws and began to infuse his Demon Fire into them. The vines quickly succumbed to the consuming demonic flames, as the Oni furiously rushed towards Eric right after that.
“Fenrir!”
A black wolf suddenly emerged right in front of Eric, as it roared angrily, opening its jaws and attacking the Oni. I had summoned a Fenrir to assist Eric as he seemed to not be able to fight one on one against a powerful Oni. Eric had felt surprised the moment he saw such a big black wolf emerge and ended stepping back.
“Don’t worry, that’s one of my familiars.” I said. “I had summoned him with magic.”
“A-Amazing, is this a familiar, not a spirit?!” Asked Eric.
“More importantly, concentrate in the fight. Erika, Chris, don’t slack off, the Oni is right behind you!” I roared. The two quickly nodded, smacking the Imps distracting them and then running towards Eric, ambushing the Oni from all sides.
“Ugh?! Y-You damn… you’re kids, how come you can defeat us so easily…?!” He wondered in disbelief. He looked like a rather unexperienced demon.
“You’re very naïve to underestimate the humans of this world, demon.” I told him through his demonic tongue, as the Oni was surprised that I could speak to him.
“Y-You know our language?!”
“Naturally so! But it is not as if we’ll enjoy a teatime and speak about life, right? You’re going down.”
“Bastard! Are you behind these kids abnormal strength?!”
“You’re sharp… Too bad you won’t have the opportunity to grow anymore.”
“Ungh!”
The Oni quickly got into a fight with Chris, Eric, and Erika at the same time, while I decided to command three Fenrir and one Spore to keep the Imps at bay, mostly leaving them half-dead or putting them down through Paralysis Spores.
CLASH!
Erika’s blade clashed against the Oni’s mace, as he used his supernatural strength to overcome Erika’s incredible strength and push her away with a loud clashing sound.
CRAAASH!
“Uagh! Dolls! Attack Formation!” Erika fell into the floor but quickly got up, commanding all her dolls into attack formation around Chris and Eric. The Oni didn’t understood what was going on, and he seemed to lack a complete understanding of humans Spirits and Skills, but he was able to resist even things he didn’t understood through sheer strength and magic power.
CLASH!
He clashed against Chris, who defended with his staff. Chris promptly unleashed a spiraling vortex of flames that caught the Oni temporarily, only for Eric to fire a barrage of magic-enchanted arrows towards the Oni, piercing several parts of his body which then unleashed rays of nature-attribute mana.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
“UUOGH!” The Oni cried in pain while Eric and Chris were keeping him busy. The Dolls swiftly reached him after a few seconds since their command was given. Small Magician Dolls began to unleash little Fireballs, Slicing Winds, and Boulders, while the warriors attacked with small axes, swords, and spears. There were even archers firing arrows the size of needles, which were just as sharp as needles as well.
“AAAGGH! W-What sort of strange powers do you humans have?!” The Oni cried, unleashing a spiraling storm of blue flames and quickly attempting to escape by hitting Eric in the back with his mace.
CLAASH!
“UAGH!”
Eric fell down into the floor, alive, but rather wounded. Meanwhile, Chris and Erika chased down the Oni and Erika quickly got in front of him, spinning around by using [Dance].
“Princess’ Kicking Dance!”
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
Her spinning attack hit the Oni several times with her legs, leaving marks of her boots all over the face of the Oni and throwing him down. Chris promptly reached his back, furiously smacking his head with the blazing tip of his staff.
“Fire Hammer!”
For a moment, the fire shaped into a large hammer and hit the Oni with the strength of Chris and his magic.
CLAAAAASSSSHHH!!!
“GRAAH…!”
The Oni couldn’t help but scream loudly and pathetically, his entire head was cracked in half, and his body was flattened like a pancake by the explosive firepower of Chris, which even surprised me. Since when did he had such an ability as that? Did he made it right now? Amazing.
“The Oni is dead but there’s the Imps left!” Erika said, running with Chris and the slightly wounded Eric. They finished the last Imps one by one, as they were captured by my Fenrir and immobilized by the Walking Mushroom Summon spores.
The three were resting over the floor after that, gasping for air. They were still processing all of what had happened. The fight with the Oni was more intense than they thought, and they were all close to death by how mighty it was. Their hearts were beating fast even when all threats were neutralized.
“You did well.” I said, praising the three. Although I had to assist them a bit, they did most of the work… I guess I can finally consider them as competent fighters.
