Chapter 1979: Chapter 1978: Taking Matters into My Own Hands
"Ha, don’t rush, let the bullet fly for a while."
Li Feng said calmly.
Let the bullet fly for a while, what does that mean?
Ran Yue is a native of Kunlun World, how would she know about jokes from the outside world, her face full of confusion and doubt. Li Feng looked at Ran Yue and said, "You don’t need to worry about this matter, I will handle it myself."
"You only need to do one thing, go find suitable mounts, as long as they’re usable, find a way to procure them."
"That is possible, but most trades here are resource-based or involve barter, we don’t have much to exchange."
"You’ll have it soon."
Li Feng said.
Ran Yue was bewildered.
Li Feng did not explain further, he simply waved Ran Yue off to keep busy, and the night passed peacefully.
The next day, the sun was high in the sky.
Shadow appeared in front of Li Feng: "Camp Master, I’ve visited all the recruitment points, but there are mainly spectators, almost no one comes forward to join, it seems like all the Demon Clan are observing."
"Hmm, it’s about time."
Li Feng said, then stood up and walked out of the camp. Before leaving the campsite, he encountered the Wolf Clan Captain Gu Feng, along with two other demons, one of whom resembled the Wolf Clan with seventy percent similarity, strong upper body but short lower body, suggesting they belong to the same family, the Bei Clan. The other demon was from the Badger Clan.
These two clans are vassal tribes of the Wolf Clan, both are large tribes able to muster thousands of warriors.
"Lord Feng Yang."
Gu Feng stepped forward to salute Li Feng, albeit the Fire Phoenix Clan is a fallen clan, long past its prestige, Li Feng’s strength is undeniable, and the Fire Phoenix Clan was once an Overlord, prompting Gu Feng to maintain respect for the strong.
The captains from the two tribes also stepped forward, but their expressions were not as pleasant; at a glance, Li Feng could only think they looked cunning.
"Greetings, Lord Feng Yang."
"Who are these two?"
Li Feng still asked.
"These two are captains guarding this place, this is He Buxi from the Bei Clan, and Cao She from the Badger Clan."
Listening to the names, it seems these demons have adopted quite a bit of Ancestor Dragon City’s human culture; demons were nameless originally, but after establishing the Demon Country, they had a concept of surnames.
"Hmm."
Li Feng nodded: "What brings the three of you here?"
"Having nothing to do, we were just wandering around, didn’t expect to run into Lord Feng Yang, are you heading...?"
"Hmm, I heard from my subordinates that recruitment of demons isn’t going smoothly, so I’m going to check it out, do the three of you want to come along?"
Li Feng squinted at the three of them, they had been waiting here to watch him make a fool of himself.
"I have heard as well, supposedly some rumors are being intentionally spread, I was just about to check if that’s true, should there be anyone deliberately slandering Lord Feng Yang, I will make them pay."
Gu Feng said righteously.
Li Feng was noncommittal, then directly left under the watchful eyes of the three and exited the central campsite, south to an open space, where a post was staked in the ground, a Fire Phoenix banner hanging from it, and below, Lei Ba and others were conducting recruitment.
"It’s really frustrating, these guys are impervious to provocation, no matter how I try to bait them, nobody dares to step forward."
Lei Ba was a bit angry, surrounded by a significant number of Demon Clan, yet nobody stepped forward, instead they just pointed and whispered.
At this moment, there was some chaos in the demon crowd.
"Quick, make way."
Li Feng and his group walked through the parted crowd, Lei Ba spotted Li Feng and quickly rose to greet him: "My Lord, Lei Ba has been ineffective, failed to recruit anyone for quite some time."
Looking at Lei Ba’s report, the Bei Clan and Badger Clan captains exchanged smiles behind him, though not all the rumors were their doing, they did play a part in fanning the flames, otherwise, despite the discussions, it wouldn’t be so bad someone wouldn’t step up.
"Stand up."
"I’m here to handle this matter."
Li Feng said.
Lei Ba stood up and looked at Li Feng: "My lord, now outside there are quite a few rumors saying that following you will lead to a bloody disaster, and that there’s no future with you. Plus, some are analyzing without basis, disturbing people’s hearts, resulting in a majority just here for show."
Li Feng, upon hearing this, turned to look at Gu Feng, He Buxi, and Cao She: "Captain Gu, Captain He, Captain Cao, what do you think?"
The three questioned turned to look at Li Feng.
Gu Feng pondered for a moment, then spoke: "I heard these words were first spread by an old turtle, then they spread wildly within the campsite, with each retelling growing more ridiculous. I think we should catch that old turtle, to set an example."
"Right, that old turtle dared to speak recklessly, utterly outrageous, someone go catch that old turtle."
The Bei Clan Captain He Buran immediately echoed, then turned and ordered.
"Hmm, besides that, I think we should issue a command, whoever dares to criticize recklessly and gets caught will serve as a warning, let’s see who dares to speak nonsense then."
Cao She also ventured a suggestion.
Li Feng glanced at the two, they were coordinating perfectly, pretending to flatter him, but actually harboring malicious intentions. If Li Feng were naïve, he might actually fall for their trap, since who doesn’t enjoy being praised and complimented?
Only these tactics, in Li Feng’s eyes, are as juvenile as kindergarten level.
"That old turtle indeed deserves to die, catch him and bring him here, I want to deal with him personally."
He Buran and Cao She exchanged a knowing glance, thinking Li Feng was indeed naïve.
"Yes, Lord Feng Yang."
"Hurry up then." The two turned and ordered their trusted aides.
Li Feng ignored the two afterward: "As for recruiting trusted aides, since I want people to join, I’ll do it myself."
"Hmm?"
Gu Feng and the other two looked up at Li Feng, then he leapt up and directly onto the top of the flagpole.
"This one actually wants to step in personally, ha, if no one comes forward, imagine how embarrassing it would be."
He Buran, hiding behind Gu Feng, sneered coldly.
"Hehe, I find him quite immature, though his strength is remarkable, but he’s too idealistic, thinking that just being strong will attract countless followers, what is he thinking?"
"If his Fire Phoenix Clan was still the leading clan of yesterday, naturally many clans would bow and want to join, but now is not a thousand years ago, what is the Fire Phoenix Clan worth?"
Cao She also showed disdain.
Respecting you as master, but if not, you’re nothing.
Had it not been for the force behind him being too strong, even Gu Feng wouldn’t be a match, they wouldn’t even call him lord, long ago they would have trampled him underfoot.
But thinking about his upcoming embarrassment makes it quite satisfying.
