Urban's Fury: The War Dragon God
Chapter 1975 - 1974: Intentions
Chapter 1975: Chapter 1974: Intentions
Gu Feng quickly led Li Feng to the inner circle of the camp. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the outer layers, this place was much more tense, with patrols of Demon Soldiers moving around, and a two-zhang high earthen wall rising from the ground, enclosing a massive military camp.
"Lord Feng Yang, this is the core of the camp, where a large amount of supplies transported from the rear are stored. Not only is there a garrison of ten thousand from my sharp tooth unit, but two more ten thousand-strong units are stationed here, with three ten thousand-strong units guarding."
"Moreover, demon tribes from all directions continue to arrive daily. Just the Demon Soldiers staying outside number no less than tens of thousands, not to mention the tribes accompanying them, numbering over a hundred thousand."
"The old and weak of our Demon Clan also possess some combat power and can be used as soldiers."
"This is my tent, Lord Feng Yang, please."
Quickly, they arrived in front of a large tent. Although there were three ten-thousand-strong units here, Gu Feng held the highest authority.
"Is it appropriate for me to stay in your tent?"
Li Feng asked, pre-empting the question.
Gu Feng’s expression turned strange for a moment, then he smiled: "There’s no such thing, Lord Feng Yang’s presence here is my utmost honor."
"Then I shall accept your hospitality."
Li Feng didn’t stand on ceremony, realizing this tent was the center of the camp, with no other tents within a hundred meters radius, and it was particularly spacious, large enough to host a banquet.
Without hesitation, Li Feng’s trusted aides followed, and Lei Ba and others went straight to replace the Wolf Clan’s trusted aides near the tent.
Seeing this, Gu Feng could only signal his trusted aides to step aside, while Shi Xing of the Dog Clan eagerly had his clansmen take over.
Entering the tent,
Li Feng unreservedly sat in the foremost position, with Gu Feng taking a subordinate seat.
"I might need to borrow your place for a few days before heading to the frontline camp," Li Feng stated.
Upon hearing this, Gu Feng quickly nodded: "Lord Feng Yang may stay as long as you wish."
"Aren’t you curious why I need to stay here?"
Li Feng asked proactively.
Gu Feng looked up at Li Feng: "Lord Feng Yang must have profound intentions, which are beyond my comprehension."
Li Feng reclined on the beastskin chair and squinted at Gu Feng, saying: "This time, the Fire Phoenix Clan sent me out, first because the Vermilion Bird is dead, ending a millennium of entanglement, and our clan is not going to remain in silence."
"The Vermilion Bird is dead?"
Gu Feng was astounded hearing Li Feng’s words, while Li Feng remained indifferent: "What’s so strange about that."
"Over two hundred years ago, the Vermilion Bird was severely wounded by the Dragon Emperor and had no choice but to choose rebirth through fire. However, rebirth through fire has preconditions. Recently, the Dragon Emperor sent the third Prince, Emperor Yue, along with top-ranked experts on the Dragon List to execute a decapitation plan, sabotaging the Vermilion Bird’s rebirth process by fire, directly triggering the explosion of the Earth Veins, resulting in the eruption of the Molten Lava Volcano."
"The Vermilion Bird failed in rebirth through fire, forcing a reincarnation, to once more descend into our clan, with the birth of the next Phoenix Empress imminent. Naturally, our Fire Phoenix Clan won’t resign to hiding in the mountains."
"Therefore, our clan emerges to realign forces in preparation for unexpected needs."
"This battle is a timely opportunity."
Li Feng concocted a lie that was flawless, at least to Gu Feng’s ears, linking cause and effect, leading him to a conclusion in his heart.
The Vermilion Bird is dead, the next generation of the Phoenix Empress will reincarnate, so the Fire Phoenix Clan, which had been silent for a millennium, is unwilling to remain dormant and sent Feng Yang here to rally basic support.
After all, ever since the Vermilion Bird’s betrayal, the co-governance of the Empress vanished, with the Dragon Emperor suppressing the Phoenix Empress line, along with the Fire Phoenix Clan’s voluntary retreat, causing the power under the Phoenix Empress to collapse, either destroyed or gathered under the Dragon Emperor’s banner.
Over a thousand years, the prestige of the Phoenix Empress had long faded, and many new demon generations didn’t even know of the Fire Phoenix Clan, only aware of the Green Phoenix and Ice Phoenix Clans, both of which were former branches of the Fire Phoenix Clan.
Gu Feng didn’t know what else to do, only saying: "I wonder if Lord Feng Yang has any instructions. Within my capabilities, Gu Feng will surely give his all."
Li Feng glanced at Gu Feng: "You don’t need to do anything, just don’t obstruct what I need to do."
"I will only stay here for five days, after which I’ll head to the frontline camp."
"This place is temporarily mine, to be returned in five days."
"Alright, I’m somewhat exhausted. You may leave first."
After speaking, Li Feng directly gave an order for Gu Feng to leave.
Gu Feng had no choice but to leave the tent. He felt a chill on his back, wondering if the Fire Phoenix Clan planned to regain its former status and restore co-governance with the Empress, but is it even possible?
Back then, co-governance occurred because the Fire Phoenix Clan’s power was vast, enough to counterbalance the Dragon Emperor’s side. If a war broke out, the outcome would be mutual destruction, leading to co-governance.
But now, the Dragon Emperor’s rule was deeply embedded in the countless demon tribes in the Southern Ten-Thousand Grand Mountains. Even the former branches of the Fire Phoenix Clan were under the Dragon Emperor’s command, along with the eight Great Gold Tribes and the ten Top Demon Generals being his supporters.
This isn’t the situation of the past anymore.
Although Feng Yang is incredibly powerful, not seeming inferior to the ten Top Demon Generals, hoping to build a force against the Dragon Emperor alone is simply delusional.
Though Gu Feng respected the other, he didn’t want to get involved.
"Captain Gu."
Just then, outside the tent, two other Captains came over.
"We heard that a formidable figure arrived outside the camp, a strong one from the old Fire Phoenix Clan, what’s going on?"
"Yeah, the Fire Phoenix Clan has been dormant for a thousand years, why emerge suddenly? There must be something unusual!"
The two Captains had also received messages, knowing about the happenings outside the camp gate, eagerly finding Gu Feng for information.
"The Vermilion Bird is dead, hence will reincarnate. The Fire Phoenix Clan emerges this time aiming to restore co-governance with the Empress, with Lord Feng Yang likely spearheading to gather forces and establish a base through the battle against Ancestor Dragon City."
Gu Feng summed it up briefly.
"The Vermilion Bird is dead?"
The two other Captains were startled, chewing over the information from Gu Feng. It was quite a load.
The Vermilion Bird is dead, the Fire Phoenix Clan emerges intending to restore co-governance and revive past glory.
"Is it possible, this isn’t a thousand years ago. The Fire Phoenix Clan wanting to build a force against the Dragon Emperor, isn’t that seeking death?"
"Indeed, times have changed. What is the Fire Phoenix Clan thinking? Surely, they don’t believe they have the strength to co-govern with the Dragon Emperor again."
Listening, Gu Feng glanced at the tent behind: "Alright, you two should know this and keep it to yourselves. This isn’t something we can meddle in, or we won’t know how we died."
"We’d love to pretend ignorance, but with this main figure here, can we avoid it?"
"Yeah."
"They didn’t request anything from us, so we shouldn’t concern ourselves too much. They said they would stay here for only five days and then leave. Survive these days, and it’ll be fine."
