Chapter 1970: Chapter 1969: Chiliarch Gu Ta

"Such a strong aura."

Some demon clan members dodging to the side turned to look at the wolf riders rushing past them, their keen five senses directly perceiving a heavy aura hitting them head-on.

"Hmm, the camp is guarded by the Li Chi Division, one of the six tribes of the Wolf Clan, not those smaller wolf tribal settlements. See the War Wolves beneath them? They’re the famously known Thorny Battle Wolves of the Li Chi Division."

Upon hearing this, some demons from smaller tribes couldn’t help but look at the bragging demon clan member: "Thorny Battle Wolves, they sound impressive."

"Hmm, it’s not just a sound. These Thorny Battle Wolves are specially bred mounts by the Li Chi Division. Though they’re smaller than ordinary riding wolves, these thorny mounts have a copper skin and iron bones, and are covered in thorns."

"I don’t see any thorns; they just have longer canines than regular riding wolves."

"That’s just ignorance. Right now, the Thorny Battle Wolves are not in battle mode. Once they enter the fight, they’ll activate a second form—its battle form—and ordinary riding wolves won’t be able to get close."

"Really that strong?"

"Hmm, which is why, even in the Li Chi Division, only a few elite possess them. Usually, in a ten-thousand-strong cavalry, only one or two thousand are Thorny Battle Wolves. Like Gu Ta, the Chiliarch only has around a hundred Thorny Wolf Riders under him."

"So that guy is in trouble then?"

"Need you ask? Though I don’t know which clan he’s from, daring to severely wound a wolf clan centurion at the front gate, the wolf clan won’t let it slide. They’re known for their unity and vengeance."

As a group murmured, the Li Chi Division wolf riders sprinted through the camp gates, stopping before Li Feng.

Li Feng felt the intimidating aura approach, his gaze scanned the wolf riders before him; these riders were clearly more elite than those he’d encountered before, each exuding a fierce aura, their wolf mounts noticeably different.

The sharp canines resembled saber-tooth tigers; although smaller in size, they gave off a wild and fierce impression.

As Li Feng observed, the wolf riders split to each side, revealing a notably more ferocious Thorny Battle Wolf stepping forward. This Thorny Battle Wolf was considerably larger, with scars all over its body, emanating a ferocious presence, eerie green wolf eyes making one involuntarily shudder.

The horseman sat on the wolf’s back, clad in armor stitched from bones and leather, with unknown skulls embedded on each shoulder and a wolf-head helmet atop—all were battle-hardened, giving off an aura of dominance.

This Wolf Demon was none other than Gu Ta, the Chiliarch tasked with guarding the camp’s southern gate.

Gu Ta glanced at his scorched, bloodied centurion subordinate lying on the ground, looking down at Li Feng.

"I don’t care who you are, but daring to severely wound my warrior in front of our camp, you seem to disregard the Wolf Clan entirely."

Gu Ta was not rash by nature, and as he uttered this, he was already assessing Li Feng, unable to match him with any known genius from various tribes.

His gaze shifted to Li Feng’s ragtag followers—Dog Clan, Sheep Clan, Bear Clan, Mountain-piercing Clan—an eclectic mix from ten-plus demon tribe members.

One could tell from his subordinates that he lacked strong backing; otherwise, how could he lead such a motley crew?

Any tribal genius would undoubtedly lead troops belonging to their tribe’s elite, equipped with the best gear, clearly marking their origins at first glance despite their fewer numbers.

Li Feng raised his eyes to the somewhat arrogant Gu Ta: "Do I need to regard your wolf clan?"

Gu Ta never expected him to be so bold.

"Where’s this mutt from, daring to look down on my wolf clan, think you’re worthy?"

All of Gu Ta’s wolf riders were proud elites, incensed upon hearing Li Feng’s audacity.

Without waiting for Gu Ta’s orders, one of Gu Ta’s defiant subordinates spurred his Thorny Battle Wolf under him. With fierce claw strength, it quickly rushed towards Li Feng, arriving before him, claws swung like a mighty fist, tearing through the air, claw blades aimed at Li Feng’s face like wind.

Li Feng sneered, at the critical moment, a Thunder Flash, next second he appeared above its Thorny Battle Wolf head.

The following second, Domineering Thunder Flame exploded fiercely upon his fist, raining downwards.

Li Feng’s fist smashed into the Thorny Battle Wolf’s hardest skull, an immense force like a mountain drove its head into the ground, while its mounted wolf soldier was flung off, face-planting like a dog eating dirt.

This moment unfolded like lightning, causing all around to gasp sharply.

Oh.

Li Feng looked at the Thorny Battle Wolf whose head was rooted into the earth but could still move its body, a bit surprised; while he hadn’t used full strength, about seventy percent, it didn’t shatter the wolf’s skull.

Though known for their hard heads and soft waists, Li Feng’s punch was mixed with domineering energy, coupled with Burning Technique to power Qi, the instant explosion strong enough to ignite flames through air friction though not enhanced by Vermilion Bird Fire.

"How dare you act arrogant before my Chiliarch."

The ferocious Thorny Wolf Riders glared menacingly at Li Feng, yet Li Feng moved leisurely, immune to the cold air that surrounded him, raising his gaze to Gu Ta.

"I merely disciplined one of your subordinates defying orders and acting on his own; your Chiliarch hasn’t spoken, yet you bicker on here—is this what you call the strictest discipline of the Wolf Clan army?"

"If so, nothing impressive."

Li Feng scornfully taunted, further inflaming the Thorny Wolf Riders before him.

"Chiliarch, issue the order, let this guy know our wolf clan’s might."

"Everyone shut up."

Gu Ta immediately silenced his subordinates, eyes coldly fixing on Li Feng: "I handle my subordinates, none of your concern."

"You’ve wounded my centurion, now attacked my trusted aide, you owe me an explanation."

Li Feng pressed his lips into a grin.

"Explain to you?"

"Haha, since you didn’t plan on reasoning, why bother talking, just fight—you have a stronger fist, your words count."

"When my fist is stronger, why do I need to explain to you?"

Li Feng scoffed coldly.

"Hmph, how sharp-tongued. I am Gu Ta, Chiliarch of the Li Chi Division, state your name."

Li Feng looked at the sinisterly smiling Gu Ta, faintly mocking: "You don’t deserve to know my name."

Li Feng said this, beckoning with a finger towards Gu Ta.
