Chapter 1534 - 1533: As Good as Useless

While Elizabeth IV was hysterically screaming at the members of the Royal Special Forces, in the London City branch of the Assassin Alliance, Lu Yu was sitting in front of the monitors, watching everything unfold on the screens.

"My lord, if Elizabeth IV knew that we not only threatened her, but also installed surveillance devices all around her, wouldn't her expression become even more twisted?!"

Staring at the video feed, a man chuckled as he spoke. His voice was low, and looking at the screen in front of him, every word he uttered was soaked with amusement.

"Just a dagger and a threatening note are enough to make her like this. If we let her know we're monitoring her as well, I feel the appearance of Elizabeth V wouldn't be too far off."

Looking at Elizabeth IV's ferocious expression on the screen, Lu Yu made a joking comment. His eyes were locked on the footage as he spoke in a flat tone: "Even though it's entertaining, I don't intend to do that."

"After all, dust to dust, earth to earth. The European Federal Authority and the United Kingdom are not my enemies."

As he spoke, Lu Yu's voice was low and indifferent, tinged with a faint undertone of contemplation.

"My lord is right."

Hearing Lu Yu's words, the man spoke up at once: "In that case, what should we do next?!"

His words were heavy with inquiry.

"Simple."

Hearing the man's question, Lu Yu replied blandly, "Notify the brothers lurking around Kensington Palace. Tell them to ramp up the pressure on Elizabeth IV over the next couple of days. She has to feel, every waking moment, the terror of the Assassin Alliance shadowing her every step."

As he spoke, Lu Yu lowered his gaze, fingers moving idly, his tone full of playful irony.

"Understood, my lord!"

At that, the man nodded. Looking at Lu Yu, he said, "Do you want us to kill one Special Forces soldier every day, to inflict even greater psychological panic on them?"

This man clearly understood the essence of psychological warfare. He knew that if they silently took out one Special Forces soldier per day, it would form a siege around Elizabeth. Before long, everyone in Kensington Palace, top to bottom, would be plunged into utter despair.

"There's no need for that."

Hearing the suggestion, Lu Yu shook his head. He spoke to the man in front of him: "Right now, what we need is to join forces with the royal family against the Shadow Luo Organization. There's no need to go head‑to‑head with the royals."

"That tactic is for dealing with enemies, and Elizabeth doesn't count as our enemy yet."

As he spoke, Lu Yu's voice was low. Staring at the screen in front of him, he went on, "What we want now is for the British royal family to link up with us and provide manpower to help take on the Shadow Luo Organization. At this stage all we need is to intimidate them—there's no need to push things to the breaking point."

"In the end, more friends means more paths forward; more enemies means more walls in your way."

Lu Yu's words were deep and steady, every line carrying a subtle sense of composure.

"Understood, my lord!"

After hearing Lu Yu's speech, the man nodded and said calmly, "I'll notify everyone right away and have the brothers hidden inside Kensington Palace start moving."

"Mm."

At this, Lu Yu nodded. His eyes flicked toward the man as he continued, "And another thing—dig up all the criminal evidence you can find on the Crescent Group. Remember, you're to investigate all of it in private. Do not let a single hint leak out, or we'll startle the snake in the grass."

Lu Yu no longer intended to wait much longer. His conflict with the Shadow Luo Organization was growing sharper by the day; the incident with Dragon not long ago was the clearest proof.

Each escalation in their confrontation would only make the enemy stronger. So now Lu Yu had decided to pursue multiple strategies at once—collecting evidence of Shadow Luo Organization's crimes while he waited. That way, he could take care of many things during this period and save a great deal of time.

"Understood, my lord!"

Hearing Lu Yu's order, the man bowed his head sharply and replied. His tone carried an unmistakable humility.

"Go."

At that, Lu Yu said coolly, "Remember, this must be handled with absolute care. Not the slightest mistake is allowed."

"Yes!"

Upon hearing Lu Yu's words, the man responded. His tone was low and resolute, as if he had carved Lu Yu's instructions straight into his heart.

With that, the man turned on his heel and strode out.

"Elizabeth, oh Elizabeth…"

After the man left, Lu Yu murmured, his gaze deep. He went on, "Three days. In just three days, I'll make you understand just how ridiculous all these grand gestures of yours really are."

His voice was low, and every word carried a chilling, oppressive weight.

...

Three days later, inside Kensington Palace in the United Kingdom, the sky was still dark when Elizabeth IV suddenly opened her eyes in bed. Her right hand instinctively slid under her pillow, pulling out a pistol. Her eyes swept sharply around the room, her whole demeanor taut with tension.

Her gaze was razor‑keen and on high alert. Gone was the loose, voluminous nightgown she used to wear; in its place was a set of athletic gear. There was not a trace of the Queen's regal bearing left in Elizabeth IV—she looked only like a frightened woman.

Over these three days, Elizabeth IV had been tormented by constant shock and dread. She had reached the point where every rustle of the wind felt like an enemy—utterly jumpy, nerves stretched to breaking. Even when nothing stirred, she remained tightly wound.

In just three days, Elizabeth IV had expanded the Special Forces security personnel around her from five squads to five times that number. Kensington Palace now was like a sealed barrel—its security level insanely high.

Yet even so, over these three days Elizabeth IV still received, right on schedule, the Assassin Alliance's most sincere greetings every single day. Those greetings appeared not only under her pillow, but also in her bathroom, on her dining table—daggers and threatening letters brazenly left in all those places!

Impenetrable as Kensington Palace was supposed to be, in the eyes of the Assassin Alliance it was no more than a child's playhouse—they came and went as they pleased. Those so‑called Special Forces might as well have been made of paper.
