Chapter 491: How to Get Revenge
Chapter 491: Chapter 491: How to Get Revenge
After being humiliated, Bai Qianxun was naturally unwilling to be "bullied" like this.
As far as Eldest Young Master Bai, Bai Qianxun, was concerned, he was the one who bullied others. When was it ever someone else’s turn to bully him?
But he couldn’t figure out who had targeted him, so he found Mo Dawei. After a round of threats and promises, he forced Mo Dawei to do several things for him.
Mo Dawei had done several nasty things to get at Wang Chenning. First, he instigated Zhou Jieyang to use a class reunion as a pretext to meet Zheng Qiuhang at Li Garden Hall, where he planned to drug and ruin her. Second, he spread rumors to damage Wang Chenning’s reputation and even hired online trolls to fan the flames.
The first scheme almost ruined Zheng Qiuhang, but luckily, Wang Chenning stumbled upon it.
At the time, Zhou Jieyang had confessed that Mo Dawei put him up to it, but Wang Chenning hadn’t been entirely convinced. ’There’s no way Mo Dawei has the guts for this,’ he’d thought. ’Someone must be framing him.’ He never imagined it was the truth.
Mo Dawei’s actions didn’t stop there. He also hired people to smash Bai Qianxun’s car, leaving a trail of clues that would point to Li Mingchao as the one who ordered it.
He also sent people to harass Zhao Xiao’an, using Zhang Guoping’s name.
After hearing Mo Dawei recount everything in detail, Wang Chenning couldn’t help but feel a grudging respect for Bai Qianxun.
’The Bai family’s eldest young master really has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and he actually uses his brain.’
Many of the things Wang Chenning himself had done were, in fact, deliberately intended to stir up conflict among the wealthy families.
Some of the things Bai Qianxun did had a similar purpose. They both wanted to seize victory from chaos, letting others fight to the bitter end while they reaped the benefits from the sidelines.
Wang Chenning had never underestimated Bai Qianxun, and after hearing Mo Dawei’s account, his estimation of this potential rival grew even higher.
Li Mingchao was furious after hearing Mo Dawei’s story. He had been defeated at Wang Chenning’s hands and considered it the greatest humiliation of his life. He had hoped it would be the *only* such humiliation, and that no one else would ever be able to shame him again.
He never expected Bai Qianxun to come and piss on his head, too.
He called Bai Qianxun right then and there. "Bai Qianxun, you actually played me! I won’t let you get away with this!"
Bai Qianxun, who already knew Wang Chenning had dealt with Mo Dawei today, was completely unfazed by Li Mingchao’s direct call.
After hearing Li Mingchao out, Bai Qianxun chuckled and replied, "Mingchao, don’t be so angry. It’s all just a game, no need to take it seriously. At the end of the day, we’re still friends, aren’t we? The elders in our families are happy to see us doing this stuff. How can we grow without being tested? The more we go through, the more mature we become and the more qualified we’ll be to take over. In any case, I don’t hold grudges against anyone. In fact, I’m truly grateful to have a friend-slash-rival like Wang Chenning!"
Li Mingchao was stunned speechless for a moment by Bai Qianxun’s response.
"You must be drinking with Wang Chenning, right?" Ignoring Li Mingchao’s silence, Bai Qianxun continued with a hearty laugh. "It’s a shame I’m busy today, otherwise I’d definitely join you for a round. But I wouldn’t dare challenge Wang Chenning to a drinking contest. That bastard’s an absolute monster, and with those drugs of his, he could probably drink an entire platoon under the table."
Li Mingchao took a deep breath and replied, "Fine. Whenever you’re hosting, Eldest Young Master Bai, we’ll be there to drink with you."
After hanging up, Li Mingchao said coldly to Mo Dawei, "So you were nothing more than an insignificant pawn to him. Since that’s the case, get lost!"
As if granted a royal pardon, Mo Dawei scrambled up from the floor and bolted.
But just as he reached the door, Li Mingchao called him back.
"Teacher Wang hasn’t even spoken. You think you can just leave?"
Mo Dawei had no choice but to trudge back, completely deflated.
Li Mingchao kicked Mo Dawei to the ground, then said to Wang Chenning, "Brother Ning, this dog could still be useful. Why don’t we use him for a few things?"
"You handle it," Wang Chenning said, tossing a packet of medicine to Li Mingchao. "It’s a drug with similar properties. I’ll give you the antidote for both tomorrow."
Li Mingchao caught the packet of medicine from Wang Chenning, his expression complex. In the end, he nodded.
Right in front of Wang Chenning, Li Mingchao forced Mo Dawei to swallow the drug, kicked him out the door, and then turned to Wang Chenning. "Brother Ning, Bai Qianxun has done so much disgusting shit. Aren’t we going to retaliate?"
"It’s fine. No rush." Wang Chenning shook his head. "Let’s take our time. We can’t let ourselves be drawn into Bai Qianxun’s game."
Li Mingchao was confused. He had no idea that many of the recent incidents weren’t Bai Qianxun’s doing at all, but rather Wang Chenning pulling the strings behind the scenes.
He assumed Bai Qianxun was responsible for everything and was eager for revenge, so he was surprised by how calm Wang Chenning was.
"What’s the best way to get revenge on Bai Qianxun?" Wang Chenning asked Li Mingchao.
Li Mingchao froze, unsure how to answer.
Wang Chenning didn’t press him, simply waiting for an answer.
After a moment’s thought, Li Mingchao replied with hesitation, "Bai Qianxun dotes on his sister. You could say Bai Yanni is his biggest weakness. Brother Ning, surely you’re not thinking of going after her?"
"Me? Go after her? That would be giving her far too much credit." Wang Chenning shook his head. "I hear she’s been with enough men to fill a classroom. I have no interest in becoming the class monitor or the platoon leader."
Li Mingchao paused, then a look of understanding dawned on his face. "The young lady of the Bai family has such a noble status... If she were to get involved with someone of low birth, then..."
Wang Chenning gave a meaningful smile. "In any case, *I* would never play such a tedious game."
"Of course a man like Brother Ning would consider such games beneath him!" Li Mingchao laughed. "But me? I get bored easily. And when I’m bored, there’s no harm in playing a few boring games to pass the time, right?"
