Chapter 2658 - 2657: Conflict Everywhere
Chapter 2658: Chapter 2657: Conflict Everywhere
Ah-Lei led Lin Dong and Yun Ruoxian, arriving shortly at the tribal square.
The place was shrouded in darkness, even the bonfire couldn’t illuminate the surroundings.
Beside the central fire pit, a grand evening banquet was underway.
Lin Dong and Yun Ruoxian sat side by side, their gazes sometimes sweeping over the crowd, each holding a concern in their hearts.
"Lin Dong, what do you think has happened to Tang Yun and the others now?" Yun Ruoxian whispered softly, a trace of worry flashing in her eyes.
Her voice, though soft, was enough for Lin Dong to feel the heavy concern within.
Lin Dong gently patted the back of her hand as comfort: "Don’t worry, since they could come here, they must also have the ability to protect themselves. What we need to do now is find them quickly and ensure our safety."
Saying this, he turned to look at the clan chief surrounded by tribesmen nearby, deciding to take the initiative.
"Clan Chief, may I have a word?" Lin Dong stood up, politely interrupting the chief’s conversation, with a tone that carried a hint of plea.
The clan chief, hearing this, laughed heartily, patting the empty spot beside him: "Lin Dong, my young friend, just speak up, we’re all family here."
Lin Dong nodded with gratitude, then sat down and got straight to the point: "Clan Chief, our entry into this mysterious place is not just Yun Ruoxian and myself. We have other missing companions at the moment. Do you know how we might find them?"
The clan chief’s expression turned serious at the words, after pondering for a moment, he said: "Lin Dong, my young friend, although this island isn’t large, it’s riddled with dangers. But rest assured, I have a precious map here that might lend you a hand."
He then took a roll of yellowed sheepskin from his bosom, slowly unfolding it.
The map clearly displayed the island’s outline, with mountains, rivers, dense forests, and swamps all meticulously marked.
And the most eye-catching were the scattered red dots, like warning lights, announcing the presence of danger.
"These red dots are lessons learned from lives of our people across generations. They mark either fierce beast dens, treacherous natural formations, or territories of other tribes." The clan chief explained each red dot on the map.
Lin Dong and Yun Ruoxian exchanged glances, hope flashing in their eyes. They took the map with hearts full of gratitude.
"Thank you, Clan Chief, this map is extremely important to us!" Lin Dong said sincerely.
Yun Ruoxian added: "Clan Chief, we wanted to present gifts as a token of thanks, but..."
Her words carried a hint of helplessness, clearly aware of their current predicament.
The clan chief waved his hand, interrupting her: "No need for gifts, you returning safely is the best reward for us. Moreover, I believe, you will surely repay the tribe in other ways in the future."
Lin Dong considered silently. He indeed had many treasures stored in the Dragon Ring Space, yet couldn’t retrieve them at the moment.
He sighed inwardly: "If only I could restore a bit of Inner Qi, even just briefly, that’d be enough to open the Dragon Ring and fetch those items valuable to the tribe."
Just then, a flash of inspiration struck Lin Dong’s mind, reminding him of the Divine Talismans in the Dragon Ring that could be activated without Inner Qi.
"If I can retrieve those talismans, using their power, I can leave here. But the problem is, how to recover my Inner Qi temporarily?"
Thinking of this, a smile curled up on Lin Dong’s lips. He looked at the clan chief, determination and resolve shining in his eyes: "Clan Chief, rest assured, though we can’t offer material gifts immediately, I promise we will bring help and protection to the tribe in another way."
The clan chief heard this, a hint of appreciation and expectation flashed in his eyes, as he patted Lin Dong’s shoulder, laughably said: "Good! I look forward to that day."
As the banquet went on, Lin Dong and Yun Ruoxian already had a new plan and direction in their hearts.
With the map gained, they prepared to set out after Night Time to explore other places on the island, seeking the whereabouts of Tang Yun and the others.
Only by gathering them together might they be able to clear this bizarre second level.
Soon, the laughter and joy of the banquet faded with the wind, leaving only the flicker of firelight and the occasional distant beast cries adding a touch of mystery to the silent night.
In the gracious arrangement of several clan chiefs, Lin Dong and Yun Ruoxian were led to a secluded and solemn cave before.
Next to the Sword Obsession Hermit.
The cave, a special place among the tribe to entertain honored guests, not only secure but warm in winter and cool in summer, a natural haven.
Guide Ah-Lei, with an almost imperceptible urgency in his step, occasionally glanced at Yun Ruoxian surreptitiously, his gaze mingling amazement with greed.
Yun Ruoxian wore an elegant long dress, her figure ethereal in the darkness, adding a transcendent aura, drawing admiration irresistibly.
"This is your accommodation, you two." Ah-Lei’s voice was low and stiff, clearly not as calm inside as on the surface.
Once they entered the cave, he suddenly halted, turning to face Yun Ruoxian, his greed impossible to hide,
"Our tribe has never had such a beautiful woman. As the first warrior of the tribe, I should have the most beautiful women and more women to show my honor."
After saying this, he brazenly approached Yun Ruoxian, with ill intent.
However, a resolute figure instantly blocked Yun Ruoxian’s front; it was Lin Dong, his gaze icy cold, authority in his tone unquestionable: "Ah-Lei, I warn you, leave immediately!"
Ah-Lei smirked, as if hearing the funniest joke in the world: "Do you think the clan chief really takes you as honored guests? Here, power decides everything! Even if I cripple you and take your woman, the clan chief won’t say anything. Because, the safety of the tribe depends on me, the first warrior!"
Before finishing his words, he already swung a punch, with a howling wind, aimed straight at Lin Dong’s face.
However, Lin Dong, despite losing Inner Qi, hadn’t neglected his many years of Martial Arts cultivation; his figure moved effortlessly, dodging the fierce blow while countering with a palm wind that, though not using full strength, was enough to stagger Ah-Lei back several steps, face changing abruptly.
"You... how is it possible..." Ah-Lei looked at Lin Dong in disbelief, his eyes filled with shock and unwillingness.
Lin Dong met his gaze coldly, calmly yet powerfully saying: "Ah-Lei, what you use is merely brute force; you might be the first warrior here, but before me, you are nothing."
"If you dare to act recklessly again, don’t blame me for showing no mercy."
Yun Ruoxian stood by, looking at Lin Dong’s resolute back, a surge of unprecedented safety filled her heart.
Ah-Lei watched this scene, a wave of unprecedented frustration rising in his heart, yet he wasn’t willing to give up, still wanting to approach Yun Ruoxian.
Lin Dong snorted coldly, slowly saying: "Seeking death, don’t blame me!"
"Crack~~~" This time, Lin Dong didn’t hold back, directly twisting and breaking one of his arms.
Ah-Lei let out a scream, leaving a fierce remark: "Fine, you dare break my arm. Just wait, this matter, I won’t let it rest."
In the end, he could only turn resentfully, leaving only the sound of heavy footsteps echoing in the night.
