Chapter 2196 - 2185: Primordial Battle Banner

Before Lin Zifeng could think carefully, a sharp sound pierced the air in his ears, even drowning out Dongka’s urgent yet clear shout. The tribulation crossing heavenly thunder that should have struck him hadn’t arrived as expected, and a hint of confusion and joy flashed across Lin Zifeng’s brows. He slowly opened his eyes but was taken aback by what he saw in front of him, his face revealing a look of utter astonishment.

At some point, the Primordial Battle Banner emerged from the Magic Bracelet, standing upright in front of Lin Zifeng. The flagpole was straight as if intending to pierce through the impenetrable darkness of the Nine Heavens, the banner fluttering without wind. Lin Zifeng was shielded behind it, and the tribulation crossing heavenly thunder that should have struck him had actually stopped!

In a state of shock, Lin Zifeng turned his head to scan his surroundings, surprised to find that the flowing air had seemingly solidified, and everything in the world appeared to have stopped. Dongka’s incongruous shout abruptly awakened Lin Zifeng from his stupor:

"Lin Zifeng, get out now! How can you withstand the tribulation crossing heavenly thunder?"

Regaining clarity, Lin Zifeng looked at the Primordial Battle Banner before him, wondering if it had saved his life.

Throughout, Lin Zifeng had found the supreme holy artifact, the Primordial Battle Banner, quite handy and understood its functions thoroughly, but he hadn’t expected it to possess the ability to stop time!

Outside the formation, Dongka was exceedingly anxious but dared not rashly enter. If another tribulation crossing heavenly thunder came, he lacked the magical treasures Lin Zifeng had. Just as he was about to remind Lin Zifeng again, his words were cut off by a dull yet immensely furious thunderous roar.

"Boom!"

Not only Dongka, but even Lin Zifeng, who was pondering in peril, was startled. As he raised his head, he suddenly realized that the originally motionless heavenly thunder was now rushing at him with devastating force!

At this moment, Lin Zifeng experienced a strong desire to survive. Regardless of whether the Primordial Battle Banner had gained him valuable time, he knew he had to get out of the Heavenly Slaying Five Thunder Formation!

With a fierce shout, Lin Zifeng moved like the wind. As he ran, he twisted to look back, surprised to find that the heavenly thunder, previously as swift as lightning, had slowed down!

Though the heavenly thunder behind pursued relentlessly, its speed had decreased slightly. However, its contained power was in no way diminished, and as Lin Zifeng fled, he wondered: "What’s happening? Why just now...?"

Just as he hadn’t finished his inner monologue, Lin Zifeng’s eyes brightened, suddenly recalling something.

When he opened his eyes earlier, the air seemed to be at a standstill, leading him to mistakenly judge it as time stopping. Reflecting more deeply, he realized it wasn’t that, but rather that the air and thunder rushing toward him had slowed to an extreme.

It was as if... they were subjected to powerful gravity!

This thought suddenly arose in Lin Zifeng’s mind — indeed, the ability hidden within the Magic Bracelet was to apply hundreds or thousands of times gravity on the enemy, making escape impossible.

At present, the gravity was evidently affecting the tribulation crossing heavenly thunder, slowing its originally swift speed considerably. As time passed, the Primordial Battle Banner could suppress the thunder’s power less effectively, causing its speed to increase!

In crisis, realizing his magical treasure had saved his life and exhibited such powerful ability, Lin Zifeng couldn’t help but feel joy. Yet, what he didn’t expect was the Magic Bracelet, which had calmed down, now heightened his sense of impending danger again.

"Hiss..."

Taking a sharp breath, Lin Zifeng turned around, realizing in surprise that he had already run out of the Heavenly Slaying Five Thunder Formation, yet the blue-violet lightning followed, still chasing him relentlessly!

"Damn, isn’t it just for taking a piece of stone? Why is this thing chasing so stubbornly!"

Cursing inwardly, Lin Zifeng found the Primordial Battle Banner’s flag was flapping wildly in the formation, and the elemental power emanating from the Magic Bracelet was considerably abundant!

Although the elemental power within the Magic Bracelet was endless, Lin Zifeng estimated roughly and was astonished silently. The elemental power consumed while running out of the formation was equivalent to all the elemental power of a Saint Middle Stage expert!

"As expected, it required so much elemental power to suppress the speed of the tribulation crossing heavenly thunder..."

Speaking to himself inwardly, Lin Zifeng’s eyes narrowed, contemplating the heavenly thunder, now five meters away and accelerating rapidly.

Given that this thunder had mutated into tribulation crossing heavenly thunder, it was clear he couldn’t escape regardless of how distant he fled. Moreover, no matter how he tried to suppress it, once the thunder overcame the gravity and returned to its previous speed, he was doomed!

No matter how Lin Zifeng ducked, this bolt of thunder was destined to strike him!

"The heavenly thunder... today there’s no avoiding it; I can only face it head-on." Resolved, Lin Zifeng halted his steps, turned around, staring resolutely at the heavenly thunder less than three meters away.

Off to the side, Dongka’s face was dark and remained silent, having discerned some clues over such a long time. Seeing Lin Zifeng standing confronting the thunder, Dongka paused, even feeling a flicker of admiration in his eyes.

Knowing well that escape was impossible, facing it calmly required immense courage. Dongka asked himself, if he were in his place, would he not have already been terrified?

"Since I can’t escape, today I will test how terrifying the tribulation crossing heavenly thunder, which awes the world, truly is!"

With a low shout, Lin Zifeng’s eyes gleamed brightly, despite the three-meter distance being somewhat suppressed by gravity, in just two breaths’ time, the thunder was upon Lin Zifeng!

Feeling the raging thunder’s presence in front of him, Lin Zifeng didn’t choose to avoid it but instead unleashed his elemental power to its utmost. The flagpole of the Primordial Battle Banner planted in the ground began to shake violently, and even the earth beneath seemed to quiver in concert.

"Now!"

In an instant, the tribulation crossing heavenly thunder, previously cascading toward him, slowed once more, Lin Zifeng roared, and, instead of retreating, he abruptly rushed into the mass of blue-violet light!

"Lin Zifeng, don’t!" Even though he anticipated this, Dongka’s heart was filled with worry. Before his shout finished, the dazzling blue-violet light engulfed his view, obscuring Lin Zifeng’s form entirely.

By now, the heavenly thunder nearly brushed Lin Zifeng’s hair, his eyes narrowed, and he suddenly sprang his slightly bent knees!

"Bang!"

In a flash, Lin Zifeng’s form twisted away at an incredible and bizarre angle, his silhouette turning into streaks drifting through the air.

Nevertheless, the tribulation crossing heavenly thunder seemed infuriated by Lin Zifeng’s recent action, and it unleashed its immensely powerful energy in a furious outburst.
