Chapter 1085: Chapter 170: Li Yuan, You Little Wretch (Second Update)
North Divine Land, as Mu Qingge stepped off the empty boat, she felt a piercing chill. The entire continent was perpetually shrouded in thin mist that could not be dispelled, making the climate slightly colder compared to other Divine Lands.
Taking a moment to adjust to the climate of North Divine Land, Mu Qingge looked up and saw Mo Yang coming to greet her.
A year ago, upon returning to Huan Yue Domain, Mu Qingge sent Yin Chen away with four women, each heading to different Divine Lands. Meanwhile, the Dragon Tooth Guards and Dragon Feather Guards were released before she went into seclusion, dispersing across Four Seas Divine Land, laying low.
They split into four small teams, each led by different individuals, working in tandem with the four women who left earlier, establishing Mu Qingge’s own bases in Four Seas Divine Land.
The individuals dispatched to North Divine Land were Xuan Ya and Mo Yang.
After emerging from seclusion, Mu Qingge left Huan Yue Domain alone. Her purpose here was to meet the remnants of the Mu Clan in North Divine Land and pass through into the Demon Forest.
"Little Lord." After a year apart, Mo Yang’s eyes gleamed with a hint of excitement upon seeing Mu Qingge.
Mu Qingge smiled and nodded at him, saying, "How are things over the past year? Are you accustomed to living in the Divine Lands?"
Mo Yang nodded, "Everything is quite familiar. The only thing I’m unaccustomed to is not being able to follow the master’s commands directly, not being able to serve the master."
"Carrying out the tasks I assigned is the best service to me," Mu Qingge replied calmly.
"Little Lord, as per your instructions, we have established our base in a mortal city under the jurisdiction of Phoenix Heaven Domain. The city is called Chao Lu, it’s very prosperous, the largest mortal city in Phoenix Heaven Domain, and close to Phoenix Heaven Domain, a junction between the divine and mortal realms." Mo Yang explained to Mu Qingge.
He understood well that Mu Qingge’s placement here meant she regarded these matters with high importance. However, he was puzzled, as most enemies of the Mu Clan were in West Divine Land. What made North Divine Land, specifically Phoenix Heaven Domain within it, so significant to her?
Naturally, having been by Mu Qingge’s side for many years, he understood her temperament.
Ask what needed asking, and absolutely refrain from questioning what shouldn’t be asked.
"Hmm, it’s been a tiring year for you all," Mu Qingge nodded and said.
Placing Mo Yang in North Divine Land and You He in West Divine Land wasn’t whimsy. For in West Divine Land resides Song Tianji.
Being quite intelligent, You He’s role there was more about gathering intelligence and managing the Dragon Tooth Guards. If Mo Yang were also placed there, not only it would be superfluous, but might also trigger a dispute over control.
Xuan Ya, though loyal, sometimes showed excessive cleverness and needed suppression; Mo Yang was Mu Qingge’s most trusted and ideal choice for handling this.
"There’s still some way to Chao Lu, Little Lord, please board the vehicle." Mo Yang led Mu Qingge to a carriage.
This carriage bore a close resemblance to the one Mu Qingge had in Linchuan, discreetly luxurious, not flamboyant, yet hard to ignore. Pulled by a pair of unicorns resembling fine steeds, they had sharp horns and glossy, unblemished coats.
However, these unicorns weren’t white; rather, they’re red, matching the color of Mu Qingge’s attire. Evidently, Mo Yang put care into his choice.
Mu Qingge entered the carriage; its interior was nearly identical to her Linchuan carriage. Mo Yang followed up but didn’t enter the cabin, choosing instead to personally drive.
"Where is Yin Chen now?" Mu Qingge lay back in the carriage, finding a comfortable position, and closed her eyes to rest.
She was only accustomed to being attended by You He and Hua Yue, making it difficult for other maidservants to approach. Mo Yang knew this habit, so he didn’t arrange attendants in the carriage.
Mo Yang swung the long whip, urging the unicorns to soar while responding to Mu Qingge’s query. "Half a month ago, he reached Chao Lu, initially intending to wait for Little Lord. However, sensing something, he left a message saying he’d head to the Demon Forest first and wait for Little Lord there."
"Hmm." Mu Qingge softly replied, asking no further.
Soon, hearing no more from Mu Qingge, Mo Yang turned to see he was surprised to find her already asleep.
This occurrence was rare for Mu Qingge, known for her self-discipline, rarely relaxing in front of others enough to fall asleep.
To be able to do so, besides her deep trust in Mo Yang, was because she was exhausted.
Gazing at Mu Qingge’s tranquil sleeping face, Mo Yang’s often stiff and cold features softened slightly, his serene eyes showing a touch of tenderness.
Yet, upon this tenderness rising from deep within, Mo Yang swiftly suppressed it, concealing it completely.
His eyes restored their calm; he pulled back his gaze and refocused on steering the carriage.
However, he slowed the speed a bit, endeavoring to ensure the carriage remained stable, unhindered in Mu Qingge’s rest.
...
As Mu Qingge awoke, she felt the carriage descending. Glancing at Mo Yang’s silhouette, she rose and lifted the curtain with her hand, viewing the vast city ensconced beneath the clouds and mist.
This city was indeed immense; even from above, its boundaries were indiscernible.
Mu Qingge roughly estimated that the city could be nearly the size of a nation. Yet it was merely a mortal city, showcasing the expanse of Four Seas Divine Land.
The unicorns descended slowly, and Mu Qingge lowered the curtain, leaning back again.
Outside the carriage, the bustling noises of people began to rise, but she remained uninterested in viewing. Silently, she mused, ’Li Yuan, I’ve finally reached close to you. I’ll exact revenge for everything you’ve done, doubled!’
Having risen to Little God Empress, she found gathering intelligence on Phoenix Heaven God Emperor Li Yuan quite effortless. The Phoenix Heaven Domain, one of North Divine Land’s Four Divine Domains, was the only domain in Four Seas Divine Land ruled by a Female God Empress.
Not that Li Yuan was inherently powerful, but rather, because Phoenix Heaven Domain allegedly held the bloodline of the Phoenix Clan, where the God Emperor’s position could only be inherited by a female.
Mu Qingge wasn’t concerned with the truth behind the legends.
Her concern was solely over Li Yuan’s fate, which was hers to claim!
"Little Lord, we’ve arrived." Mo Yang’s voice reached from outside.
Mu Qingge gathered her thoughts and exited the carriage. The lively, bustling market around her she ignored entirely, even those eyes captivated by her presence were wholly disregarded.
She merely lifted her head, gazing at the Black Gold Signboard.
Wind Night Crossing—Dragon Tooth Studio!
Merely by viewing such a grand signboard, none could guess the nature of business here. Only by entering would one discover it to be a place selling wines.
Yet only the regular patrons, the drinkers, knew it offered more shadowed deals.
This was just a store opened a year ago, yet now, within Chao Lu City, anyone of status understood its significance.
