Chapter 278: Method to Enhance Gang Force, Choose One of Two? Zhang Su Wants Them All
In the end, however, the vast majority of them failed.
Very few ever managed to upgrade the quality of their Gang Force using the Melt Gang Technique.
He didn’t want to watch this young disciple, who had just joined the peak, go down the same path.
Guo Chuan’s warning to Zhang Su was genuine.
‘Just an Official Disciple?’
Zhang Su’s goal had never been to just become an Official Disciple.
An Official Disciple of Mixed Element Peak wasn’t enough to protect the Guiyuan Sect.
Zhang Su’s goal was to become a Direct Disciple.
And to become a Direct Disciple, a Third-Grade Gang Force was far from enough.
Even a Second-Grade Gang Force wouldn’t be enough.
What he needed was a First-Grade Gang Force!
“Thank you for the warning, Instructor Guo. I will remember it.”
Zhang Su said nothing more. He simply bowed again, then pushed open the door and left the Quiet Chamber.
Guo Chuan sat on his cushion, his expression pensive as he watched Zhang Su’s back disappear through the doorway.
‘A mere Named Disciple, trying to cultivate a First-Grade Gang Force with the Melt Gang Technique?’
‘If he actually succeeds, it will cause an uproar on Mixed Element Peak, and perhaps even throughout the entire Haojin Upper Sect.’
‘After all, leaping from a Third-Grade to a First-Grade Gang Force was not a feat just anyone could accomplish.’
‘In the history of Mixed Element Peak, all who had achieved this were peerless, top-tier geniuses.’
“Zhang Su… what an interesting disciple.”
Guo Chuan murmured to himself, and the Quiet Chamber fell silent once more.
After leaving the Quiet Chamber, Zhang Su returned to the main hall of the Martial Arts Hall.
Several disciples saw him emerge, and their gazes fell upon him once more.
Some were curious what kind of question he had spent so much silver to ask.
Zhang Su ignored their stares and walked straight toward the Martial Arts Hall’s secret manual section.
He had already made up his mind.
‘Tai Chi Gang Force, Primordial Gang Force… so what?’
‘Since they were both top-tier First-Grade Gang Forces, he didn’t have to choose between them.’
‘He would cultivate them all!’
‘One Gang Force used Yin Yang and the Five Elements as its foundation, the other used Yin and Yang.’
‘One was all-encompassing, the other was the epitome of purity.’
‘Both types of Gang Force had their own strengths, making it difficult to say which was superior.’
‘But what if,’ Zhang Su thought, ‘he could cultivate both types of Gang Force and then fuse them together?’
‘If he fused the two most powerful First-Grade Gang Forces, wouldn’t the result be even stronger?’
As for issues like the drain on his energy or the difficulty of Cultivation, they were not major problems for Zhang Su.
He had his Compatibility Value, which he could use to directly increase his Compatibility with any Martial Arts.
He could solve all of these problems.
Zhang Su arrived at the secret manual section of the Martial Arts Hall.
The Primordial Gang Force required the Great Five Elements Divine Technique.
The Great Five Elements Divine Technique was divided into five separate Divine Techniques: Metal Element, Wood Element, Water Element, Fire Element, and Earth Element. One had to master all five and combine them to cultivate the Five Elements Gang Force, then fuse it with Pure Yang Gang Power to form the Primordial Gang Force.
The Tai Chi Gang Force required the Ice Evil Divine Technique and the Fire Evil Divine Technique.
The Ice Evil Divine Technique cultivated a Gang Force of Extreme Yin and cold, while the Fire Evil Divine Technique cultivated a Gang Force of Extreme Yang and heat. The two were combined to create a balance of Yin and Yang, which was then fused with Pure Yang Gang Power to form the Tai Chi Gang Force.
Both Gang Forces required the cultivation of multiple Divine Techniques—seven in total.
Each Divine Technique was incredibly difficult to cultivate.
Although Zhang Su intended to cultivate both Gang Forces, he knew he couldn’t practice them simultaneously.
Seven Divine Techniques were too many; he didn’t have the energy to cultivate them all at once.
A person’s energy is finite. Even if he had perfect Compatibility with the Martial Arts, trying to cultivate seven Divine Techniques simultaneously meant he could only devote a sliver of time and energy to each. The likely result would be mastering none of them.
Therefore, after weighing his options, Zhang Su decided to start by cultivating the Great Five Elements Divine Technique.
He would focus on achieving the Primordial Gang Force first.
Once he mastered the Primordial Gang Force, he would move on to the Tai Chi Gang Force.
Zhang Su understood the principle of ‘more haste, less speed’.
The Martial Arts Hall’s secret manual section was vast. Rows upon rows of bookshelves stood packed tightly with all kinds of Martial Arts Secret Manuals.
Zhang Su moved between the shelves, his gaze sweeping over one secret manual after another.
After passing several rows of shelves, he finally found the Great Five Elements Divine Technique.
The five component Divine Techniques were all placed together, their covers wrapped in different-colored silks.
The Metal Element Divine Technique had a white cover, the Wood Element Divine Technique a green one, the Water Element Divine Technique a black one, the Fire Element Divine Technique a red one, and the Earth Element Divine Technique a yellow one.
Placed together, the five distinctly colored secret manuals were quite striking.
Zhang Su picked up each manual and flipped through it to confirm its contents before gathering all five and heading to the Steward’s counter in the Martial Arts Hall.
The Steward was a middle-aged man in his forties, dressed in a gray robe.
He took the five secret manuals from Zhang Su, looked them over one by one, and then raised his head.
“Five manuals. Ten thousand silver each, for a total of fifty thousand.”
Zhang Su took the silver notes from his robes and handed them over.
‘Fifty thousand silver, plus the twenty thousand from before, made for a total of seventy thousand.’
‘Just like that, seventy thousand silver was gone in a single day.’
Fortunately, Zhong Wangji had left him more than enough silver before departing.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had the silver to purchase the Great Five Elements Divine Technique.
Still, the Guiyuan Sect would be sending more silver next month.
Sect Leader Meng Shouzhen himself had promised it, and it would be delivered on time every month.
Zhang Su wasn’t too bothered by the expense.
As long as silver could be converted into power, any amount was worth spending.
The Steward accepted the silver notes, made an entry in a ledger, and pushed the five secret manuals back to Zhang Su.
“These secret manuals can only be read within the Martial Arts Hall; they cannot be taken out. You can use a Quiet Chamber. It’s one hundred silver per hour.”
Zhang Su nodded, and holding the five secret manuals, he rented another Quiet Chamber.
This Quiet Chamber was much smaller than Guo Chuan’s.
But Zhang Su didn’t mind.
He sat on the cushion, arranged the five secret manuals in front of him, and immediately began to read.
