Chapter 275 - 139: Method to Improve Gang Force, Choose One of Two? Zhang Su Wants Both

  • Next Chapter

Zhang Su had returned to the Martial Arts Hall.

He strode inside, his gaze immediately sweeping over the instructors.

There was more than one instructor inside the Martial Arts Hall.

They were seated behind a row of long tables on the right side of the hall. In front of each of them was a Wooden Token displaying their name and price.

Some instructors had their eyes closed, resting, while others were speaking quietly with disciples.

Many disciples were seeking their guidance.

Instead of rushing forward, Zhang Su stood to the side, observing carefully.

He discovered it cost one thousand silver to ask one of these instructors a single question.

Regardless of the question’s scope or difficulty, it was one thousand silver per question.

The price was ridiculously expensive.

Moreover, there seemed to be differences between the instructors.

Some instructors charged one thousand silver per question.

Others charged two or three thousand silver per question.

As for the most expensive instructor, a single question cost a staggering ten thousand silver.

Zhang Su’s gaze fell upon the Wooden Token. The two words "Guo Chuan" were written on it, with a line of smaller text below indicating the price: "Ten Thousand Silver."

The Wooden Token was set off to the side, a fair distance from the other instructors, giving it a somewhat isolated appearance.

’How is this answering questions?’

’Even robbery isn’t this fast.’

Zhang Su grumbled to himself, but he didn’t jump to any conclusions. Instead, he continued to observe from the side.

The instructors who charged one thousand silver had quite a long line of disciples, one after another, with almost no interruption.

The more expensive instructors, however, were largely ignored.

In the span of half an hour, only a few people approached the instructors charging two thousand silver.

As for the ones charging three thousand silver, Zhang Su had been standing there for some time and had only seen a single person approach them.

And as for Guo Chuan, who charged ten thousand silver, no one had approached him at all the entire time.

Zhang Su carefully studied the instructor who charged ten thousand silver.

Guo Chuan appeared to be around forty years old. He wore a dark cyan robe, the fabric clearly of a higher quality than that of the ordinary instructors. Silver cloud patterns were embroidered on its cuffs.

He sat behind the long table with a book before him, his head bowed as he leafed through its pages. His expression was placid, as if he couldn’t care less whether anyone came to seek his counsel.

Unlike the other instructors, Guo Chuan possessed an exceptionally unique aura.

Zhang Su could sense it—this man was far from ordinary.

Zhang Su observed for a good while longer.

For a full half an hour, not a single disciple went to consult Guo Chuan.

Disciples would occasionally walk past him. Their eyes would land on the "Ten Thousand Silver" Wooden Token, and their faces would show surprise before they headed straight for the other instructors.

After all, a price of ten thousand silver for a single question was simply too outrageous.

In the Martial Arts Hall, ten thousand silver could get you ten questions with an ordinary instructor.

But with Guo Chuan, that same amount only bought you a single question.

But Zhang Su thought differently.

’You get what you pay for.’

’An ordinary instructor might not be able to answer my question anyway.’

Zhang Su thought for a moment and decided to give it a try.

He stepped out from the crowd and walked directly toward Guo Chuan’s table.

Several disciples in the Martial Arts Hall noticed his movement and shot him curious glances.

A Named Disciple in a gray robe approaching Guo Chuan was a rare sight in the Martial Arts Hall.

Zhang Su came to a stop before Guo Chuan and bowed respectfully.

"Named Disciple Zhang Su, greetings to Instructor Guo."

Guo Chuan looked up, his gaze landing on Zhang Su.

"You want to spend ten thousand silver to ask a question?"

Guo Chuan’s voice was a little hoarse.

"Yes."

This piqued Guo Chuan’s curiosity.

He looked Zhang Su up and down.

The disciple looked to be eighteen or nineteen at most. His face still held a trace of youthful immaturity, but his gaze was remarkably composed.

Guo Chuan was an instructor on Mixed Element Peak. The reason he’d set his price at ten thousand silver wasn’t to make money, but to avoid being disturbed.

The price was enough to deter the vast majority of disciples.

This was exactly the effect he wanted.

If it weren’t for a rule on Mixed Element Peak that every instructor must come to the Martial Arts Hall at least once a month, he couldn’t be bothered to waste time answering these disciples’ questions.

"Fine. To the Quiet Chamber."

Guo Chuan stood up.

He closed the book before him and turned, heading for a Quiet Chamber deeper within the Martial Arts Hall.

Zhang Su immediately followed, walking toward the Quiet Chamber.

Many disciples in the Martial Arts Hall were stunned to see Zhang Su follow Guo Chuan.

A few Named Disciples waiting in line for an instructor stopped their conversation, their gazes fixed on Zhang Su.

"I can’t believe someone is actually spending ten thousand silver to consult Instructor Guo. Does he have more money than sense?"

a Named Disciple in his early twenties said, his face a mask of disbelief.

"Ten thousand silver is too expensive. With that much silver, I could ask an ordinary instructor ten questions."

Another, slightly older Named Disciple shook his head, his voice tinged with regret, as if it were his own ten thousand silver being spent.

"Instructor Guo is exceptional, I’ll grant you that, but what kind of question is worth ten thousand silver? Is this Named Disciple a fool? Does he really believe you get what you pay for?"

an Official Disciple in a blue robe also spoke up.

Many disciples shook their heads.

No matter how good he was, could one of his answers really be worth ten from anyone else?

Guo Chuan wasn’t worth ten thousand silver.

However, this was Zhang Su’s choice.

As long as he could afford it, he could consult whomever he wished.

Many people even started to inquire about Zhang Su’s identity.

They wanted to see just what kind of fool was willing to spend so much silver to consult Instructor Guo.

"Who is that disciple? I’ve never seen him before. A new Named Disciple?"

"Seems like he just joined the peak yesterday. Lives in Courtyard Number Eight."
