Chapter 91 91. BEASTS

Noah didn’t know what to do, but running was never not on the table, and that they did.

Dashing across the street, Noah jumped on a normal building not waiting for James, who also did the same. Merely a few seconds later Inscriptions lit on the sky as Elder Malachi’s voice rang out.

“We are sorry for this, we never expected a person to actually touch it. All functions of your hand band will shut down until the back up kick-starts, which will be two hours from now. During that period I am sorry but we won’t be able to watch you. So you’ll have to survive the eleven tier 3 Beasts. I wish you all su…ccess,” Elder Malachi explained until the inscriptions in the sky died down, so did hopes of many participants.

As though listening to the man, powerful roars spread out in the city, everyone being alerted.

Noah himself watched a pillar of orange flames emerge out of the dome shaped building, followed by the explosion of the said building.

Noah couldn’t help stop and watch. James’s minds boggling when he saw this scene. “Noah!,” he shouted at his partner who nodded and continued running.

The lion shook it’s mane causing all the debris in it to fall out. It raised its head towards the sky, a roar escaping its mouth, causing multiple buildings around it to directly crumble from the its full power.

Five large balls of orange flames flickered around the head of the lion, as beams of flames shot out of them causing immense destruction in the process. Then the lion moved around, slowly burning everything in its path.

In another area of the city. An ape the size of a mini-building, slammed its massive fists on its chest, a sonic roar escaping its mouth immediately after, as waves of powerful wind currents spread in the environment leveling tens of buildings multiple hundreds of meters around it’s large body.

Immediately it was done with that show of power, its sliver-black skin released tails of dense wind currents spreading around it like limbs while it leaped from its position to start causing destruction. Those limb like currents smashing into buildings or anything in the apes path.

#

In another position of the city. A giant rat skittered in the city’s streets seemingly causing no trouble, but when it found a group of participants running from its very large figure.

A high pitched screech resounded from its mouth, as the earth rose to impale the participants, destroying the street in the process. The rat then went and gobbled up their bodies, before continuing its soundless travel.

#

Near the center of the city. A large yellow snake unwrapped itself from the tall metal pole it slept on. Seeing that the inscriptions that kept it locked in the buildings existed no more, its large body crawled down the pole. 𝗼𝐯π₯.𝗻𝐭

Smashing the cage and the door that kept it in the building, it slithered around the city’s street, most of its body taking the space in the street.

A few seconds later it found itself in front of a large charred crater that spanned for a few kilometers in radius.

It didn’t seem to mind the condition of the hole since it went into it then coiled its body in the middle of hole.

If a person was present they would notice that the air present got really moist, then suddenly water began to appear in the relatively deep crater. Eventually the crater got filled with a light-green coloured water.

Scenes like this spread out in the city as the other beasts caused destruction in the city, some participants weren’t present in those places, but the ones that were, got killed by the rampaging beasts.

Most participants ran towards the center of the city seeking refuge, most got killed in the process, but the ones that didn’t would band together when they met each other, it seemed they had silently agreed to pause the game for now, as they couldn’t kill the beasts themselves.

Noah and James stood on a building staring at the obvious destruction being caused by the beasts.

A sigh escaped Noah’s mouth when he found that they were in the middle of three beast slowly approaching their position.

“Could it have killed them to place a barrier or something around the core?,” Noah complained to James who had a grimacing expression on his face, but still replied.

“Cores that are as powerful as that have to feed from the world’s Mana without any obstruction. So according to my knowledge they couldn’t. And I’m sure they didn’t expect anyone to be dumb enough to touch the core.” James explained trying to relieve himself of the tension building Inside himself.

“Besides there is a backup,” James added. “Yeah that would only work two hours from now,” Noah countered, while he tried to form a plan in his head.

James glanced at the three incoming destructive beasts. Taking a deep breath, his voice rang out, “Do you have a plan?.” He furrowed his brows.

Noah simply shook his head, “Apart from running and hiding. I’ve got nothing,” Noah replied, though his words were partially lies. He wasn’t too worried about the beasts, revealing his secrets worried him.

‘They currently can’t see us. What if its a lie to get us to lower our guard, and reveal our secrets,’ Noah thought in the span of an instant.

‘Is James trustworthy enough for me to share a secret with him?,’ Noah asked himself, a silent sigh escaping his mouth.

‘I can’t get through this one without going a bit all-out. Although the daggers can help I’m not sure how effective they’d be,’ he thought retrieving one of his daggers.

‘Who knows maybe I can get to level up and complete the levels required for tier 2. I just have to kill one of them,’ Noah thought; excitement welling up in his being. Though he immediately shook those thoughts off.

‘The system says I can’t beat any of them with my strength. But that’s just my strength. I have the Daggers. But should I even try.’ Noah thought, a frown appearing on his face.

‘But if I don’t, I’ll definitely have to reveal some of my more important secrets.’ Noah concluded, glancing at the explosions resounding in the distance.

The flame lion was the closest to them and it also seemed the most dangerous amongst the three about to clash.

For some reason they could endure the coagulation of tier 3 aura’s, probably because the beasts were weakened from who knew how long starvation.

Turning to face James after his instant long thoughts were finished. He opened his mouth to talk, but was cut short by James surprising words.

“Let me guess you have some crazy way of at least killing one of those beasts,” James said his expression mixed with incredulosness and slight lack of surprise.
