Chapter 618 618. MOUNTAIN CHAIN

Chapter 618 618. MOUNTAIN CHAIN

With all four experts now gathered together because of a higher power, they could now introduce themselves.

“I am Yuno, the lord of a small town outside the borders of this nation. It’s pretty much tiny, but is filled with individuals who have trained under me for decades.”

The expert, Yuno was a man who looked to be in his mid-forties, he had a head full of spiky long red hair with a tinge of black at its tip.

His facial features were blemish-less, and despite his spiky hair, he remained a man of refined taste, sporting a soft-looking red-black suit with a long red coat.

Thanks to his fifth-tier level his eyes constantly shone with a soft gray light. They resembled gems. Noah did not like him, however.

Yuno stood 6ft in height.

Seeing Noah remain unfazed by his words he opened his mouth to speak. Unfortunately sensing that the expert was about to say unfriendly words lady Edna raised her hand, shutting him up.

Her listless gaze swept all three of their figures, and Noah felt truly inspired by her presence. She felt ancient… like a god.

“I am Lady Edna. But you can just call me Edna. I am a simple servant of Lord Thanses. I had been training when he asked that I escort you on your way to his domain,” she explained, giving a curtsy rather unique to those who had been groomed as royals or nobles.

“I am Noah, most know me by the name Aiden, however,” Noah stated bowing his head. He did not know why, but she left a good impression on him.

Was it her voice that sounded unimpressed, or unbothered by anything? Or her emotionless gaze? Or het yet respectful demeanor towards someone of far lesser power like him?

Noah could not place his hand on it, but he felt something.

Lady Edna nodded in response. She looked no less than the age of thirty, but her strange eye color and stable demeanor spoke of age far beyond his.

Her robe covered most of her features, but her face already spoke of above-average beauty.

She didn’t seem like the type to care about looks though.

“Now that we know each other, let’s get on with this…”

Lady Edna went on to explain the various challenges that came with leaving the nation in that particular direction.

Fortunately, they would not be an issue thanks to the presence of such powerful experts.

“Still, we have to walk for a while before resuming our journey in the sky?” Noah asked furrowing his brows.

“Yes, for the sake of not attracting too much attention. I did tell you we’d be crossing over the nation of saints. They are pretty meticulous bastards despite their religious beliefs.” Elder Velsvon explained.

“But then we’d be trekking over an area of land that is filled with even fifth-tier beasts all restrained to those environments by ancient magic,” Yuno added, they were sitting on his magical beast. Even Noah admitted that she was beautiful. Only inwardly, however.

“It’d only take a few days to cross, at least if we do not encounter trouble. This is our way of respecting their values of sorts. We’d be paying for it with our time.” Lady Edna explained and Noah could only nod.

‘I hope we encounter abit of trouble,’ he revealed inwardly. He did plan to break through into the fifth tier before getting to the dark nations.

‘Maybe I can do it before even reaching the giant nation.’

The basis for the fifth tier had been set, the fourth tier being the most complicated of that realm, the next relatively major breakthrough would be transitioning into the sixth tier.

The fourth tier was essentially the groundwork for the fifth tier, but the two levels were worlds apart in terms of a power gap.

“Are we going to interact with the people of the Papine nation?”

Silence.

“If there is no need then we will not,” Lady Edna stated, and Noah nodded.

Not too long after, they began their journey. They would be flying to the next region on Yuno’s magical beast.

Noah had been inclined to ride Erolia but for the sake of respect, he decided against it. She remained in her soul realm, waiting for him to call upon her.

The journey was mostly silent. Those experts did their own thing without bothering the other person, and so did Noah. Elder Velsvon tried a few times to bring up conversations but failed miserably.

Yuno simply had nothing to say, while Lady Edna seemed focused on something. She also had her eyes closed and sat cross-legged.

Noah on the other hand wasn’t in the mood. He had been that way for the past week or so. One of the costs of being able to process emotions was of course emotional pain.

He tried to run away from the truth, but ironically the truth remained fast enough to not only catch up but overtake him.

The said truth being that he wasn’t happy. He also missed his friends, knowing that he would not see them for who knew how long.

He also still recovered from nostalgia and memories. His suffering being sponsored by his mind actively reminding him of what he lost.

‘I think I’ve spent enough time brooding,’ he heaved a sigh at some point, glancing at the world below. They were zooming past regions and the sight felt strangely calming.

Although he could not see it, he remained somewhat capable of sensing the presence of the fifth-tier centipede. It traveled the regions as fast as they were, but its distance from the surface remained impressive.

Noah could bet it was at least a few kilometers from the surface of the world, and at times it’d have to travel deeper, or swim through waters just the keep up.

“We’re here,” Lady Edna announced at some point, standing.

Instinctively, their gazes followed hers and Noah’s eyes fell on a rather impressive sight of an especially large mountain chain.

The mountain chain surpassed any he had seen in his lives, and it stretched for several miles, acting as a border. A literally immense one.

Despite its size, it was a simple wall, only that it had been created by someone terribly powerful.

Noah sensed high-level magic, but it didn’t matter.

The flying beast had to ascend to cross its top, and even Lady Edna’s beast had to climb the jagged mountains since it’d have to disrupt the foundations of that wall to dig past beneath it.

The sight had been something interesting, but the instant they flew past the wall, Noah felt an explosion of mana slam into his face and he became aware of several auras previously blocked away by the wall’s magic.

The second they crossed the wall, the magical beast dived to the ground. Their entry had been swift and they had managed to remain off the radar.
